Look, I know you're rolling your eyes right now at this title, but let me remind you of that time your kid was 18mos was squirming in your lap at that restaurant (y'know the time you went to "brunch" with your friends who didn't yet have kids and just rolled out of bed at 11- also happened to be your last brunch)  only to have your kid desperately  reach for your wine glass filled with the 2 for 1 mimosa (brunch special) and when you give him the soft book with the spider and in one motion the kid flings it across the restaurant only to have it land of the floor next to the bathroom all while melting into an hysterical temper tantrum. Over 78% of you eat dinner every night as a family with your kids. According to all the research that's failing all else that prob the best thing you can do as a parent. Welp, that leaves the rest of us the lowly 22% who for numerous reasons can't get our stuff together to eat as a fam (Pete). Summers as a parent are always deceptive. On the surface we still get a child-like joy when school is over. A brief sigh of relief. Relief that's quickly followed by that moment when we realize that these kids will just hang around the house, begging to be entertained. for months. THEN we realize, hang on we just spent the last 4 MONTHS living, breathing and schooling these kids and now with school over we don't even get the 1-3 hours of structure that internet school provides!?!? WHY GOD?! WHYYYYYY!!?? Ahem, I'm ok. Mike and Pete discuss their summer plans and listen to yours. Some of which include water parks, dude really? As parents our #1 job is to make sure we don't raise dicks. That has never been more true, or more apparent, than right now. We need less aggressive, less selfish, less bigoted assholes and more empathetic, more open, critically-minded human beings. . But what are there key things we want to be better at? Like having more patience? Not yelling as much? How early is too early to show my toddler the original "IT"?  How is my 7yr old going to appreciate great filmmaking if she doesn't  watch the opening scene of "Narc"?
