YouTube, Google, Facebook, Instagram, and the rest of the gd internet is constantly keeping me informed about the pandemic that is only comparable to one that happened over 200 years ago. also I've got me emails from every company I've ever subscribed to telling me that they are closing down or taking extra precautions for this pandemic which is only more revealing to the economic impact that this will have. In this episode I take the approach of Grace helbig and do a stream-of-consciousness podcast episode about some things on the platform that I wanted to talk about but didn't really necessarily warrant its own episode and there are some other tangents, just about life in general, because YouTube is basically real life and real life is basically YouTube. I have been itching for some creators to respark some of the love and joy I used to feel towards the videos on there. With the algorithm being so rigid it seems like the videos that are more robotic in their approach are more easily to be translated by the algorithm. And in turn are able to make a profit. YouTube has changed a lot over the decade but none more so than the Trending page. A very influential page once used to shoutout small creators who used the website. Now it is a platform for the big corporations to utilize in promoting their whatever. Late Night, Sports, Talk Shows, News. Its the same thing day after day. But over this past year, I've noticed YouTube making a change in the trending page to have more variety. But it still makes me skeptical if the trending page that I see if it is the same one you and everyone else sees. And of course, how they even go about finding trending videos is a mystery few will know or understand. In this episode, I talk about some of the moments that were big on YouTube or around the world in 2019. Theses were cultural moments that really shed a light on the pitfalls of humanity. In hindsight, 2019 wasn't that great but this year is going to be rad. Hopefully adult content will start to make a resurgence since YouTube can't advertise to kids anymore. PewDiePie vs. T Series happened this year and Tati Westbrook decided to come for blood and made the cancel culture mob attack James Charles after some misleading accusations about his behavior all of which cultivated into a storm of awful. Shane Dawson and Jeffree Star dropped the "Conspiracy" Pallette and filmed the process. I have been noticing that over the years YouTube is more focused on corporate intrigue rather than individual creators for their platform. though they have made some Publix strides to men this issue it is very clear to see that YouTube's priorities have changed over the years and the creators are no longer the number one priority but rather the advertisers are. And why wouldn't they be YouTube as a company has to make money but I do think it is important to make sure that those who are making your money are treated to the best of their ability. and I've noticed that I can't find individual creators as much as I can find more structured and formulaic content.
