Eric Grauffel is by far one of the best shooters in the world. He’s won seven World Championships in Practical Shooting (IPSC) and shoots in several divisions. Eric always dominates the competition and is known for being a Terminator on the range. Eric is from France and was a guest on the 2017 Shooter’s Summit. He also has been going at the fitness aspect of shooting and totally changed his program to include workouts along with shooting practice. With the COVID pandemic, Eric was able to start instructing online and now has a waitlist to get into the program. BJ Norris is a World Champion. BJ shoots a bunch of shooting sports but is known for his killer speed at Steel Challenge. He has won numerous World Championships in that sport as well as top placements in USPSA, IDPA, IPSC, and 3 Gun. What does it take to be fast? Pat McNamara served over 22 years in special operations and worked in the Unit. Like so many of the top tier cadre, they focused heavily on the fundamentals of marksmanship followed up with major doses of competition. Pat is a highly motivated individual who inspires thousands of Instagram fans with his Sentinel Sermons and Basic Dude Skills clips. Pat has a podcast, The School of Badassery, and has written two books and an e-book (along with writing in several magazines.) Chili Palmer (his nickname) was one of the military advisors for the hit Netflix film “Extraction” starring Chris Hemsworth. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, I have to say why not? If you are into excellent action movies with fantastic gunplay, then “Extraction” is for you. Too often Hollywood gets it wrong with things like taking the safety off a Glock or holding a pistol with a crazy grip. What about non-existent reloads? All of this can take people in the know (like the folks of the Firearms Nation) out of the movie and walking away with a big thumbs down. Well, the producers of “Avenger’s Endgame” and “Captain America: Civil War” got it right. They hired Chili Palmer. Chili was not the only advisor on the film but his contributions made the climax of the film stand out as one of the best action sequences in a long time. Watch it you’ll see what I mean. Kyle Lamb is a former Army veteran who served the majority of time in Special Operations, and in the Unit (SOFD-D Delta Force). Most people just say “The Unit”. During that time he served in Iraq, Bosnia, and fought in the Battle of Mogadishu. Once he left the military, Kyle starting teaching firearms instruction and also formed his gear company, Viking Tactics. Kyle has also written several shooting books and a book on leadership called “Leadership in the Shadows” (which he narrates the audiobook version). Kyle also has a very successful podcast, “Team VTAC Podcast” where he interviews other gun industry people and covers historical events. Kyle is currently writing two more books that we talk about on this show. Jack Carr is a former Navy SEAL who served in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Once he retired from the Navy, Jack went on to pursue his second career goal of becoming a fiction writer. Jack released his first book, “The Terminal List” in 2018 and followed up with the highly successful “True Believer” in 2019. Both stories contained the same main character, James Reece who was also a Navy SEAL. The great thing about those two novels was the fact the Jack was a been there, done that kind of guy so he infused the stories with realistic tactics and a strong knowledge of guns and gear. On April 14th, 2020, Jack’s third book, “Savage Son” will be released. It was great having Jack on the podcast to discuss his new book as well as other interesting topics. This is the second part of the interview with the authors of the book “Match Mentality”. In the first interview, I spoke with world champion Ben Stoeger and in this interview, I’m speaking with grandmaster shooter Joel Park. Joel is a competitive shooter in USPSA and also is a firearms instructor. One of the unique competitions Joel shoots are bowling pin matches. Bowling pin competitions are fast and it’s “man on man” shoot-offs. The mental challenges are very high and Joel’s methods of practice and mental management lead him to success. Ben Stoeger is a world champion pistol shooter. Ben is also a national champion many times over here in the USA and now teaches firearms classes as well. One of Ben’s passions is writing books and he believes it’s important for instructors to write and get their thoughts out. This is a “Part II” episode from a previous session I did with Jon “MochaBear” Dufresne where he talked about low light shooting. William Petty is a rising star in the tactical training arena. Petty, who is a law enforcement officer, has developed a highly popular vehicle tactics class that is now being taught by certified instructors around the country. We operate with and within vehicles all day long so it is necessary to understand the dynamics when it comes to winning a gunfight around a car. Michael Bane is one of the top producers in the gun entertainment business. For over 20 years, he has created and sometimes hosted several of the top gun centric television shows on the Outdoor Channel including, “Shooting Gallery”, “Gun Stories with Joe Mantegna”, and “Best Defense”. Michael also has over 600 episodes of his Down Range Radio and now, for 2020 Michael is launching a new podcast. “MichaelBane.TV” is the new show and website. Michael has always been an innovator and plans to bring his audience a different way to get the content whether it’s audio or video. Michael and I met at the 2016 SHOT Show and we did an interview that became a yearly event. This is a replay of episode 110 from back in May 2019. After the horrible attack at the church in White Settlement, Texas I felt compelled to re-release this episode specifically since it deals with how to protect your church and synagogues. Two institutions under attack. Wayne Black is a security expert. His company, Wayne Black and Associates handles executive protection, security, and investigations for a lot of high profile clients. Some of those clients also include churches and synagogues who now face threats every day. So long 2019 and hello 2020. In this final episode of the year, I look back at the top three episodes (in terms of downloads) in the past three months. JJ Racazza, Ron Avery and Yong Lee. All top competitive shooters and all were involved in law enforcement (interesting…) JJ Racazza is a world champion shooter and is always at the top of the leader board. I took a class from JJ and he taught an interesting theory on how to attack targets in order to speed up transitions. We also talk about how he sets up his guns. JJ Racaza Episode 123 Ron Avery past away this year and it was a loss for the shooting community. Ron has a science background and he brought that approach to shooting and how he taught. Bennie Cooley has been a legend in the 3 Gun community with some of the top stars of both 3 Gun and modern warriors all learning and training with him. Ernest Langdon Served 12 years on active duty in the US Marine Corps.  Throughout that career, he was stationed in Panama as well as the Persian Gulf.  Some of his duties included being the Chief Instructor for the 2nd Marine Division Scout Sniper School and at the High Risk Personnel Course.  He also was the Platoon Sergeant for a Close Quarter Battle and Designated Marksman team and Sniper Platoon. Ernest is a certified California POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training) firearms instructor and has attended over 35 formal shooting schools.
