Sinopsis

Hi everybody, and welcome to the Dad and Buried podcast! Basically, this podcast will be like my blog, except instead of writing angry things about my kids, I'll be saying them directly into your ears. You've all stopped reading my blog anyway, thanks to mark Zuckerberg, but I'm not done ranting about parenting, so I decided to create a new format to give people what they want: me and some guy they've never heard of complaining about our children.

Look, I know you're rolling your eyes right now at this title, but let me remind you of that time your kid was 18mos was squirming in your lap at that restaurant (y'know the time you went to "brunch" with your friends who didn't yet have kids and just rolled out of bed at 11- also happened to be your last brunch)  only to have your kid desperately  reach for your wine glass filled with the 2 for 1 mimosa (brunch special) and when you give him the soft book with the spider and in one motion the kid flings it across the restaurant only to have it land of the floor next to the bathroom all while melting into an hysterical temper tantrum. Do you remember that? Still think they grow up so fast?...I see. ok well listen to it anyway. Pete's out this week so Heather (@momandburied) Mike's much, much, much better half fills in. Enjoy! • The Summer of Love: Kids, Camps and COVID - #69

    18/06/2020 Duración: 51min

Summers as a parent are always deceptive. On the surface we still get a child-like joy when school is over. A brief sigh of relief. Relief that's quickly followed by that moment when we realize that these kids will just hang around the house, begging to be entertained. for months. THEN we realize, hang on we just spent the last 4 MONTHS living, breathing and schooling these kids and now with school over we don't even get the 1-3 hours of structure that internet school provides!?!? WHY GOD?! WHYYYYYY!!?? Ahem, I'm ok. Mike and Pete discuss their summer plans and listen to yours. Some of which include water parks, dude really? It's almost as good as my plan to take the fam on daily trips to the Drs office to get tested for COVID. This is going to be the BEST SUMMER EVER!! Support us

  • What You Wish You Could You Do to Be a Better Parent - #68

    11/06/2020 Duración: 44min

As parents our #1 job is to make sure we don't raise dicks. That has never been more true, or more apparent, than right now. We need less aggressive, less selfish, less bigoted assholes and more empathetic, more open, critically-minded human beings. . But what are there key things we want to be better at? Like having more patience? Not yelling as much? Perhaps doing a better job of channeling your frustrations as a parent into something more productive like knife throwing ?  Mike shares some personal stories of things he's having trouble working on while Pete listens on quietly judging. What a dick.  Support us

  • What do we want for our kids when they grow up? - EP 67

    28/05/2020 Duración: 57min

Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." Thanks Ferris,  but how do we teach our kids to be ready for a world that will be hard fo us to recognize? I mean I don't even know what Tik Tok let alone why Mike has a channel where he just puts on Chapstick.  So what do we want for our kids?  Good school ($100Ks in debt)? A good job (soul crushing grind)? Buy a house (with what money)? Get married (do they have to)? KIDS??!  The world is much different from us to our parents than it was from our parents to theirs. Just think how the internet (est 2000), social networks (est. 2008), ipad (est 2010), have radically changed our lives, economies and society in general. How to we prepare them for what the future holds. Mike and Pete hear from you. With special guest apprearence from Mike's wife Heather aka Mom&Buried. Support us

  • Is it a good idea to show your kids the movies you loved growing up? - #65

    07/05/2020 Duración: 01h05min

How early is too early to show my toddler the original "IT"?  How is my 7yr old going to appreciate great filmmaking if she doesn't  watch the opening scene of "Narc"? These are VERY good questions that we, as parents, should be asking ourselves and EACH OTHER . Is it us or are the movies we grew up on way more violent and sexualized than we remember. No, no it's our  kids who are wrong! Those movies are perfectly sexualized and violent. Like watching a gratuitous sex scene with your parents,  this episode Mike and Peter hear from you about the good, the bad and the ugly of getting your kids to watch the movies you loved growing up.  Support us
