The Sabbath most christians think it is on Sunday the first day of the week. Most Christians dont even observe it why? Wasn't it created by God? If God Created why don't we observe it. A recent article posted in the Love & Relationships section on MSN.com compaired the divorce rates for sates in the Bible Belt verses those of typically more liberal northern states.  According to data from The Census Bureau, marriage and divorce rates are higher in the south than the north.  The article suggests, “Values about premarital sex associated with the Bible Belt and rural America may be encouraging people to marry early, at ages when they are likely to have less education and less income to support a long-lasting marriage.”  Some of the reasons listed for lower divorce rates in some northeast states are: people waiting longer to get married because they are pursuing a career, "testing the waters more." and premarital sex being less stigmatized.  So, what does the Bible say about marriage and divorce? Although this story hit the news back in May of 2009, it still remains relevant today.  Desmond Hatchett of Knoxville, Tennessee, then 29 years old, had fathered 21 children with 11 different women.  The children ranged in age from 11 moths to 11 years old.  Because he works a minimum wage job, he is unable to financially support all of the children, thus landing him in jail. Alderman Bob Donovan and Alderman Joe Dudzik issued an official statement in response to the flash mob attacks that occured at the Wisconsin State Fair on Aughust 4th.  They claim the violence is a "reprecussion" for the many ills that have directly affected the African American community.  One solution they suggest is "that change must come from within the African American commuinty."  They cite a high illegitimacy rate, little to no positive male involvement, little to no supervision for children and a high teen pregnancy rate as some of the issues that will address the underlying cause of "black youth violence" at its root.  While some may consider these "generalizations" imflammatory, it begs the question.  Do these statements have any merrit or is it just another case of racist white people "telling it like they see it?"  Join us as we discuss this topic according to the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Holy Bible.
