This week was a rough one to get through for us, especially for Jack. We did not like the main character and actually preferred the others to the MC. The better episodes were ones that didn't really deal with him at all. But it gets even better because Rick saw this one before and he disliked it so much that he actually did not even watch it all again and instead chose to read some cliff notes which led to some good laughs and confusion. This week came as a recommendation via email from Facebook. It was one that we both saw before and it was well worth the re-visit. The one is great and it was deep in lore and story. And not just from 1 aspect but from several even referencing one of William Shakespeare's writing. It is not action-packed so if you are wanting only that this is not for you since it is a store-heavy anime. Still, regardless it is well worth the watch. While this one was certainly an interesting one. It was also a little bland for us. The story was cookie cutter, the villain was just kinda there, and then there were some things that just didn't make sense to us. But regardless it was not awful just not good. Well, this week was certainly an interesting choice that much is for sure. There were a lot of flashing texts and honestly that was of the least liked things about it. The dialog was interesting there was some character development but they showed or referenced things that we wished were actually explored rather than just randomly showing it in some scenes. There is also a complex season that we talked about that must be watched in a certain order. But it is a decent show despite the low scores and it is worth the watch. It was not a pretty good movie with a solid ending but there were some problems with it and well.... we focused on those because they were pretty massive and we had some fun talking about them and even talked about making a shirt and that is exactly what we did! The movie though was good the animation was bad and had some "data" plot armor to help protect the story but overall it was good and it is worth the watch. A continuation of a great series but rated slightly lower than the first season. This is because it left us with more questions and greater want for a season 3. This week we watched a movie and for a change, the scenery and the music were good along with the voice actors. The story not so much as it left a lot of questions. But it was certainly comedic in some spots and we both really enjoyed talking about it much more so than watching it. This week's choice was a great one for both of us and we spend a fair amount of time praising it for what we think is a great show. It is a comedy that has some really funny moments. It is a parody on the superhero genre and we feel it does pay some tribute to some other great action anime. But even with all that while it is the perfect show for Rick, Jack has some reservations about it and gives it a slightly lower score because, well we all know he is hard to please. This was a nice change of pace for the shows and it was one that we both thought was good. The story was simple and easy to follow and fairly predictable but regardless, it was a good story and enjoyable. The characters are funny and unique and when they are introduced it is not rushed nor is the introduction forced but flows seamlessly in with the story. This week was the second season of Log Horizon. And honestly, it was not that great, at least the second half was not great. The first half was really good and we both loved those 12 episodes. But to the credit of the creators, the second half did give some motivation and background to the character. The animation was clean and no real flaws that stood out to us, which is why we both gave it a 10. This was a great movie and well worth the watch. So much so that Rick and Jack actually want to buy a physical copy of it. It is an original work that actually has novels based on it which is a nice change of pace. The character development is solid, a great story that pulls you in and the icing on top is the great soundtrack. So if you are looking for a movie that will tug on your heartstrings a little in a good way and while giving you something entertaining to watch this is a movie for you! This week was a choice by Jack and while it was labeled as a horror it is not really horror in a scary aspect but rather gruesome in how people were being killed. But even with that the background stories of most of the main characters are pretty messed up and sad. But when the series is all said and done it leaves one hell of an open ending and on top of that you look back at the pure ludicrousness of it all and just cannot help but laugh. This week's choice was given to us on Twitter by @Tobiyashi067. It was a good revisit for Jack and Rick thought it was pretty good too. Even with the open ending, it was still a good watch in prep for season 2 coming out in January 20212. That all being said, this show does not waste time hooking you and making you sit on the edge of your seat. It is also one of the few shows that show you the dangers and what is happening right up front leaving nothing to your imagination. But do not worry it's not one that takes away from the enjoyment of the show and instead, it just gets progressively worse for the protagonists. The animation style is also something that we both found enjoyable especially when it comes to the characters to help convey the emotion then you couple all that with some great music then you are all set for a thrill of a show that will leave you wanting season 2.
