Good Morning and Good Coffee!  Hi Everyone, today I'm talking about the fourth foundation of a successful marital relationship: forgiveness.  How often do you take out the trash at your house?  Daily?  Whenever it gets full?  Would you take my challenge of not emptying the kitchen trashcan for 3 full weeks???  No?  Find out what trashcans have to do with today's topic on marriage! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/larry-quicksall/message

  • Episode 23 - Love - 2/27/2019

    27/02/2019 Duración: 22min

Good Morning and Good Coffee!  Today we continue with our series on marriage and the third element of the Five Foundations of a Successful Marital Relationship, which is LOVE.  Love is often a problematic word in our language because we say we love "everything", but marital love is comprehensive and definitely more than just a feeling.  I mention about viewing it as a math formula: Mental Commitment + Emotional Intimacy + Physical Passion = Comprehensive Marital Love.  I also reference Robert J. Sternberg and what he calls the Triangular Theory of Love.  More information can be found on this at the following links.   http://www.robertjsternberg.com/love https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triangular_theory_of_love https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4a0FnoNU68g --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/larry-quicksall/message

Good Morning Everyone!  Today's continuing series on marriage takes a look at the topic of Respect as one of the Five Foundations of a Successful Marital Relationship.  In addition, I share some heartfelt memories of a great man who knew how to entertain an audience from the theater stage: Steve Rasmussen.  I enjoyed seeing him act and will miss him on the stage of the Riverfront Playhouse.  I promised some links to check out about Steve.   www.facebook.com/RiverfrontPlayhouse Heaven is Hell (a dark comedy) - Starting at Steve's scene --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/larry-quicksall/message

    21/02/2019 Duración: 19min

Good Morning and Good Coffee Everyone!  This morning I stumbled across the topic of ASMR in another podcast I was listening to.  My daughter Jessica first shared this term with me, and so after hearing it again I did some quick-and-dirty research and found an interesting video that shows people who make videos involving tactile actions and soothing sounds for relaxation and pleasing physical sensations.  You can watch the video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxjfyBEIl7Q.  However, this is actually not new, but is something quite old.  It has just been rediscovered in our crazy, hussle-bussle, unhealthy, fast-paced life. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/larry-quicksall/message

  • Episode 12 - Through a Puppy's Eyes

    10/02/2019 Duración: 13min

Good Morning and Good Coffee and Good Tea.... Actually, Lipton Raspberry Green Tea.... It's great on a wintery morning!  Today we are having some bad weather including sleet and freezing rain, so we have hunkered down in the house.  However, we have a new puppy who needs to go outside pretty frequently, which led me to pause for a moment and see how he is reacting the another day of totally new and amazing experiences.  Wow, to have "puppy eyes" or "childlike amazement" at all that is around me.  Well, maybe we still can have that amazement if we are willing to see that it is there every day. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/larry-quicksall/message

  • Episode 11 - Pole Barns and Character Traits

    09/02/2019 Duración: 14min

Good Morning and Good Coffee!  Hi Everyone.  Today I'm recording from the middle of the framework of our new pole barn that is being built.  You know, if you want to have a pole barn last for 50-100 years then you need to make sure the foundation and structure is solid, true and well connected.  And it is that way in life when it comes to our decisions and behavioral patterns.  Are we making decisions based on our emotions or character traits? Do our foundation posts go deep into the ground, or are we simply held to the ground by stakes that can easily be removed.  In my podcast I reference the 12 Points of the Boy Scout Law, which is listed below: A Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, Reverent. I'm also including an article I just found on Google.  It is a short and fascinating read about when the Boy Scouts named a scout camp after John Wayne in 1979, just a few months before his death.  John Wa

    08/02/2019 Duración: 10min

  • Episode 9 - Will Power

    07/02/2019 Duración: 12min

  • Episode 8 - Cutting Ruts

    04/02/2019 Duración: 10min

Good Morning Everyone!  My how the weather changes from -38 degree windchill on Wednesday to Sunday (yesterday) it hit 70 degrees!  And with the rising temperatures comes the "big thaw".  Walking through the soupy barn lot areas and having to kick it in 4-wheel drive and cut ruts through the sod to get around construction vehicles made me stop and think about ruts.  Ruts through soft ground can sure make a mess of things, but once things dry out later this year I can fix them up again.  The same is true when we cut ruts in relationships...they need to be fixed as well. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/larry-quicksall/message
