If salvation is not about what a person does, what is this reward that is mentioned in verse 27? How does this text challenge you today?

Paul was in prison while he wrote Philippians. How does that change the context of what he wrote? Is pain always a bad thing? How can it be a good thing? How do you communicate with God when He doesn’t “feel” present?

What does this narrative reveal about Jesus’ character, even as a child? What did Jesus understand and His parents not understand? Why did Luke include this episode of Jesus life? If we are to be Christ-like, what does this narrative nudge us towards?

Out of the areas of suffering, perseverance, character and hope, where is God working in your life right now? What did Jesus do for us when He died and rose again? How do verses 6-8 impact you? How do they encourage you? Challenge you? How much of God’s peace and hope need to begin with a feeling and how much must begin with head knowledge and conscious claiming of peace and hope?

Take It Deeper Questions Read 1 Thessalonians 5:12-28 What type of personal growth is easiest and most difficult for you to identify: physical, emotional or Spiritual? Why? What happens when you recognize people that are trying to make you better? What happens when you ignore or resent people that are trying to make you better? What happens when you strive to do what is good for others and for everyone? What happens when you focus solely on doing what is good for you? What happens when you pray, worship and are thankful always? What happens when you never pray, never worship and never are thankful? What happens when you are working towards being blameless? What happens when you don’t care about trying to be Christ-like? How do Paul’s words give you focus today?

Take it Deeper Questions Read Acts 3:1-10 Which is more devastating; to be sick or to be without money? Why? As a crippled man in Peter’s day, what would he write in his diary on a typical day? What do you think he would write about this day? Would you do the same thing Peter did, or would you ask John if he had a dime? What was going on inside of Peter? How are you challenged by Peter’s faith? If you were more like Peter in this moment, how would it impact how you connect and relate with the people around you?

Take It Deeper Questions: Read Mark 9:14-32 When you were a child, what issues were most likely to trigger an argument within your family? Whom do you most identify with, afflicted boy, concerned father, observing crowd, struggling disciples or the criticising Pharisees? How is it possible to believe and not believe at the same time? When have you felt like the father? I believe, help me with my unbelief? What doubts are recurring in your life? What faith realities are you confident in? What happens in you when God answers your prayer. “I believe, help me with my unbelief.

Take It Deeper Questions Read Acts 16:16-34 What public spectacles have you experienced that made you feel uncomfortable? The did financial cost affect the girl’s owners acceptance of the Gospel? What financial concerns keep some people from faith today? What was Paul and Silas’ attitude in prison? How did they get that attitude? What is your go to attitude when doing things for God doesn’t work out well? How are you challenged by Paul and Silas’ experience? How can you move from being challenged to being changed?

Take It Deeper Questions: Read Mark 10:13-22 What situations or scenarios do you find yourself the least patient? Why would the disciples want to keep the children away from Jesus? What childlike qualities was Jesus encouraging? Why do you think Mark shares the story of the rich young man here? How was the rich young man NOT like a child? How do these two narratives challenge you and focus you in the growth of your faith?
