Screenwriting guru and And Then What? podcast host Becky Brynolf (@rabbitinahat) joins Nathanael to talk Stranger Things Season 2, recommend some scary movies for Halloween and, with Thor: Ragnarok in cinemas and Boy out to buy and rent on VOD (as well as on Film4 this Friday), look back at Taika Waititi’s Hunt for the Wilderpeople on Netflix.

In Episode 8, freelance journalist Stephen Carty joins Nathanael Smith to review David Fincher's Mindhunter, Netflix's disturbing new serial killer series. We also stake out a hidden horror gem on Netflix in time for Halloween, and, with Armando Iannucci's The Death of Stalin in cinemas, look back at two modern political classics: In the Loop and Four Lion, both on Amazon Prime Video.

The VOD Pod heads to the BFI London Film Festival to check out some of the latest films from Netflix and Amazon, including Mudbound, The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected), 6 Days and Last Flag Flying. We also discuss other highlights from this year's festival, such as Brawl in Cell Block 99 - out in cinemas and on VOD from Friday 20th October. (Warning: Contains background cafe noises.)

A spoiler-free discussion explains where Discovery fits in the Star Trek universe, before a spoiler-filled chat boldly explores Episode 3 and beyond. We also unearth a social media horror you probably haven't seen, and recommend films to watch before or after Blade Runner 2049, now in cinemas.

Gossip Girl turned 10 years old this autumn - no, we can't believe it either. To celebrate its anniversary, The VOD Pod has been taken over by Gossip Girl gurus Jo Bromilow and Limara Salt, who try to explain to our clueless host Nathanael Smith why he should watch the show. In Episode 5, AI expert and connoisseur of bad movies Craig Innes joins Nathanael Smith to talk Amazon's first superhero, The Tick, discuss films to watch after Detroit, and unearth a truly bad hidden gem on Amazon Prime Video. Horror guru Anton Bitel, meanwhile, pops in for a report from this year's FrightFest, which opened with Netflix's Death Note and premiered a whole host of terrifying new acquisitions for subscription service Shudder.

In Episode 4, comic book guy Amon Warmann joins Nathanael Smith to talk Netflix's The Defenders, the crossover event series between Marvel's Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist. Can it rival the big screen's Avengers? They also look back at a forgotten early comic book movie and recommend two films to watch after Amazon's The Big Sick (currently in UK cinemas).
