Sinopsis

Once in awhile, if one is up for the thrill, a person will stumble across a spectacularly crappy specimen of culture that is so terrible, so wince-inducing, and so hideous that, when consumed, will immediately plunge the viewer into a flustered paroxym of disgust, a confused state of shock, and a rabid cycling through the 5 stages of grief ("Something this bad cannot possibly exist", "Maybe, maybe if I close my eyes this won't exist?", "I'm so depressed that this actually exists" , etc.), ending with, finally, a state of stunned amazement. And so, so many questions. What just happened?Did that just happen? Who could have let that happen? We at the podcast Pursuit of Crappiness have made it our sole mission to find those pieces of crap in life for our listeners and answer those questions. On the first of every month, well discuss some film, TV, book, event, (or anything really) that is so bad it melts our faces offRaiders of the Lost Ark-styleand then take an objective look at its story and creation. Episodios

  • Episode 3 – The Room

    01/01/2017 Duración: 47min

John, Emma, and Beryl discuss their extremely distressing--emphasize, extremely distressing--viewing of Tommy Wiseau's film The Room, the story behind the $6 million dollar train wreck (seriously, you could have paid for the educations of, like, 4 English majors), and the cult origin of show goers throwing spoons in the theater. They also decide that sex scenes that don't last for a solid 20 minutes and use the same shots over and over (what, did he think we wouldn't notice? This is not Snapchat for god's sake) are a complete waste of space.

  • Episode 2 – Star Wars Holiday Special

    16/12/2016 Duración: 47min

Have you heard of the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special? Perhaps not--it was so bad that George Lucas tried to bury it. But don't worry! This month, the gang at the POC unearths this priceless jewel of TV history (if it can be called TV, we were vacillating between "Adult Swim gag reel" and "failed interpretative dance audition tapes") and talk about Mark Hamill in eyeliner, an alternative universe in which Julia Child is a space alien, and what turns Wookies on. And you definitely don't want to miss what turns Wookies on.

  • Episode 1 – My Immortal

    15/12/2016 Duración: 42min

Emma, John, and Beryl discuss my Immortal, the worst fanfiction ever written (fact), and speculate on its mysterious authorship, questionable sexual anatomical labeling, My Chemical Romance Hogsmeade tour schedules (but have you heard "I'm Not Okay" with the delightful, bubbly kick of butter beer?), and the plausibility of Draco Malfoy being goth. Don't miss John's Fifty Shades-esque readings of various characters doing it.

  • Episode 0 – Intro

    13/12/2016 Duración: 08min

For every beautiful thing in the world that re-affirms your faith in humanity, there is a piece of crap that tears your faith right back down. Here at the Pursuit of Crappiness we search for those things and talk about them. We find out the story behind how they were created, and try, as best we can, to analyze them. It can be anything in life, from movies to book to the 2016 Election. Hosted by Beryl Zhao, John Hogue, and Emma Wick, this podcast is updated on the first of each month. This is an intro episode where we talk about who we are and the future of the podcast. For more information, follow us on Twitter @CrapPodcast or go to our website pursuitofcrappiness.com.
