Peole with children know all too well the importance of making sure that they recieve a good education.  Although most of the instruction that a child gets may come from a public or private school, their earliest lessons come from home and sometimes church. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) held an annual convention at the end of July.  They addressed a number of issues that face African-Americans, in particular, the vicious cycle of crime and unemployment that plagues black men and youths.  They cite the loss of manufacturing jobs, shrinking government jobs and the recession as major contributors, but the primary factor cited was the low level of educaton or rather, the lack thereof.  Is pushing for higher standards in urban schools where the majority of the students are minorities really the key to breaking the vicious cycle of violence and prison?  Will pushing our youth to strive for educational excellance keep them from becoming fodder for the criminal justice system or should we be looking benath the surface of inferior education?  Join us as we search the scriptures for answers to these questions and more. No one can argue the point that morals have declined in the black community. No one gets offended because their bride is already "broken in" and not a virgin. We are taught that marriage is bad, the woman is going to change the man and men are dogs and must be emasculated. How is a marriage supposed to be ordered according to the Bible? Then there is the problem of no marriage at all. Black men don't want to marry a loud mouth angry woman. They just want to have sex with her? Sounds crazy but many will say I didn't know she was like this or he was like that. The Bible gives clear instructions on what to look for in a future husband or wife. This is a follow-up to "Dad's Rage Got Son Killed", which aired on The Virtual Living Room, Sunday July 3, 2011.  A local NY news channel acquired surveillance video of the fight that resulted in the death of 19 year old Isayah Muller and his father being charged with assault and weapons possession.  Prior to the video being aired, one could only speculate as to who was to blame for the incident and if any partes involved had an opportunity to avoid it.  Now Isayah's family is calling for "justice" against the two parking lot attendants.  Was the law correct in charging Andre Muller? The Apostle Paul warns the Church that they should not be ignorant concerning spiritual gifts. Indeed many spiritual gifts are named in the Bible including gifts of faith, healing, prophecy and tongues. But in a world under the influence of Satanic forces these gifts are often misunderstood and perverted. Perhaps none so misunderstood as speaking in tongues. Many in the Christian Church profess that speaking in tongues is prayer in secret code between them and God that Satan cannot understand, they say that it is the tongue of angels and that only those filled with the Holy Spirit are capable of performing this gift.
