Learning ABOUT God can be a dangerous thing if you think of God as a hard lesson to be learned. We are told to LOVE God and to love Him, we must KNOW Him. So we are learning who God is and what He said! That is all doctrine is! Benefits of learning biblical truth (doctrine): Greater love for God. There is no one greater you will ever meet or enjoy more. Learning to study His Word more effectively. To know Him, you need to hear from Him. More ability to explain and defend your faith in God. Someone so great deserves to be introduced! If you will humbly work to hear God's Word and love Him, it will change your life. I look forward to continuing the journey with you. Pastor Bruce Garner // April 11, 2021 "Isn't everybody just guessing when talking about God?" It's a fair question. Beginning this Sunday in our worship gatherings and small groups, we begin a journey into the basics of what the Bible teaches. This is often called "doctrine" or "theology." But don't let the terms scare or bore you - the Bible is filled with God's truth, and our study is just a simple way to organize and learn it. Some people worry that if they dive into doctrine, they may become a bit odd. (Or stuck up!) But no need to worry. You just have to study God's Word with the right attitude and for the right reason. As I will show you on Sunday, knowing God is the very BEST thing that can happen to you. We will keep it simple and relational. With God's help, we will become more like the people He wants us to be!
