More about the winery:  The Piras were an ancient family of winemakers, mentioned in parish registers since the 17th century, who also became winemakers between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. Gigi Pira, legendary exponent of the old school of production, created his wines by assembling grapes from his own plots of Cannubi, San Lorenzo and Via Nuova. He maintained that, just as cows must graze on the best pastures to produce excellent milk, only the best vineyards must be chosen for wine. But Pira's attachment to tradition did not stop there: he was in fact the last remaining winemaker
