Literary Bent

Since the Eagles aren't prepared to fly our heroes to their ultimate destination, Gandalf has to arrange other assistance for them. And, surprise, he's planning on leaving them at the doorstep of the Mirkwood. Not very nice, Gandalf.

They got out of the Misty Mountains, but our heroes haven't escaped danger yet. We find them chased up trees by gigantic wolves. Will they get animal allies of their own?

Bilbo awakes in the dark, all alone for the first time since he left Bag End. With no dwarves and no wizard about, where will Bilbo find the resources he needs to survive?

Bilbo and the dwarves leave Rivendell and head for the Misty Mountains, but what awaits them? And is that Tolkien's World War I experience we see slipping in?

Sharat and Leben have a long discussion on a short chapter. Are the dwarves just unable to take a joke or is it the elves' fault for taking the beard joke too far? They also theorize about how the elf CIA might have asked Bilbo to alter the account of his stay in Rivendell.

Bilbo and Co. go out on a nice walk in the countryside. All is going well, until they meet some nasty characters on the road.

This week we watch as 13 dwarves and a wizard invade a poor little hobbit's life, upending his comfortable middle-class existence forever.
