A self-described “New-Yorican” who grew up on Manhattan’s lower east side, Eden found her calling at the ripe old age of twelve, falling in love with films like "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" and "Jurassic Park" eventually finding a nurturing place in an after-school program mentored by local filmmakers and educators. Today, Eden is a visual story-teller creating productions for leading commercial and non-profit clients and is rapidly branching out into non-fiction, dramatic and comedy narrative projects for film and television. Minnesota native now based in New York, Sinjun Strom is a photographer and visual artist who doesn’t just take portraits -- she makes them. Her ideas take root in detailed journals she keeps, mapping out possible subjects and sets for her elaborately produced images having her hands on on almost every aspect of her photographs. From the clothes to the sets, she even hand-crafts wallpaper backgrounds and props creating an almost cinematic style. She recently finished at the School of Visual Arts in New York, exclusively learning film formats from 35mm to large format view cameras. For Asif Rashid Khan, his love affair with photography began at age 14 when his father handed him a 35mm film camera. He never stopped photographing. Even taking a detour to get a degree and work in finance didn’t sway him from realizing his dream to make a career in photography happen. He eventually took the plunge to work full time as a photographer. He’s now a partner in a multi-national visual production studio. Today’s guest is Regina Fleming, a former fashion model who found her way into shooting by attending the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in Manhattan which led to assisting NY-based portrait photographer Joyce Tennyson which in turn led to an association with iconic photographer/filmmaker Gordon Parks. She eventually moved into kicking off her 20-year plus career shooting weddings and traveling to cover occasions in exotic locales around the world. Today Andrew French, established New York City based portrait, fashion and figure photographer makes an impassioned case for film! Andy landed in New York in the 1980s – the era of Mapplethorpe, Haring & The Talking Heads. Andy was just one of a flock of aspiring photographers who made their way to the city, began assisting to launch their career. He eventually ended up working closely with many renowned shooters like Mary Ellen Mark, Ruth Orkin and Abe Fraundlich. Nowadays he does assignments for top international publications mentors students and is a devoted advocate for natural light. We're excited to be in New York this week for Full Exposure at the Photo Plus Expo. For episode 4 we're joined by Rock 'N' Roll photographer, Greg Watermann. Greg has traveled the world, first as a photo assistant then concert photographer and documentarian and is personal photographer to Pitbull and System of a Down. We spoke with Greg right before he gave his master class in rock photography in lower Manhattan.
