His signature work, 'Elijah', reimagines the great Old-Testament prophet's ministry and miracles; while 'Obama's Dream' takes the former president on a night-time journey of transformation, thus exposing the destructive traits of empire handed over to Donald Trump!Political theatre is also seen through the lens of poetry in 'Verses Versus Empire', Abdiel's three-volume series covering in turn the Bush, Obama, and Trump eras. His collections also include 'Well Versed: To Shakespeare, Poets, and the Performing Arts', which features poems voiced by famed British actors in BBC broadcasts, among them Kenneth Branagh, Judi Dench, and Mark Rylance. But Abdiel's own skills as voice actor and narrator make for especially dramatic readings. You can hear excerpts from all his books at poetprophet.com.In the non-fiction department, Abdiel brings 'Dueling the Dragon: Adventures in Chinese Media and Education', his memoir of triumph and trial crafted over 10 years of living and working in China. And 'The Gourmet Gospel: A Spiritual Path to Guilt-Free Eating' had an even longer gestation period of decades! Finally, in fiction, Abdiel has published 'The Christmas Tree', a children's tale imagining the journey of a beloved tree from forest to market to home to sidewalk, until grace intervenes! As an actor, Abdiel has embodied most of the major Shakespearean roles, and on stages from New York to London to Beijing, though perhaps his most famous appearance is in the hit short film series, 'The Expert'. Abdiel first encountered Buenos-Aires-based Tango orchestra, Orquesta Típica Fernández Fierro, in 2016. Here included with the orchestra's kind permission. This poem is from his WELL VERSED collection. An orquesta típica includes a front line of bandoneón players — "bandoneonistas" — the bandoneón being at the heart of Argentine-Tango music. The back line comprises string players.

  • 27 — on "Sacred Selfishness"!

    14/04/2019 Duración: 21min

THE GOURMET GOSPEL. Equipped with the mind of Christ, and seeing with our own souls "The marvel of the everlasting will," we are, to quote Tennyson, "in that mystery/ Where God-in-man is one with man-in-God." We may be fools in the eyes of the world, but we have become "natural overthrowers" as Christ was. Abdiel concludes with his latest entry from his VERSES VERSUS EMPIRE series (Get it? It's a homonym!) on the seizure of Julian Assange from the Ecuadorian embassy in London.

Rather, we are now free to embrace a "healthy hedonism"! Abdiel also shares the latest from his VERSES VERSUS EMPIRE series (Get it? It's a homonym!), on US violence against the people of Yemen.

  • 25 — Countering the Church's "Toxic Theological Cocktail"!

    02/04/2019 Duración: 22min

THE GOURMET GOSPEL. Preachers and pastors routinely practise "spiritual necrophilia" by labeling Christians "saint" AND "sinner", when the "sinner" was crucified with Christ and no longer lives! Abdiel also lampoons the vile 'General Confession' of the Church of England. Like the source of a sealed spring or a sunbeam of light, the Christian's spirit is not just eternal but immutable and untaintable. "None can touch, taint, or muddy the source."

  • 24 — Our Natural Aligment with the Will of God

    26/03/2019 Duración: 21min

THE GOURMET GOSPEL. Our transformation into a "Slave to Righteousness" is instantaneous. The "new" has come, while the "old" has been crucified with Christ—as thoroughly deceased as the dead parrot in the famed Monty Python sketch ;) Abdiel sets forth 10 transformational truths and invites you to take them to heart. He also shows how the inner guidance mechanism of the Law-in-our-Hearts sets us free!

  • 23 — Heaven's Biography — "No Record of Wrongs"

    17/03/2019 Duración: 21min

THE GOURMET GOSPEL. God embraces our "holy intention" as fact, and writes our biographies remembering the best of our lives, for Love "keeps no record of wrongs." Even our own memories are cleansed, much as Dante's conception of the River Lethe removing all memory of sin, while the River Eunoe "strengthens/ the memory of every good deed done." Abdiel also reveals how the Bible offers innumerable ways to enter Christ's Way to Heaven. AND no "heathen" is barred!

  • 22 — What Does It Mean to be "In Christ"?

    11/03/2019 Duración: 21min

THE GOURMET GOSPEL. Being "in Christ" means not only that "no sin is perceived" when God looks at us, but also that Christ's achievements and victory are accorded to us! Meanwhile, a father's love for his son, whatever his weakness or failures, is exquisitely described in the 1992 Olympic bid of British 400-meter runner, Derek Redmond.

  • 21 — Martin Luther, and Innocence Restored by Christ

    03/03/2019 Duración: 21min

THE GOURMET GOSPEL. The next installment of Abdiel's Bible-based self-help book on the themes of Grace — or "the free and unmerited favor of God" — and "merciful munching." Enter Martin Luther, with his fiery logic to hail "a mere passive righteousness." Also, Abdiel's TRIBUTE OF TRIBUTES to Shakespeare. ENJOY!
