Look, it’s not possible to prepare for a kid. Period. Oh, so you "kinda get it" cause you "look after" your "nieces" and "nephews"? That's some low-rent, pitiful, pre-baby thinking right there. Babies are like a box of chocolates; you never know how you got them. Another chocolate/baby difference is instead of eating them you have to FEED them. That’s a big one. So to sum up, don’t eat babies, you can't bank sleep, your kid may do crack cocaine, but if you can watch the movie Terminator with them it’s all worth it. Enjoy! Support us

That beautiful moment when your child arrives is magical. Then seven minutes later the reality sets in and you need to start doing stuff. You need to feed the them, dress them, walk them, put them to bed (no one needs to wake them up tho). The key is who does what? But more importantly, who does more? It's almost been a year, one whole year, since we said goodbye to normalcy and hunkered down with our families. At first it was scary. Then, after some time, we did the best we could to make the best of it. But after 3 days we knew this wasn't going to work so we just focused on getting a much toilet paper as we could fit in our pickups (ah good times). The lack of separation has been real. Welp, school snow days are no longer a thing, thanks COVID! But also maybe, thanks COVID? Snow is like toxic friendship. When it first starts it's beautiful, peaceful. Then as time goes on it changes from light and fluffy to hard as concrete specifically frozen around the wheels of your car. Getting kids in and out of snow is a parent's ultimate test. The layers! Well, well well, if it isn't the consequence of my own parent's actions... It's been scientifically proven that your birth order DOES determine how you parent. And by "scientifically" I mean a guy I knew who took a science class told me so.  That's really about as scientific as we get in this episode with Mike and Pete(r). Welp, looks like we picked the wrong year to quit Methamphetamines, or oxycontin, or even plain ol' sweet black tar heroin.  With the unimaginable happing on the daily (AND WE'RE ONLY 12 DAYS IN!) it's up to us parents to make sure  we raise our kids better than what we're seeing out there. Its starts with us making changes we need to provide out kids with the best versions of ourselves as examples. Ah 2020, it's almost as if you were the year that Y2K should've been. Most years we optimistically look forward to new adventures in the coming year. This year it's like we're clawing our way out of the sewer happy to find we've made it to the inside to toilet.  While kids had 3000% more screentime it's us parents that had 3000% more stress, as we balanced our jobs (if we were still lucky enough to have one) and our kids entire eduction (WHAT'S THE DAMN PASSWORD!!?). In an amazing twist of irony there were also some good things that came out of 2020.  There where "highs & lows," as some people would put it, but not Mike though, he likes the phrase "Peaks & Pits" which is horrible. Most people like the holiday season. Warm feelings, family time, and decorations. It's...nice. Then there are those who want to mainline the holiday season like that sweet, sweet black tar heroin.It's the smell of the Christmas tree that you cut down yourself, because your "family" wouldn't help. I'm sorry it was "too cold" and they "hate me" for "taking you on a 2 hour walk" in the "freezing cold." It's ok their stupid voices are drowned out by the rush of gingerbread combined with sweet sound of Christmas music. Shh...only dreams now, only dreams...Ahem, sorry. Only now are are seeing the effects of  40 years of privatized, free-market education  combined with a growing beaurcpatic quagmire pitting politicians against unions and unions against teachers, with parents caught smack-dab  in the middle.  All of which culminates in the devaluation of the one thing the United States holds so dear; it's children...Take THAT!
