The Rangers recently DFA’d Andrew McCutchen. Does the Pirates legend deserve to have his number retired in Pittsburgh? Poni thinks that he should, and Mullsy thinks that he should not. Poni also thinks that it’s not completely impossible for Cutch to end up in the baseball hall of fame at some point.

Steelers QB coach Tom Arth has been very complimentary of Will Howard so far throughout OTAs. The Steelers continue to try and convince people that Howard is going to be a very good quarterback. If they actually believed this, why would they spend a third-round pick on Drew Allar? Poni thinks that the Will Howard stuff sounds like Kenny Pickett rhetoric. ALL ACCESS w/ Aditi – Aditi thinks that the Steelers are just trying to give Will Howard a ton of confidence with the way they constantly talk him up with any chance they get. Aditi also thinks that bringing Aaron Rodgers back was a bad idea and the Pirates should have just let Will Howard start. She also thinks that the Steelers’ approach with Drew Allar isn’t exactly ridiculous. Donny Football Debrief – Aaron Rodgers donated to the US Women’s Olympic flag football team.

Ben Roethlisberger said on his podcast that he is nervous about Drew Allar, as the Steelers are planning to completely re-teach him how to play quarterback. Ben was also not a huge fan of the Allar pick in the first place, as he liked Will Howard more and watched Allar fail in big games. Mullsy thinks that the Steelers think of Allar as a potential future contributor, given that they used decently high draft capital on him. Poni questions how long McCarthy thinks it will take to develop Drew Allar into an NFL QB. Big Ben took a subtle shot at Mason Rudolph on his podcast, saying that there was one QB in his career that said he wouldn’t help him out or mentor him. The Pirates have Jared Jones coming back to the rotation, but they have a slew of young arms that are on innings limits. 2 Pirates-Fan contributors have suggested Ashcraft being the man to the bullpen upon Jones’ return. That seems like it would be a big much, considering Ashcraft has been the best starter on the team – even better than Paul Skenes. Marcell Ozuna continues to struggle, but the Pirates offense overall has been great. Imagine if this guy begins carrying his weight. Calls on the Pirates pitching predicament. HOCKEY TALK! We haven’t heard from usual guest Tyler Kennedy in a few weeks, which has sparked concern about our show. It seems like a few team reporters were swerved by the Evgeni Malkin re-signing. Jeff feels like Carmen Mlodzinski is the man that will head to the bullpen, but there is a greater than zero percent chance Bubba Chandler moves there. Are the days on the field over for Andrew McCutchen after he was DFA’d by the Rangers earlier today? Jeff wants there to be a shining moment for Cutch in the future in Pittsburgh. How much more time does Marcell Ozuna get due to his struggles? Jeff agreed with a few others that there is a chance Braxton Ashcraft pitches out of the bullpen later this season, despite being the team’s best starter right now.
