  • I Studied Medicine In Malawi To Become A Fulltime Uber Driver In Cape Town | Ride For Conversations

    26/08/2022 Duración: 10min

You might not share the same sentiments with this guy - it's just another side of the story. So, I visited Cape Town when I met this open-minded and free-spirited gentleman. Initially, he was just meant to be my Uber driver and get me to the airport - but I got to see and learn beyond my expectations. He went from studying medicine in Malawi to being a comfortable Uber driver in Cape Town - South Africa. We spoke about the state of Johannesburg City versus Cape Town City. For me, it's not about finding faults in people's stories, but learning how other people view the world and interpret the things that surround them. Leave your comments - Let's hear what you think about his ideas. • I Took a Retail Job Just To Put Food On The Table

    23/08/2022 Duración: 22min

This isn’t another “Money can’t buy happiness!” conversation. This is a piece about a personal choice Veli Phasha had to make, and some of the reasons he made it. Forgive my bluntness, that's just how I roll (see what I did, w*nk). That is why I will openly tell you that there is hunger in being a creative and that is discouraging enough for you to stop. I hope Veli's story about WHY he never stopped refuels you to unapologetically chase your dreams. Please share your ideas in the comments and let us know what you think about this session. • Programming is a Learnable Skill

    20/09/2020 Duración: 14min

Digital transformation isn't just for Silicon Valley companies or young startups. It's a way of life for any creative expecting to survive in the next decade. Jeff Bezos (the founder of Amazo) said, "in today's era of volatility, there is no other way but to re-invent. The only sustainable advantage you can have over others is agility, that's it. Because nothing else is sustainable, everything else you create, someone else will replicate". Many young people are always complaining about the complexity of life today, and because of this, most end up unmotivated to learn. This is the same mentality that drowns our black communities deeper into the poverty pit. On this session of W.O.R.D podcast, we want to tell you that anything is learnable. Do you still remember when you struggled to write your three-letter name in first grade? Look at you now. Programming is no different. Not only is a relevant skill to have, but it is a learnable skill too. Sbonelo Mkhize shares his inspiring journey as a self-taught progra

  • It's Youth Month - W.O.R.D turns 1 | Lockdown Party

    06/06/2020 Duración: 14min

Gratitude is everything. One year ago, this podcast was born. We had nothing at that time. No equipment, no funding and absolutely no presenting experience. We took everything and put it in God's hands. I could say, we did what we needed to do. People spoke and we listened. This session goes to everyone who watched us grow and all the other people we met later. You all matter. Carry that with you. Let your friends know that as young people, we are great, capable and destined to make magic in this world. Together we have what it takes to fill each other's voids and be awesome. Listen to this lovely session  with young and driven individuals. Uviwe, Lemogang, Londekile, Tinyiko, Tshepi, Masentle The BA, Tay'though, Carloman. 19/04/2020 Duración: 09min

The only exercise most of us have been up to since the lockdown is running out of money. This regressive exercise has had several people growing more anxious. Staying locked in our homes has demonstrated an inevitable impact on our mental health. Mental health is not a white thing. In this session, I share one of the few ways writers can make money from the comfort of their homes. It is no joke that the 4IR is upon us. Therefore, we must learn how to use our skills to reach the light at the end of this excruciatingly dark tunnel. Don't forget to comment, rate, share and subscribe to our podcast.
