Sockscast

Time to get yourself nice and comfy, but not too comfy else you won't be able to tune in and rock out to these expertly chosen tunes that mattered this year. Today, we're catching Albums of 2017 entries 10 through 6.

The dog days of summer are well past us at this point, which means it's the time of the year when we're all forced inside to become media consuming madfolk! In this episode, John gets extra weepy and plays every single Dragon Quest game known to man while Rhete and Polly find themselves as the culprits in a nonsensical killing game...AGAIN!

Well, it finally happened! The Sonic Episode that John's been hoping that would happen for the entirety of our three-year run has finally come to pass, riding in on the coattails of the recently released Sonic Mania. Join us for a two-hour discussion of not only the latest 2D Sonic hontness but a ton of extra Sonic lore as well. Don't worry, I'm sure it'll go by real fast. Eh? Eh?

If you didn't have the good fortune of being able to be there for the live shindig, we got you covered with a nice audio archive of the festivities. Polly, Rhete, and John do the do, talkin' about a lot of cool things and are joined at various points by our pals Beepner, Sayara, and Taylor who also talked about a lot of cool things! Sweet Jesus is it hot out, so it's a good thing you got a nice, breezy Sockscast to help you beat the heat! In this refreshing new episode, Polly's beating up all the dudes, Rhete's still-a-witchin', and John's doing just a little bit of everything from being a cute bullet barfing little girl to being lost in caves for hours!

You may remember back in February that Polly, John, and a few other super creative folks dropped their psychological horror-themed visual novel Her Lullaby. Well now, Polly, John, Carmichael Micaalus, Taylor, and Andrea Ritsu have all gotten together and we're all here to give you the ins and outs of Her Lullaby's creation as well as run through the plot in the most spoileriffic manner possible!

Get your summer started off right with the hot new spew from the Sockscast crew. Eww... In this episode, John's gone and released another game... Christ that's like nineteen this year or something, isn't it? Rhete's also hangin' around and he's got some witchin' to do, and Polly's got her own talking bike! Well, actually she borrowed it from Chelsea. Oh and some kinda trade show happened last week or something? We talk a bit about that too!

Don't you worry, we brought some hot and fresh Sockscast to the pre-summer cookout, and it's a meal that's sure to keep you nice and satisfied! I mean... If you eat gaming podcasts. First up, we're all gonna sit down and play along as John journeys through Ocarina of Time, then Rhete's got aliens and space literally freaking everywhere, and Polly takes a trip to a castle full of illusion!

SOCKSCAST ALERT! SOCKSCAST ALERT! Your favorite sometimes-videogames, sometimes-not-videogames podcast is back and running at fully-operational capacity as we tune in to find that John has a deep and dark secret about all this "reading" they're doing, Rhete gets Triggered by a new Japanese Cartoon that's apparently really up his alley, and Polly plays way too many RPGs!

John kept insisting that this episode be named "The Rhohncast," but Rhete and I would have none of it, and cooler, smarter heads prevailed in this situation. You're all very welcome. This time, we got a Rhete and John only special and it finds John following up his dive into horror games after completing his Amnesia: The Dark Descent playthrough with some SOMA and tossing some Resident Evil on top of it for good measure. Rhete's still not able to get over his Phantasy Star Online 2 kick and he REALLY wants to get Inside you, and we also get a healthy discussion about the recently released flick Get Out.

Another hot bonus episode of the Sockscast for y'all! This time, Polly got a chance to have a chat with one of her favorite Let's Players Ballerscuba for a conversation about Let's Playing, maintaining a consistent update schedule, a whole load of Final Fantasy talk, and what it's like to be a YouTube bajillionaire!

Your faithful, regularly scheduled, nothing at all different Sockscast returns as always and this time we're joined by Sockscast Theme/Her Lullaby composer and host of the Album Listening Club Taylor! In this episode, freakin' EVERYONE'S got a big ol' boner for NieR:Automata, the brand-new Power Rangers movie, and thanks to Taylor's presence, more music talk that's ever appeared before on a Sockscast!

Polly got the chance to sit down with one of her favorite speedrunners and Contra senpai, angrylanks for a fun discussion about speedrunning, drumming, and Polly gets schooled on the for-really-reals uses of the fish-eye lens. Gotta go fast, y'all!

What up, you lovely rays of sunshine? Hope you got them pretty little ears of yours all perked up for another hot batch of Sockscast goodness! This time on the show, Rhete STILL watches all the Japanese Cartoons he can in any given period of time, John's tired of all these damn dams, and Polly is a sexy sword-slinging android, but you already knew that part. Also, there may be a Sega love-fest somewhere in this episode. See if you can find it!

I guess a lot's been goin' down the last few days in the ol' gaming sphere, but you just go ahead and push all that junk right out of your brain and listen to your ol' pals at the Sockscast regale you with uplifting tales of cannibalism, the brutal, yet gleeful murders of your sisters, and what it's like being a bug in a world that's dead. You won't have room in your grey matter for much else!

Polly got a chance to sit down with professional voice actress, fellow David Bowie nerd, and all around Super-Rad Person(tm), Kira Buckland for a nice lengthy chat. Kira takes some time to school Polly on the ins and outs of the current voice acting world as well as share her journey from her start at voice acting in Newgrounds projects all the way up to where she is now. Her's is an awesome and inspiring story and we're happy to be able to share a bit of it with you. You can also catch her as the leading lady 2B in the upcoming western release of Nier: Automata.

Are you ready for the calmest, chillest Sockscast in the history of Sockscast? Welp, BAD NEWS! But don't worry, there's just enough calm in this storm for Rhete to sacrifice all his friends and Neps to alien invasions while John gets himself ready to release ANOTHER game, and Polly to go on an adventure that seems...just a bit familiar.

Hey hey! I told you we'd be back after the first of the year, and we get things started this year with a nice roundtable about Beepner's choice, Red Hot Chili Peppers' surprising and weird 2016 release, The Getaway. Some fun trivia: We were on a time limit for this one. Byron was on the verge of DEATH POOPS happening because he had to take a laxative beforehand. Just figured you'd all wanna know that.
