Sockscast

If you liked any one of the past sixty-one episodes of the Sockscast, you're sure to at least moderately enjoy this one! This Sockscast starts things out with a VERY special announcement from Polly and John, then we move onto John only playing Castlevania games for the entirety of two weeks, and Rhete only watching Japanese Cartoons. What's not to love?

Danilo Dias and Thais Weiller of JoyMasher, makers of fun retro throwbacks Oniken, Odallus: The Dark Call, and the upcoming Blazing Chrome took some time out of their busy schedules to sit down and have a chat with Polly about game design, the creation of their games, and what we can look forward to in the future from them!

Your pals at the Sockscast knew you might need a little somethin-somethin' to get a few laughs going what with recent happenings, and we're here to deliver with Rhete finally getting around to playing a game Polly's been telling him to for five years, John maybe or maybe not turning stripper, and Polly leading the charge on Nintendo's new whatever the hell.

A new year, a new Sockscast! Well...I mean it's a new episode, not that we're necessarily doing anything new. That said, we start the year off by welcoming back our good pal and Power Rangers blogger (no, seriously!) Samurai Karasu. This episode is jam packed with lots of fun discussion about console flashcarts, robots, genies, pretty boys on road trips, and the precious cinnamon rolls of Danganronpa. We may also figure out what NES game is worth still paying $50 for!

Sooooo...This is a bit of an oddball thing, but follow me here. During the Christmas break, Sockspals Rainiac and Styles Rockman (wrasslin' fans) conned myself and Maple (NOT wrasslin' fans) into watching a dumb wrasslin' match while we chatted on Discord. Unbeknownst to them, I decided to have a little fun and record the entire thing and what we ended up with was a pretty weird and extremely dumb rifftrack that I'm releasing here. For this to fully work, you're gonna wanna have access to video of the 2001 Royal Rumble match (this isn't hard to find) and then you'll need to cue the video up to the audio. Don't worry, I make sure to give a countdown for when to start so that they're in sync. Sooo...enjoy? I dunno. This was a pretty dumb off-the-cuff thing to throw out there, but I'm sure there's SOMEONE out there that'll have a use for this, yeah?

The amazing year of music that has been 2016 comes to an end as Taylor and Polly drop the top of the crop right on top of your head with their five to one best albums of the year. Beepner also has some super phat tracks to share with you with his top three albums of the year! It has been another amazing year for music, with solid releases seemingly just falling out of the sky every week.
