Sinopsis

Hello! Join hosts Kaiser Herzlich and HippoGriff Placeholder as they discuss the absurdity of science in movies... or at least the lack thereof. Come listen to Kaiser make crappy parodies and perform them on his ukulele and HippoGriff say every adverb in the English language ad nauseam. New episodes appear at some point in time every Monday and on Elijah Wood's birthday.

Episodios

  • Mad Max: Fury Road: Black and Chrome - The Cat's 21st Meow

    28/06/2017 Duración: 02h04min

Hello again! Hopefully this is Tuesday in your timezone. This week, we watched the wonderful newest Mad Max movie. It is awesome! Please ignore HippoGriff's tiredness, my sniffles, the strange ethereal music that we can normally only hear in our heads, and my sweet kitten making adorable meows.

  • Waterworld - New Worst Movie #20

    21/06/2017 Duración: 02h01min

We aren't dead! We aren't quitting either! We are back. Sorry it took us so long. We explain this. But we are back! This week, we watched the world's shittiest movie: Waterworld. You get to listen to two hours of me having yet another aneurysm. This is the worst movie. Of all time. Ever. Worse than Encino Man. This movie did not deserve a song. We will be back on either Friday or Saturday and will be putting something out every week from now on!

  • Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 2 - Track #19

    10/05/2017 Duración: 01h46min

Welcome! Part of an apology is learning from your mistakes, so I have decided to no longer apologise for posting late. This week, we watched Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 and it was wonderful. This episode is a long one. Our longest yet probably. Also, it turned out to be the least scientifically accurate one. Listen to find out why. I did not parody this week. I took the lasiness option and played Am, F, C, G and then switched that up a bit. Nobody owns the right to chords: even ones as commonly used as these.

  • Grovpologies - Portmanteau #1

    06/05/2017 Duración: 44min

Hello! Here is the first of likely many grovpologies. Please accept this. We are grovpologising this week for the last two late episodes. Talking points: 2nd base on a train, every musician ever is a famous rapper, and summer plans in the living hell of Chupacabra.

  • This Is the End - Rapture #18

    04/05/2017 Duración: 01h03min

Hello! I am so sorry again for doing a late upload. It's finals week. Yep. It's rough. This week, we watched This Is the End because I didn't think it was a biblical rapture movie. Yep. Talking points: CAFFEINE, Survival skills, and Seth Rogen's obsession with penises. I apologize to Whitney Houston, who is likely rolling in her grave. RIP in peace.

  • Starship Troopers - Not The Konami Code For The 17th Time

    26/04/2017 Duración: 01h25min

Oh my goodness. I am so sorry! I totally messed up and forgot to edit yesterday. I will do what I can to make reparations. This week, we watched Starship Troopers! Talking points: Mandatory Fun, EXPLOSIONS IN SPACE!, and some groan worthy puns.

  • Arrival, with Jim Siegler, M.D. - 16th Giant Banana Spire

    18/04/2017 Duración: 01h23min

Welcome back! Sorry I am so late with the post today. Today, we are joined by Dr. Jim Siegler from the BrainWaves Podcast! Thanks so much for being our first guest! Here's the SoundCloud link to his show: https://soundcloud.com/brainwavesaudio This week, we watched Arrival! It was our first episode with HippoGriff and I being in different places and with a guest. Two firsts! The audio quality is much better and it only took an extra couple of hours to edit! Talking points: WW3, New Tattoos for the boyz, and why you shouldn't go to medical school.

  • The Adventures Of Buckaroo Banzai Across The 8th Dimension - In Dimension #15

    11/04/2017 Duración: 01h48min

Welcome back! This week, we watched and reviewed The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension. Some quick warnings though: First off, there is a lot of heavy breathing. That's my fault. I was way too close to the mic. Secondly, there is around 20 minutes where I give a cursory description of String Theory because I thought it was necessary at the time. There's some good news though! HippoGriff and I were interviewed last Sunday for an Anchor.fm "Podcast of the Day" show with Grant Polmanteer. I will add a link as soon as it is posted. It looks like it will be posted on Wednesday the 12th of April, 2017. Also, welcome Jeff, our new image man and all around stand up guy! He will be existing as our mascot for the foreseeable future. Finally, check out next week when we watch Arrival with our new friend James from the Brainwaves podcast. Talking points: STRING THEORY!, Kaiser pleases his ancestors, and HippoGriff eats apparently whatever is in front of him. Make sure to email us at hollywoodsc

  • SPACEBALLS! - SPACEBALLS THE SPACEBALLS MOVIE PODCAST #14

    04/04/2017 Duración: 01h15min

Welcome back! This week, we recorded my second favourite movie! I have seen Spaceballs nearly 500 times. This is not an unrealistic number. I can play this movie over and over in my head word for word with every bit of timing, action, minor character position, and joke in the perfect spot. One thing I had never done though was analyze the science of this. Oh boy. This is easily the most scientifically flawed movie we have done so far. That being said, it is absolutely beautiful and I am glad to have had a reason to watch it again this month. Talking points: The Great Culling, Canned Air, and a particularly unhealthy obsession with a comedy movie. This week, I made some chords and added a couple of words to the Spaceballs Theme by The Spinners, so I guess it is still a parody. This song is not owned by me. I wish it were though. I would give anything to be a part of Spaceballs 2.

  • Parallels - Unresolved Plotline #13

    28/03/2017 Duración: 01h03min

Welcome back! This week, we watched a TV pilot turned movie called Parallels. It looks like it might become a show called "The Building", easily making my top five list for dumbest names for a TV show. That being said, it's going to be dank if it will be made a show. If you want this to happen, send emails to these people: Netflix seems to have picked this up - as a one off movie so far - from Fox Digital, so I'd try them either here: https://help.netflix.com/help or here: pr@netflix.com let them know you want this to be made into a series. Telling Fox Digital might help, too - https://www.facebook.com/FoxDigitalStudio Or here: https://www.change.org/p/netflix-fox-broadcasting-company-make-parallels-a-tv-series-as-originally-intended Talking points: Discovering new countries that now exist, 5th dimensional package wrapping competitions, and the most impractical design for a firearm known to any parallel world. This week, I parodied the song "Can't Help Falling in Love" which Twenty-One Pilots made or I th

  • Event Horizon - Magnetic Ring #12

    21/03/2017 Duración: 01h26min

Back at it again! This week, we received a recommendation from our friends over at the Horror Movie Night podcast to watch Event Horizon. We did. Talking points: Kaiser and Griff summon a demon named Jerry with the help of Twenty-one Pilots, Griff does not eat oranges, and Kaiser discusses the proper way to kill yourself. This week, I made a parody of the song "House of Gold" by Twenty-one Pilots. I own none of the rights to the song. I am so sorry for using it for demon summoning purposes.

  • The 6th Day - Unaware Clone 11

    14/03/2017 Duración: 01h09min

Welcome! This week, we attempt to review The 6th Day with the Governator. Also, due to trying new things and not laziness, I spent $1.06 on an MC Frontalot song for our intro! Thanks, Front! Here is a link to the website of my favourite rapper ever: http://frontalot.com/ Buy all of his music and give him all of your money. Talking points: Recording at the world's first KFC, Griff eats more fucking orange things, and the physics of angular momentum.

  • Gattaca - Chromosome 10

    07/03/2017 Duración: 53min

Hey! Sorry I posted so late, but it is still technically Monday here in Chupacabra for thirty minutes. That being said, join us in the wonderful world of legalised eugenics! Talking points: Orange Juice is Pepsi, Improperly maintained in-home incinerators, and opera singing our sign off. This week, I didn't ruin any song by anyone because it was late!

  • Big Hero 6 - 9

    27/02/2017 Duración: 01h08min

Welcome to our 10th and 9th episode! This week, we discuss the science of Big Hero 6. Talking points: Kaiser makes a horrendous math error (Sorry. 232*C), HippoGriff's slightly erotic love of oranges and orange flavoured treats, and teleportation by helecopters. We are also now on Google Play! Soon enough, we will also branch out into Facebook. As always, please email us at hollywoodsciencepodcast@gmail.com and follow us on Twitter @HollywoodScienc I parodied the song "The Lazy Song" by Bruno Mars. I am so sorry. I goofed and played on the on-beat instead of the off-beat.

  • Mega Piranha - Experimental Fish Meat Upgrade 8

    21/02/2017 Duración: 01h14min

Welcome back! This week, we watch Mega Piranha and I ruin yet another Daft Punk song. Talking points: Buying Legal Titles, 101 ways to destroy Piranhas, and building a wall to keep those darn immigrant piranhas out of the upper river. This time, I parodied "Instant Crush" by Daft Punk feat. Julian Casablancas. I am, once again, incredibly sorry.

  • Die Hard - Bruce Willis Life # 7

    13/02/2017 Duración: 01h17min

Welcome back! This week, we discuss the importance of keeping a few extra lives on you when you decide to take on 12 German terrorists. That's right. Everyone's favourite Candlenights movie: Die Hard! Talking points: Crash Bandicoot: Die Hard edition, One-Liners for days, and Bruce Willis somehow becoming more bald. This week, I parodied the song "Closing Time" by Semisonic. I am deeply sorry.

  • Space Warriors - Triumph By Fire #6

    06/02/2017 Duración: 01h16s

Hello again! This week, we watched and criticized Space Warriors. Join us as we take a trip into space and learn the true meaning of friendship. Talking points: MC FRONTALOT OH MY GOD YEAR SCREWWD, Breaking the land speed record in a lawn mower, and the kidnapping of stereotypical children from developed countries. This week, I parodied "Blank Space" by Taylor Swift. I am so very sorry.

  • Snowpiercer - Passenger Car #5

    31/01/2017 Duración: 52min

Welcome back! We did a podcast on Snowpiercer. We have actual science in this one to talk about! Talking points: Children Replacement Parts, Wonderwall Parodies, and more Wonderwall Parodies. This week, I parodied Wonderwall by Oasis. I would apologise here, but your song already sucks. #Shade

  • DEEP Impact - Elijah Wood Birthday Special #1

    28/01/2017 Duración: 01h04min

Welcome! We posted a second time this week! Today is a special day. It is the birthday of Elijah Wood. In honour of him, we made this episode that had a pretty... deep impact on both our lives and Elijah Wood's life. Talking points: 30 minute timers, Nukes In Space!, and Mysterious Origin Comet Babies - The Harbingers of the End of All Time. This week, we sang Happy Birthday. It's now public domain, so no royalty payments here. Yay!

  • Primer - Time Clone 4

    23/01/2017 Duración: 01h17min

Whelp. Here we are again. We found a great movie with very little science to talk about. This week, we reviewed the science of Primer, a Sundance indy film that gained an immediate cult following. Talking points: Elijah Wood time clones, Elijah Wood's birthday celebration, and ADHD fidget toys. This week, I parodied One More Time by Daft Punk, my favourite house music duo. I am so sorry I turned it into a parody on my ukulele.
