3inshams is a DJ & founder of Ego Records, a Saudi-based record label created in 2022, which aims to highlight the different sounds from around the world to the underground scene of Saudi Arabia by hosting music events and delivering a unique experience to the audience. 3inshams is one of the first DJs from Saudi Arabia to shake the room with music genres such as Amapiano and Afro music, helping to introduce new and unique international soundwaves. We hear these musical genres across his hour-long set, which includes tracks like Myztro ‘Everyday iParty Waya Waya (ft. Drp Peppa)’, Jou Nana’s ‘Unlimited Soul’, and ‘43 Drums (Salutation To 2wobunnies x Major League Djz)’ by DrummeRTee924, and more.

Egyptian lawyer by day and DJ by night, Malak Basha aka MLK, presents a dynamic, high-energy set made to move the dance floor. Based in Amsterdam, MLK is heavily immersed in electronic music, which she seeks as a form of therapy, energy release, and a way to genuinely connect with people. MLK gravitates towards high energy music that shakes the dance floor and gets everyone out of their bodies. She has a penchant for heavy bass and groovy beats, which ultimately guided her track selection in this set. In her hour-long mix, she combines hard techno, speedy bps and dancey trance to create a pure rave atmosphere. MLK’s hour-long set cuts across a diverse mix of tunes ranging from hard techno, trance, acid and hard dance. Her track selection is mostly underground artists and producers including Matrak, Sopik, Mirzika and more.

Shiha is a Cairo-based, multidisciplinary artist, DJ, and producer that has been impacting and helping to progress the music scene for years. With a career spanning 20 years, Shiha’s distinctive sound is driven by house to deep house; minimal, tech and breaks, leading him to perform at many impressive events alongside musical legends such as Sebastien Leger, Manno le Tough, Eelke Kleijn and more. With previous releases on labels such as Manual Records, Capital Heaven, Frisky Records, Movement Recordings, Inkfish, Magik Muzik, Black Hole Recordings, and Nueva to name just a few, you can certainly hear the explosive energy that Shiha’s foundations are laid upon. Meanwhile, 2021 saw the launch of Shiha’s very own imprint label Clubbing Purposes, this will be the platform for most of Shiha’s future releases. Shiha’s selection features artists like Magnus Larsson, DIMMISH, Icarus, Loquace and Shiha’s own productions, mixed together in this action packed dance floor set.

Talaia is a Cairo-based architect, designer, creative director, and co-founder of Downtempo Cairo platform. But he’s also a wicked DJ. Within the first ten minutes of Talaia’s set, you will be moved to jump on your feet. This is a dirty dancefloor set, with a rapid onset, heavy hitting basslines, future techno alongside melodic keys in Staniz’ ‘Venezia’ and stunning downtempo breakdowns that build up again into layers of rhythms in tracks like ‘First Dance’ by Eden Burns and later, the razor sharp high hats heard in 'Feel That Way' by SIT.

Jana is an Egyptian music producer, guitarist, and DJ with an extensive musical background. She often implements inspirations from drum n bass, breakbeat, hip-hop and underground Egyptian music in her live sets, bridging the gap between Western beats and Oriental sound experimentation. This hour-long set kicks off with one of her original productions, ‘Makulma 001’, mixed alongside a banger of a set, including tracks like ‘Ectoplastic’ by Reptant, and later, Herman’s ‘Solidarity Breaks’, and more.

Hashem El Saifi is a Cairo-based singer-songwriter, producer, and DJ who released his first solo, indie rock EP, ‘Other Clone’ in 2017 followed by the 2021 release of his synth-pop-rock EP, ‘Kolena Benmel Fe Youm’ in 2021. As one of few rock DJs, Hashem found a niche early on his DJ career and has since ventured into merging the sounds of rock, disco, synths and electro to create sets that offer a truly dynamic sonic journey. In this hour-long, downtempo and eclectic set, Hashem’s selections take us on a trip through time, Arabic disco classics like Al Masriyeen’s ‘Mafatshi Leh’, to contemporary R&B like Lella Fadda’s ‘Ghareeba’ to electronica by Ghost Valley with ‘Invisible Temple,’ and more.

Malak Hossam, aka Malalaalaa is an Egyptian DJ, promoter and co-founder of Fractal Cairo — one of her city’s most elusive underground raves. Her latest work was on the women-led Unfamiliar party series as an organiser-turned-performer. In Malalaalaaa’s one-hour set, inspired by her recent gig at Unfamilar on 13/01/; she wavers between chopped R&B to bassy dancehall incensed with deconstructed techno. Malalaalaaa’s music brings together tracks like ‘Sensei’ by Karen NyameKG, and ‘Xupetilson’ by Tia Maria Produções, Stephen Laverty’s ‘Music Maker (Dub Mix), and more.

Saudi-based, Lebanese producer, DJ, and music industry professional NarkBeat has been a pioneer in establishing the dance music scene in Riyadh since 2009. As a co-founder of the event brand Narratives, NarkBeat has also given a platform to many DJs active in the regional electronic scene. In this hour-long set, you will find NarkBeat’s signature sound that’s often described as “deep, emotional, and intense, rusty and sexy. From dark to light this man knows how to balance his music and mix a story with grooves, melodies and emotions. Taking the crowd and enjoying with them, traveling to a world out of this world.” Since 2011, NarkBeat has released a range of singles and EPs, with a massive discography on Beatport.

Motion, is an Egyptian DJ based in Dubai who plays genres that range from psychedelic, hypnotic sounds that put the audience in a euphoric mood while making sure to maintain heavy and rattling basslines to keep the groove going. In this hour-long set you’ll find everything from bass, dub, drum & bass, jungle, breaks and techno to house, downtempo and other genres that keep the crowd engaged.

For this week’s edition of Select, Egyptian DJ, Ram Rashed mixes an hour-long, genre-bending set driven by eclectic house tracks, breakbeats, and silky smooth grooves. Inside the hour-long set you will find tracks like ‘Sexy Black Timberlake’ by Channel Tres, ‘Who Loves You’ by Romare, ‘Aquí’ by Nand and Ceyolia, and bangers like ‘Only You’ by Steve Monite, remixed by Frankie Francis. Ram is a 24-year-old Egyptian artist who’s been spinning since 2018. Kicking off his musical journey, Ram had his DJ debut in the event titled, ‘Dawash’ with the indie label, SOUNDOFNOIZE, followed by another gig with PRISM.

Egyptian selector Ahmed Salem aka Amado presents an energetic mix that combines house, minimal and deep tech, perfect for a weekend rager. Inside the hour-long set, you will find tracks like Eddy M’s, ‘Self Control, ANTOR & Sebastian Kamae’s ‘Time to Smoke’, along with some vinyl gems like Aladdin!’s ‘A2 Shhh’, and ‘Whispering’ by KAIR.

Inspired by the Saudi underground, Riyadh native Solskin's sound is a dab of funk and a dose of sunshine served without even a shade of an apology. The DJ knows how to capture the audience’s attention and engage them on a sonic journey with her deep and groovy house and disco tunes. So far Solskin has been developing herself as a household name within the burgeoning Saudi scene, performing at XP Music Futures, Soundstorm, Noor Riyadh Lights Festival, Diriyah Biennale, Riyadh Marathon, Fete de la Musique, Ibiza Global Radio Festival and most recently Azimuth. Solskin takes us across her music arsenal, offering an hourly set of her precisely curated house, disco, deep, and minimal tunes from the likes of (to be sent).

Cairo’s electronic heavyweights STZ and DOU for yet another Select, turning into a tradition at this point. The duo are widely known among the partying community, with their immaculate house and disco selections which never fails to light up the crowd. For this hourly Select, the duo makes use of tracks from Toscana, Dirty Disco Stars, Mark Lower and more.

We received an anonymous Select from a selector called Chewie. Not much else to say except the force is definitely strong with this one. One hour of mad house selections, but not what you would typically expect from that genre.

Kicking off his mixing journey nearly five months ago, Karim Helal saw many rejuvenations to his sonic direction, commencing things with melodic and tech-house (like nearly everyone who starts) but then shifted his efforts into digging for industrial techno tunes. Later on, he found a certain fondness for the broken percussion of drum n’ bass. For this Select episode, Helal cooks up a special DnB, heavy bass, and jungle for an hourly mix, which features Ozoh, the legendary Ed Rush, Audiomission, Cramz, and more.

Omar Ezzo, also known as O.Ezzo (Mama Africa Speaks), is a Cairo-based DJ who’s well known for his distinctive Afronic flavours and his immaculate vibes with the crowd. He was also rated as one of the top 10 DJs at CNL Music last year as well as a top ranking in the second season of Hey DJ competition at Cairo Jazz Club. O.Ezzo has jammed alongside a latitude of international acts with the likes of Boris Brejcha, Magdalena, Giorgia Anguili, Sebastian Leger, Adana Twins many more as you can check gigs catalogue through his highlights on Instagram. For the 158th episode of Select, O.Ezzo offers a special mix of his immaculately curated afro-house and tech-house tunes from the likes of Sebjak, Themba, Kovi and Damian Lazarus.

Although Cairo-based DJ/producer Adam began mixing back in 2018, he used to produce and play the violin from the tender age of three, thus giving him a right proper musical upbringing. Fast forward to the current day, and Adam’s musical passion continues to drive him in his sets and performances. Adam is inspired by the underground minimal scene including the likes of Desimana, No Name, Sakanat, and Yellow Tape, which led him to mainly play around with rominimal, minimal house, and micro house selections, with a darker side of electro and, sometimes, hard techno. For the 157th episode of Select, Adam opts for an hourly mix of his finely curated minimal tunes from the likes of Casey Spillman, Ricardo Villalobos, East Ends Dubs, and Vitess.
