This week on Select, we welcome Palestinian jazzist and vinyl maverick, Felonious Funk. Her penchant for crate-digging has taken her to various record stores from Brooklyn to Mexico City, Paris and Dubai, accumulating over 1000 vinyls. For the 354th episode of Select, she spins a fully analog mix, weaving funky, jazzy and synth-heavy house cuts of both classic and new jams. The set kicks off with a sweltering synthwork with the unmistakable energy of Djoko, and closes with a soulful sample from the Jazz legend Marvin Gaye with a T.Markakis twist.

This week’s Select mix comes courtesy of a man who has gained a following for his unique grime, UK dubstep and experimental hip-hop influences. When he’s not wearing his DJ/producer hat, Palestine native Sami is the brain behind the Dasam party series, though he curates events that spotlight emerging, forward-thinking talents from both the local and international underground electronic scene. For Select 353, he brings us an unpredictable club mix of his sound, moving through grime, left-field bass and experimental trap, while making space for some of his own productions, such as ‘Sarmadi’ and ‘Mat3’anish’.

Hailing from Morocco, DJ and co-founder of Frangements collective Rikku has developed a niche mixing style, drawing influences from oriental classics, rock and metal, as well as disco, pop, old-school rap and R&B. In his takeover on our Select series this week, he brings us an exclusive mix of minimal, electro and house, packed with feel-good vibes and an eclectic selection of tunes, such as ‘1981’ by Deadmau5, ‘Try Again’ by Pierre Marty, ‘Love Lesson’ by HearThug, and ‘High Heavens’ by Big Miz. Curating our mix this week is Paris-born Big Dope P, currently one of Europe’s most exciting DJs and producers, known for his signature blend of electro funk, bass/club, ghetto house and rap. He has previously shared the decks with some of the world’s biggest names in dance and rap music, including Basement Jaxx, Kaytranada, Pusha T, Maya Jane Coles, Lil Wayne, and Todd Edwards, just to name a few. At the age of 16, Big Dope P co-founded Moveltraxx imprint, one of the most influential labels in dance music, promoting footwork, ghetto house and jersey club since 2007. The label features releases from major electronic mavericks like Paul Johnson and DJ Tameil. Big Dope P’s discography features releases on global labels such as Fool’s Gold, Ed Banger, LuckyMe, Nervous, Ninja Tune, OWSLA and Local Action. For Select 351, Big Dope P brings us a bass-driven mix of footwork, Chicago ghetto house, ‘80 funk and classic hip-hop tunes from across the UK and US, featuring his original productions such as ‘On Da Flo’.

In this episode of SceneNoise’s mix series, Select, we have Cherry Lee, a staple in LA’s DIY electronic landscape and the creative force behind the underground event series Club Cherie. She is also a resident of Pegasus ,and a producer and resident of Incalls Only. Cherry’s sets are often unplanned, inherently spontaneous and unpredictable, presenting a dance-centric melting pot of multi-cultural sounds, global influences and irresistible grooves all wrapped in high BPMs. Her Select mix initially starts off as a casual afternoon jam, then swiftly turns into an purely unadulterated trip through house, techno and dubstep, packed with eclectic cuts like ‘Save the Children’ (Detroit Mix) by Floorplan and Robert Hood, and ‘Don’t Diss the 909’ by Rory Marshall, as well as some of her signature edits.

Hailing from London, Kizzi is currently one of the most exciting talents in the global electronic scene, known for her distinctive blend techno, club funk and house, often imbued with her own South Asian spice. Her sets have lit up prestigious stages at major international festivals and venues like All Points East, Fabric, and Toronto’s Drake Underground. She also holds residencies at Ministry of Sound and XOYO Birmingham, and hosts a weekly show on BBC Asian network. Kizzi takes over this week’s episode of our Select series with her signature spice, curating a mix that bounces through house, dancehall, amapiano, jersey, and drum & bass with fresh, groove-laden Asian and Arabic cuts. In this new instalment of SceneNoise’s Select series, we have German-Egyptian DJ Mirshak. His sets often draw on influences from the German house music scene, blurring the boundaries of genre into groove-laden mixes. He has also shared the decks with a slew of global electronic heavyweights, including Laurent Garnier and Ellen Allien. For our Select 348, Mirshak brings us a mix of his favourite flavours of house music, packed with deep club cuts and floor-fillers with a focus on smooth transitions and EQ-driven mixing techniques that keep the sound raw with minimal to no effects. This week on Select, we hand it over to Beirut-based DJ, producer, and label head Looswing, whose mix delivers an hour of groove-heavy, deep house cuts that speak to a lifelong love for digging and a deep connection to the genre’s roots. Born Elio Abdo, Looswing's style reflects his musical upbringing at the cultural intersection of Beirut and his spiritual ties to Detroit and Chicago’s house legacies. With influences ranging from Theo Parrish and Boo Williams to Ras G and Nick Holder, his sets are grounded in classic underground energy, loop-driven, percussive, and always on a swing. A co-founder of Paille Records and the edits-based collective Enfants Du Swing, Looswing brings both curation and experimentation to the forefront. This mix, recorded between Beirut and Riyadh, leans into rolling basslines and carefully chopped samples - true to his name, you’ll hear swinging hats from start to finish. This week on SceneNoise’s select series, Matthew Benjamin, AKA Bushwacka! - one of the pioneers of the global electronic scene - will be taking over with a very special set. Bushwacka! was at the birth of the acid house era and sowed the seeds of the first wave of tech-house in the UK in the 90s. Initially a percussionist in the London School Symphony Orchestra, Bushwacka! became a member of the Rat Pack after a warehouse party in 1988. Bushwacka! was also part of one of the world’s most enduring DJ/producer duos with Layo. His career spans over three decades, during which he launched his legendary party series Shake It, which billed some of the biggest electronic acts on the scene like Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Laurent Garnier and more. He also held several international club residencies, including Pikes and Amnesia in Ibiza, and did a handful of shows across the globe. This Saturday on our Select series, we have a special set from Zdat, a Cairo native DJ and the co-founder of techno party series Veldt. With a penchant for digging up unconventional sounds and taking cues from the underground scene in London and New York, Zdat blends hard techno, dance and ghetto-techno with industrial percussion and broken rhythms. On our Select 343, Zdat stitches together an unpredictable set that moves through several shades of techno, pulling tracks from Flor2k, SHFTR, and Panteros666.

Taking over our Select 342 this week is A.M.I.R.A, hailing from Casablanca, Morocco. She is known for exploring a variety of techno sub-genres, weaving groovy and hypnotic beats into her sets, which she also showcases in her new podcast series Return to Groove. Her Select set is a techno mix driven by deep basslines and featuring rhythmic claps, crisp drum patterns and hypnotic vocal loops, over minimal melodies. The set features tracks like ‘Seeds of Distrust’ by Chlär, and ‘Oddbox’ by A.Morgan, and ‘Speed Dial’ by Corium.

This week’s Select mix comes straight from a high-voltage night where MSIYAN played alongside I Hate Models, an evening that carved itself into the memory of everyone in the room. Born Mahsa Asiyan, the Iranian DJ and producer has become known for her euphoric yet tightly controlled sound, navigating fast techno and trance with a groove-heavy sensibility that hits the chest before it hits the floor. MSIYAN's mix is a peak-time trip that wastes no time. Clocking in with high BPMs and emotionally charged transitions, this live set delivers the kind of energy that floods your bloodstream. This Saturday, BENN - a Taipei-based producer, DJ and founder of Over My Body dance label - is taking over our Select series with a one-hour mix of his recent productions and current favourites, blending Asian influences with sharp broken beats. The set features tunes like ‘Shiny Surgery’ by Cortical and ‘Veil of Dusk’ by Yes Reven. BENN has been igniting dancefloors across several continents with his symbolic, explosive energy and avant-garde club productions. Over the past few years, BENN released several EPs and participated in many compilations from different labels worldwide, each showcasing an evolution of his technique, from synesthesia’s tribal futurism to the organic natural pulses of Entheos.

For our latest Select, we have Lebanese vinyl maverick, NeighborsByMusic. Her penchant for discovering new sounds has led her to build an extensive repertoire over the years, blending diverse music styles from different cultures. Her sets often incorporate influences from oriental, Brazilian funk, hip-hop and jazz. NeighborsByMusic treats us to a special vinyl-only set–initially recorded at JIVE in Beirut–that meshes together threads of Brazilian bossa nova, funk, and Arabic oldies from Simone and Hamid El Shaeri with 90s hip-hop and a hint of jazzy house here and there. The colossal proportions of the set, fitting together a multitude of different sounds, are somewhat reflective of the organised chaos that Lebanon is known for. Featuring a thoughtfully curated selection of feel-good tunes, such as Ezra Collective’s ‘Palm Wine’, Mtume’s ‘Juicy Fruit’, and Simone’s ‘Mabsouta’, the set ends abruptly, as if alluding to a typical electricity cut at midnight in Beirut.
