In this sermon, I invite you to explore what it means to live a life of love shaped by God’s shalom—a deep, restoring peace that brings wholeness.As we look at Jesus’ ministry, especially his willingness to stop and heal the suffering woman in Mark 5, we see that God’s love moves toward brokenness. Jesus was never too busy to notice someone in need.My hope is that we, too, would be spiritually interruptible: ready to see, care for, and walk alongside people who are hurting, overlooked, or marginalized. I mean the kind of refreshment that reaches into the deepest parts of you and brings relief, renewal, and peace. God knows we need that kind of refreshment. And the good news is this: Jesus is the chief refresher. In Matthew 11.28-30, Jesus says:“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”The word translated “rest” is the Greek word anapauō. It means to bring rest, relief, or renewal after a time of pressure. It’s the same word Paul uses in Philemon when he speaks about being refreshed

“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.” Vicki Corona Last week we talked about humility — looking at Moses in Numbers 12, “the most humble man on earth.”  We saw that humility isn’t about thinking less of yourself, but seeing God as great, and trusting him instead of taking control.   In the weeks to come we will explore timelessness, playfulness and having a not-knowing stance. Today, we focus on a readiness toward awe and wonder.

“Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth.” Numbers 12.3 But that statement doesn’t come during his triumphs. It comes during one of the most painful moments of his life — when those closest to him turned against him. Today, we’ll step into Numbers chapter 12 and see what humility really looks like in the fire of misunderstanding. Loving one another from the heart naturally leads us to pray for one another with joy—and that kind of prayer produces the fruit of spiritual maturity. In this sermon from Philippians 1:1–11, we explore how Paul’s joyful prayers for the Philippians flowed from their shared life in the gospel and how his purpose-driven prayers called them to deeper love, knowledge, and discernment. Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me. “If any of you put a stumbling block before one of these little ones who believe in me, it would be better for you if a great millstone were fastened around your neck and you were drowned in the depth of the sea. Woe to the world because of stumbling blocks! Occasions for stumbling are bound to come, but woe to the one by whom the stumbling block comes! “If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away; it is better for you to enter life maimed or lame than to have two hands or two feet and to be thrown into the eternal fire. And if your eye causes you to stumble, tear it o
