This week's choice was a good revisit for Jack and a good one that made Rick watch it twice. Following the main protag Mima and her journey through becoming a TV star from a Pop-Idol at least that is what you are lead to think at first, but then things take a twist with her manager Rumi pretending to be Mami and eventually thinking that she is Mami and killing everyone that is portraying her in a way that Rumi does not like. It even causes Mami to question her whole outlook and leaves you on the edge until it gives you a satisfactory end. And while watching it for the first run-through may make you miss a few things watching it a second time through will really bring it all together. This week as talked about season 2 of Ajin, and honestly, for both of us, it was lacking. The story carried the poor animation, again and it certainly did answer some questions, but it left us with more or made us feel empty due to the lack of resolution from both questions being answered, and how it ended. With that, if you ventured into watching season 1 then you might as well give season 2 a watch to finish it up, and maybe in another 6 years, we will get a season 3. The animation was bad but the story was really good. Rick loved the story and could not stop saying good things about it. Jack, on the other hand, had some issues with the story and hated the animation but enjoyed the overall nonetheless. Luckily there is a season 2 so that does bump it up for us but not by much. What a great choice for this week. It is something that both of us really enjoyed. It had clean animation, book ends, and a confusing story, what more could you want? It is a short movie but it is one that you need to pay attention to or you will miss something, especially with how it starts off and the progression of the end. It also makes you think and look differently at your dreams it is well worth the watch. What a choice this week was. It had bad voice acting and dialog a story that was just bad and an ending that left you scratching your head. But at least it was an ending. They also had some funky music going on throughout the show to accompany the bad acting. This week's choice was an interesting one in that this one was a favorite of Rick and a disappointment for Jack. There was enough plot armor in this show to kill a whale. And some of it didn't even make sense. But with that being said it did have a beginning and an ending and the art was good. Where Jack and Rick differ is their view on the story and plot. Regardless they are able to laugh about it and have fun. And it is at least worth at least 1 watch for you to make a choice about it. With these would-be movies being so short they should have been combined into one especially since they could have been easily written to play off of each other. With that being said the movies were good but Memory snow is basically the equivalent to a beach episode and the Frozen Bond is the prequel that felt like it was just there to try and make you feel for Emilia and also gives you a bit of the background between Puck and Emilia. But overall the stories for both of them were lackluster. Additionally, since they are both so short and they do play off of each other a little it is best to watch them back to back basically as 1 movie thus we give it a rating as 1 movie. This week's choice causes us to have a love-hate relationship with you sitting on the throne. But overall it still was a good show that had some good music playing in the background. We also took a stab at trying to convey the frustrations that Subaru felt. And to just wrap it all up in a nice wide-open ending. Luckily there is a season 2. We conclude this week with a movie. Although given the length of the actual movie we both feel it is more along of the lines of an OVA. The story after the first 30 minutes which is basically a recap of the series, it starts picking up steam delivering some good story and good animation while also giving you more detail about the goblins. This is something that we both liked but if you have not seen the series' first you should go back and watch it after you mow it. This week's choice was a gritty one and we both thought it was really good. But viewers be warned as this there are graphic images shown that will offend some people. Goblin Slayer follows, well, Goblin Slayer as he slays, you guessed it, goblins. But the story is much deeper than that. You learn about the horrors of what goblins really are and that he is a true hero even when others do not think he is. This really shows as the series progress and the companions he acquires start to understand how hard it is to do what he does and the horrors that he has witnessed. Soul Eater was a show for the books! In that, it was a 51-episode anime, and the ending was so flimsy that it a piece of paper could cut through it. Despite that the show was entertaining and it could be followed easily. It was not thought provoking and some of the characters were annoying. But for the most part, they stayed true to their character even with a ridiculous ending. Because when fighting a Kashin all you need is a fist full of bravery and a trail of incomplete information to defeat something that is evil and yet not evil at the same time. Even though it was licensed by GKids it was nowhere near the quality it should have been. The story was decent and it did have book ends but the differences between subs and dubs were massive. Additionally, there are some points where it was one that made you scratch your head and go well that was kind of pointless. But it still had a decent overall story. The Premise for this story seems like a good idea until it is actually put into play at that then it kinda all falls apart. There are some comedic parts to the show and Rick found it pretty enjoyable with decent anime and a build-up that was good till a point for Jack. Origin is one movie where it turned out better than we were expecting but it still fell short of what we were hoping for. But for a post-apocalyptic world destroyed by a genetically modified forest on a moon, you really expect too much it was a nice change of pace from the normal. One of the biggest things that we found funny was that Agito for about half the time was yelling out Toola all the while being enhanced by the tree people of the forest so that he can take a cannon shot right to the face. This was a movie that was well worth the watch. There is a lot that happens in this movie with a deeper meaning. With the aspects being reflective of us as a whole. The character No Face was a character that could be any of us showing what being gluttonous can do to someone. The show was good for what it was although it would have been better if it was a 2 season show rather than 1 season. It has a good and solid start with a rather weak lackluster finish that did not leave a good taste in your mouth but even with that, it is a show that is worth the watch nonetheless. We liked that it was a different take on the Brolly story. The story was well it was a Dragon Ball Super it had fighting and some comedy mixed in what more could you want from this? The show is a great one if you are just starting on your journey of anime. However, if you have been a fan of the genre for a long time then this may feel a little cookie cutter for you as it did for Jack. The plot is easy to follow and easy to figure out with no real twists or turns. The animation though is good and it most certainly does give the sense that there will not be a season 2 since it does give it an actual conclusion. Although it was a good choice by Jack it did have its moments and not all of them were good with that being said it was a good show.
