Secure in God's Choice (10)
01/07/2026Derek finishes this study by bringing out that these works God has done in us are in the past tense. They have been done; we just need to grasp that and live in them through faith. This is heavenly reality. God made us alive together with Christ and seated us with Him in heavenly places. Through His ascension we are glorified—we are in the glory of heaven with Him.

Secure in God's Choice (9)
01/07/2026What does it mean to be justified? Derek says to be justified means I’m “just-as-if-I’d never sinned.” God’s own righteousness has been reckoned to me as a gift. And this comes on the basis of my faith in what Christ accomplished through the cross and through His resurrection. No guilt, no shame, no punishment.

Secure in God's Choice (8)
01/07/2026Derek describes this next stage as salvation from sin—from its guilt, its condemnation, its power, and its defilement. Salvation is a work of the Holy Spirit described by three successive phases: a washing or cleansing, a regeneration or a rebirth, and a renewal or a new creation. You must believe in your heart God raised Jesus from the dead, and you must confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord.

Secure in God's Choice (7)
01/07/2026Today Derek moves this study from eternity into time as he explains God’s individual call on and looks at the how this impacts each of us. Called simply means to be invited or summoned. God confronts us with a call that demands a response. Our positive response leads to salvation and determines the whole course of our lives.

Secure in God's Choice (6)
01/07/2026To be predestined means that God has arranged in advance the course that your life is to follow. Derek makes clear you are not an accident looking for a place to happen. Instead, you are part of an eternal plan. You’re destined to become a member of God’s family, and it all takes place through His grace and for His glory.

Secure in God's Choice (5)
01/07/2026In this second stage Derek stresses that because God foreknew us, He chose us for His own purposes. He knows who we are and what we can be. As we say yes, He enables us to walk in His grace to fulfill those purposes. He foreknew you and chose you because He knows what you can accomplish together.

Secure in God's Choice (4)
01/07/2026The first stage in this study to contemplate God’s foreknowledge. He knows everything about each of us. Derek here delves into the psalms to illustrate this by examining how we were formed. God knew every process our bodies would pass through and when each member would be formed. In like manner, He has a plan for each of us.

Secure in God's Choice (3)
01/07/2026Using Romans 8:29–30 as his text, Derek begins to look at the seven successive stages of God’s plan for those who love Him, who believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior, and who have become members of God’s family. The culmination of this plan is that we will share Christ’s glory and sit with Him on His throne throughout eternity.

Secure in God's Choice (2)
01/07/2026Today Derek explains that God is behind and in control of the whole universe. He controls the stars, human history, the nations, and our individual lives. More important still, God has a plan for each one of our lives and He is working these out just as surely as He is controlling every other area of the universe.
-
Secure in God's Choice (1)
01/07/2026Derek begins this new study by looking at who God is. Behind the entire universe there is a person, a Creator, who is also a Father. If we can embrace this, we will have a totally new perspective on ourselves, our lives, and everything that goes on around us. All things, including you, have their source and fulfillment in God.

How to Be Led by the Holy Spirit (10)
17/06/2026As we finish this study on the Holy Spirit, Derek addresses two kinds of unions, one in the flesh and one in the Spirit. As we identify with the death of Christ, we are dead to the claims of the law and free to be united in a marriage relationship to the living Christ. In this way we become one Spirit with Him through the Holy Spirit.
-
How to Be Led by the Holy Spirit (9)
17/06/2026Derek warns against the most common hindrance to being led by the Holy Spirit. This is called legalism. Do not seek to achieve righteousness with God by observing any law or set of rules. Never impose requirements for righteousness that God Himself hasn’t imposed. We are to be free from relying on human effort.
-
How to Be Led by the Holy Spirit (8)
17/06/2026Today Derek looks again at 1 Corinthians to add that God isn’t impressed with human strength. For us to have divine strength and power, we must become weak by the standards of this world. The key to this divine weakness which gives strength is found only at the cross.
-
How to Be Led by the Holy Spirit (7)
17/06/2026Derek reveals that God is not impressed by the wisdom of this world. There is another kind of wisdom which seems foolish—that of the cross—which is imparted by the Holy Spirit and is contrary to the spirit of this world. To be truly wise you have to be prepared to lay down the wisdom of the world.
-
How to Be Led by the Holy Spirit (6)
17/06/2026Today Derek shares that the Holy Spirit is the only source of effective guidance and power in our prayer life. He mentions four kinds of prayer: that which is directly based on God’s Word, that which is directly inspired, supernatural prayer in an unknown tongue, and deep intense travailing prayer.
-
How to Be Led by the Holy Spirit (5)
17/06/2026Derek speaks about the relationship between the Word of God and the Holy Spirit, who is the author of the Word. The Holy Spirit directed men to write it, and He knows just what it means. He will also reveal it to us if we will but ask Him. The Holy Spirit never contradicts Himself. He never teaches anything that is contrary to the Word which He Himself gave.
-
How to Be Led by the Holy Spirit (4)
17/06/2026Today Derek explains that the Holy Spirit can do for us what no other can do. Power, might, and sound judgment can be produced only by the Holy Spirit through His inward working in our hearts and lives, where He changes us and conforms us to the likeness of Jesus.
-
How to Be Led by the Holy Spirit (3)
17/06/2026In today’s study, Derek looks at the relationship between Jesus and the Holy Spirit, which is a key to the entire ministry of Jesus. Jesus did nothing until the Holy Spirit came upon Him and then waited for the Holy Spirit’s direction all things. This is a perfect example for how we are to live, taking on the nature of lamb to attract the dove, the Holy Spirit.
-
How to Be Led by the Holy Spirit (2)
17/06/2026Derek emphasizes that the Holy Spirit is a person, the third person of the Godhead. He is just as much a person as God the Father and Jesus Christ the Son are. He was sent to be with us forever and we need to acknowledge His presence and Lordship over our lives.

How to Be Led by the Holy Spirit (1)
17/06/2026In this new series Derek is concerned with our learning how to be led by the Holy Spirit so we may become mature sons of God. When we are born from above by Him, we enter as babes, children of God, destined to become sons. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to lead us in this venture, so we need to get to know Him.
