Audiences were aggravated in 1989 when Back to the Future Part II ended on cliff-hanger. Well, they didn't have to wait long--only 6 months--to see how Marty and Doc, once again, got back to the future. What is easily the most kid-friendly entry in the series doesn't necessarily mean it's the worst. Third time's the charm it seems, because this finale is considered by most to be the second best installment in the franchise! Taking on one of the greatest, and at the time, most popular TV properties of all time--the once acclaimed director set his sights on bringing a live action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender to the big screen. Banking on a runaway success trilogy--Shayamalan had the backing of some of the biggest producers in Hollywood such as Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall. Opening on the United State's biggest holiday weekend--July 4th--there was a lot riding on Shyamalan's career.
