Another Metal Podcast

This week's episode has a nice, heavy arc from hardcore to modern melo-death, to doom and death, and finally finishing off on a blackened note from bands hailing from the US, Germany, Chile, China, Hungary, Finland, Sweden, and Canada. As usual, all the music played is new within the past 2 or 3 months, so use the playlist to check out the bands' new releases and merch.

It's no hyperbole to say there's too little time to listen to all the new metal out there. And with only one hour a week on this show (I really need to push up that runtime, huh?) I can only give you people the barest taste of the current loudness available out there.

After taking last week off, AMP is back with another installment of brand-new heavy metal. This week's bands hail from the US, Finland, Canada, Greece, and Germany, so crank it up and make some neighbors angry.

Here's episode 31 of our weekly heavy metal podcast. This is an ugly one, but ugly in the good horns-up sort of way. This week's bands are almost all either blackened, deathened, or somewhere in between, hailing from the likes of Romania, Slovenia, Sweden, US, Finland, Serbia, Italy, and Poland.

The big three oh. There's nothing special planned, just another hour-long block of great new heavy metal. I wouldn't want to disappoint anyway, at least not anymore than I already do when people tune in expecting an interesting personality. So none of that this week, just killer music from the US, Sweden, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Canada, and the UK. Just as the lame episode titles will never stop, this show too shall never end. At least not until bands stop making loud ugly music for me to play for everyone. Here's your weekly hour blast of new metal from all corners. I really need to bump this thing's runtime up a bit; as metalheads I'm sure you're all quite familiar with the old adage 'Too Much Metal, Not Enough Time'. But then again, the 'reviews' part of Another Metal Review Blog and Podcast has been a little more lacking of late, so... priorities I guess.

As the title says, there's some headbanging to be had this week. Not that there isn't every week I do these podcast things, but I thought I would stress the point for once. If you listen to this show at work or on the bus, don't be afraid to get the neck muscles moving. If anyone looks at you weird just yell SLAAAYER! at the top of your lungs; someone will understand.

The global grab bag of heavy metal rolls on with episode 26, featuring bands from the Czech Republic, Northern Ireland, Serbia, Russia, New Zealand, Sweden, Norway, Greece, France, Scotland, and the wilds of West Virginia. The music is just about as diverse as the range of countries too; there's doom, death, metalcore, black metal, and some good ol' fashioned hard rock.

This is a filthy one. Whether it's some demonic sludge-doom from the upcoming Clouds Taste Satanic release, the black metal ferociousness of Endless Horizon, or the thrashtasticness of Aggravator there is little room left for prettiness or comfort. Strap in boys and girls, and get nasty with your metal.

Episode 24 is out, a bit of a grab back in the first half and then a really black metal heavy back end. Bands this week hail from the US, Spain, Portugal, Australia, Armenia, Chile, and Finland.

This week's episode of our heavy metal music podcast spans a nice gamut between instrumental progressive music and black metal with death metal logically in the middle for a nice flow of heavy music. Or I just threw a bunch of kick-ass tracks together and made a podcast episode out of it. You pick your preferred story.

This week's episode is, in retrospect, a downward spiral of a show. Things start off energetic and hopeful with some great new thrash, then someone at the metal party pulls out a joint and things get doomy and stony before finally ending the show with the mournful shrieks of black metal. It's like listening to a DJ queue songs on the come-down from his last Prozac.

I hope everyone enjoyed last week's summary of the past twenty episodes, it was fun to pick out some of my favorite tracks so far. But it's time to get to the new stuff this week, so here's some doom, death, thrash, and black metal from the US, UK, Finland, Greece, Brazil, Norway, and Australia.

Episode 20 is a little different; instead of the usual one hour of new metal it's a two and a half hour special consisting of some of my favorite tracks from the last twenty episodes (technically nineteen, but I like round numbers). I spread the gamut pretty far, so there should be something in this one for everyone, whether it be stoner, death, prog, or anything in between.

Episode 19 of our heavy metal show is two parts death metal (both new and old-schools), one part doom, and a big part black metal for the last segment. Countries represented include Sweden, UK, US, Canada, Costa Rica, Germany, Portugal, Ireland, and France.

Episode 18 is here (nearly a day late), and somehow this one ended up an exclusively death metal episode. There's a bit in it for everyone; from modern technical stuff to do the downright primitive and primal.

Pardon me while I clear the smoke from this week's edition of the heavy metal podcast; the show starts with a nearly half-hour block of great stoner/sludge/bluesy metal before exploring some varied death metal and finally a few grimy old-school metal tracks.

This one starts with thrash and death, gets a little blackened, and eventually finds where the stash was hidden. In following a bit of a trend, I've discovered that when I end the show with something a bit 'off' there's a 9-in-10 chance it came from either Portland or Finland. Someone may want to look into that.
