Switchblade Sistas Vintage!!!! I had a ball in my studio with this amazing woman. Her name is Diona Jackson, Miss Jackson if your nasty. Her laugh is infections and her light and energy will carry you away. We talked about how she came to start a business in vintage and uniquely how being a woman of color can be a stand out is great ways. One of my take aways were "Oh well just got to do it". Yes the Great Sir Mix A Lot of the northern region of boogie-town, inspired us to appreciate the circumference of a woman's booty. Hail to this wise and all seeing lord. I have often thought of my booty as a freeloader to whom I needed to part with but subsequently I have changed my mind.  Due to the overwhelming cry from my countrymen (my husband mainly and a few strange men and women on the street) I have decided to give said butt a reprieve. On the Chasing Fifty Podcast I was fortunate to spend time with one of my favorite people, Ed Faris. He is my brother from another mother and my pseudo business coach. We as women can find out so much from men if only the  guys would just loosen up put on the fuzzy robe with us and TALK ..lol That is what I love about my Bro Ed.  He is quick to share his two highly taxed cents. In our conversation we covered love, social media and all the in between with the respect to age. I learned a few nuggets about men that will save my hubby some grief and earn me some wife points. Ed said  "men don't have an opinion on everything" and it floored me. I never heard that before and it was so insightful... I went home and immediately used my new found info on my hubby and Jhedi mind tricked him! It is a beautiful thing to see the world thru the eyes of the opposite sex because it makes me appreciate being a woman even MORE.( don't worry Men, I do love you too :) Please click the link and listen to the battle of the sexes..

If you haven't heard of this amazing woman ,you have NOW! Sharon Ross is the woman behind  Afrovivalist, a prepping website. I met Sharon on a film project and when she said she was a prepare I got excited. I hadn't seen any minorities on the web that prepped so she was a UNICORN. I loved the videos on YouTube showing how to be prepared but  meeting  a woman of color prepping  was unique. She is sweet and so giving and ready to teach anyone how to create a plan. She has a great website and is working on her videos and future workshops. It brings to mind HOW PREPARED ARE YOU? No matter what the calamity, without a plan your household will suffer greatly. I met with Sharon in her North Portland home in her study and we had champagne of course and then moved on to tea with freeze dried lemons, YUM!!!!!! We had fun throughout the interview and i shared the best of our time together.  We chatted  between Sharon cooking some of her stored yumminess and I hope you enjoy our time together and I look forward to sharin

I first saw her vintage trailer on a Swedish blog and was surprised when I saw it parked on Alberta one afternoon. At that time, there were few trailers used as clothing shops and to have a quasi famous one here in Portland was SUPER COOL!! I loved her business model and when she moved her shop to a brick and mortar it allowed me to think I could evolve my dream as well. Vanessa is one of the business owners I respect for her willingness to the create relationships. All  businesses should  build communities and not just entities. She was very gracious to sit with me for a sister-chat on my podcast. One of the funniest takeaways was when Vanessa said “Keep your eyes on your own paper”(lol). Those of us who want to have a business need to be true to ourselves even as we draw from others. Be inspired!

This woman is a my Fairy Goddess Sister! She is a singer songwriter , artist, painter, teacher and band member of Quarterflash for over 20+ years. We met on a road trip to sing in southern Oregon and we’ve been sisters ever since. We sat in her home which has ruby wine layers of velvet with vintage pieces to make you drool, for our chat.
