For this choice, Rick shot from the hip with a gut choice, and we both feel like was certainly not a disappointment and it was well worth the watch. Though the overall length was short it, it gave a solid story with no needless fluff. The music was great as well as the animation style. This is certainly worth your time to watch. However, the ending is not a happy ending so if that is something that you are looking for with a happy book ending. This week's choice was a good one although it did have some flaws and plot persocoms. The protagonist was not likable for us and there were some issues that we had taken issue with. A lot of the story seemed bland, which was also a part of its draw, or like it was just there and served no purpose and did not move the story along. This week was a great choice. Once that we will admit (or at least Jack will admit) are a little biased on. The story was great and the music is one that is beautifully composed. The heart and soul of the music and characters come across perfectly and there is no "Training" montage for them because they are in a manner of speaking already professionals in their own right. So it leaves you with a pure story and no filler. We both agree that if it is not one that you have seen that you need to watch it. Next week's choice is Chobits. What a great movie for this week. Being from the director of Paprica and Perfect Blue this original work was certainly unique and entertaining. The storytelling was one that was entertaining and heart-touching. The comedy in it was a little dark or not very light-hearted but it went with the mood and did not feel out of place in it. However, if you are looking for something psychological then this is not the one for you because it certainly is not that. It is a story about 3 people who are homeless and happen to stumble upon a baby they go through a journey to try and return the baby to the parents and they go through some trials and you learn about their past and how they come to terms and resolve the problems with their past. After several years we finally got a season 3! But it was half the length of the first 2 seasons, and honestly, we were okay with that. We felt that if it was any longer the 12 it would have done more harm than good. The show overall lightly touched on politics for the world and also showed you what was happening to Krusty with some solid world-building and explanations. This week's choice was certainly an interesting one. It was basically a continuation of the first movie however they did not really deal with anything having to do with the first movie. The flow was off pace and the dog, to us, was so out of place we could not help but be drawn to it.  This week was a great trip down memory lane for both Rick and Jack. It rekindled our love of the series and the movie sent us on a trip down memory lane. The Soundtrack is one of the best out there if not the best and the animation still stands up even after 20 years! The story wastes no time in setting the foundation for the movie as well as helping those who have not seen the series understand the dynamics of the Bebop crew and who they are each individually. Even if you have never seen the anime before this is still worth a watch and it is a great introduction to anime in general for those who are still new to the genre. This week was a trip down memory lane with Ghost in the Shell. It certainly was one that you could dissect. The animation, for Jack, did not age well but the story and movie overall did and it is one that can be watched enjoyed even 26 years later. But the ending is insanely open and it certainly leads you to think that there will be a sequel and luckily there is. What a great choice this week was! The story was great (although predictable for Jack) it was not earth-shattering but it was entertaining and it answered almost all the questions it laid out for you. We also enjoyed that when there was something that did not make sense it made a full circle for you and answered the question which helped out a lot. The main character is written well and compels you to like him and his awkwardness. All in all, this is one show that we would both recommend you watch. What a great choice for us to watch by Jeb off of our Discord Server and we were not disappointed in the choice! Especially for it being an original work but even with that being said it is certainly not without its flaws or disappointments. The animation was clean, the soundtrack was great and it ended with an absolute ending so that there is no leeway for a second season. Thanks to a misunderstanding on Jack's part instead of them watching just 1 season of Tokyo Ghoul:re they watched both seasons of it. And luckily it was a good thing because season 1 of re was lackluster at best. It also never really answered any questions but instead, it just asked more questions and it did not give you any answers. But season 2 did give you answers and it did help you to understand some things about what was going on with the series. But even with that, they left us with more questions than anything else and make us wonder about what was going on. This among other various problems resulted in them giving mid to low scores. Season 2 (or root A) is a straight continuation from the season and it picks up right where it left off too. Which makes it even better if you are watching it back to back. Not only do they help answer some of the questions that you had they also give you more insight as to what is going on. Again our favorite character is Hide and he plays a big role in this even though he is not the main character. This week was a great choice and one movie that we both loved. It was a great story but what makes this one really interesting is that this Studio Ghibli movie is not technically a Studio Ghibli because it actually came out 1 year before the studio was created. It was the first movie directed by Miyazaki and it was also based on the manga that he wrote. All that aside the music is great and the animation even stands the test of time and it is worth the watch no matter who you are or your preference.  Next week's choice is Tokyo Ghoul Root A (season 2). Aside from a one killer opening (literally), the character development is solid although a tad slow for 1 season, for Jack's taste. The pacing overall was just right none the less and it was something to behold. That all being said they left you with quite a few questions and with a feeling that makes you want to know what just happened or if Riza is even still alive. This week was certainly an interesting one, even though it was not highly rated for us it still is part of a broader series of shows and movies from what we know. The show to start certainly did not give you an impression that the actors were great or that they even cared for the show to even try. But as the show progresses it lends itself to a more in-depth story with the reason why the acting was so bad. Because there was an actual reason why it was bad that helped save it even if only a little. But even with all the questions are you left with, the empty feeling you are given when you are done watching it just cut it down even more. Next week's choice is Tokyo Ghoul. This week was part 2 of Terra... Yeah, that sums it up. It leaves you with a "What the hell?" type of feeling but not in a great way. They also changed a lot from the first season going from something more dark to a brighter more plot-driven season that focuses on some strong plot drugs, as we like to call it, and inconsistencies and it left you with more of a "what?" type of feeling. We survived another week with a show we actually did not care for. It was bad and for us did not really have a story except for the first episode or 2 and the last episode or 2. You also learn the background of a lot of characters only to have them killed off right after you learn their background. That was one thing they did really well, which killed a bunch of people right after giving you a back story. For both Jack and Rick it was not a great watch, especially for Jack. This week for us was quite the show. Jack hated it and was filled with disappointment when he noticed it was 24 episodes and not 13 along with several other complaints. But Rick enjoyed it viewing it more positively and getting more enjoyment out of it than Jack.
