Nerd Lunch: The Third 100

In celebration of the 30th Anniversary of Star Trek: The Next Generation, the Nerd Lunchers welcome new Fourth Chair guest Zaki Hasan and the four of them do a pseudo-drill down on the series. There's a lot to cover and only so much time to do it. And we also got caught in a time loop while recording, but that's neither here nor there.

Back from summer hiatus, the Nerd Lunch crew is joined by Rondal from Strange Kids Club to pitch a reboot of the road race movie Cannonball Run. All of us take turns pitching celebrity teams and talk about who we think would win.

We valiantly tried to complete a quartet of reunions, but alas, there was one that was impossibly elusive—the Under Scoop Fire podcast. Someday we'll have to tell the story of scheduling woes, but that's another podcast. Instead, we present this pseudo-rerun. Back in November of 2015, the USF cast appeared on Nerd Lunch as a part of a crossover. And Nerd Lunch appeared on USF, too. For the first time in this feed, here is episode 147 of the Under Scoop Fire podcast with guests, the Nerd Lunch cast.

Kirk Howle, Matt Ringler and Doug Frye from the late, great Schlock Treatment podcast take over Nerd Lunch with their version of a Nerd Lunchish topic. With D23 in our recent history and our guest being Liz from NerdintheCity.com (who happens to be a big Disney fan) we decided to focus on Disney movies for this episode. The nerds just scratch the surface of some all time favorite movie and TV friendships and then choose best friends for some iconic loner characters. From Stephen Root to wizarding conspiracy theories to Orko, this episode definitely goes to some weird places. Returning to the show after an over 100 episode hiatus is the character of Ned. N. Lurch. Ned is trying to break into "the biz" but his rich stepdad doesn't want him to. So he's hired a panel of experts whose job it is to help Ned think he's coming up with great ideas for a comic, but in actuality, they're trying to lead him astray. Returning guests Dubba and Charlton Hero join the nerds this week for the first ever Nerd Lunch Sweet Sixteen. The mission this time is to crown the king of all cartoon dogs. Jeeg and Pax welcome John Vanover back to the show for another screening of Kung Fu Theater. This time the nerds tackle a long overdue discussion of the legendary Jackie Chan centered on the first of the Three Dragons movies, Project A. Co-starring Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao, it features plenty of action, a healthy dose of comedy, an almost satisfactory amount of pirates, and one of Jackie's most epic stunts.
