No '80s movie library would be complete without "Red Dawn," the surprisingly violent movie that pitted American high school kids against a communist invasion, debuted the PG-13 rating, and turned Shat The Movies into a warzone.  While Ash and Gene blast the laughably serious performances and meandering plot, Big D valiantly mounts a counterassault based mostly on Cold War hysteria and a cast that includes Patrick Swayze, Charlie Sheen, Jennifer Grey, Lea Thompson, Harry Dean Stanton, Powers Boothe (minus the mustache), C. Thomas Howell, and Ron O'Neal. Along the way, the Shat Crew battles over child abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and audience abuse. They also discuss re-education camp security, a deleted "love scene," mystery supplies, and whether "Red Dawn" was a call to arms or an anti-war movie disguised so well as a pro-war movie that it just made American kids want to go to war. Few sci-fi movies are so shat-tacular that people accuse them of sinking the studios that made them, but "Robot Jox" isn't your average movie. Described by it's co-writer as, "a child who started out well and then sustained brain damage," this 1990 cult classic nevertheless won the hearts of a few rabid fans, including Shat The Movies mega-donor Jon M. If you like towering mechs doing battle, "Robot Jox" got it. If you like post-apocalyptic worlds, this is the movie for you. Odd wardrobe choices? You bet. Faithful adaptations of Greek epics? I've you've ever wondered why Richard Grieco never made it on the big screen, this 1991 box office flop might be to blame. But was "If Looks Could Kill" really all that bad? Before Tom Sizemore and Mickey Rourke made flops of their careers, they starred in one of the most epic box office failures of the '90s: "Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man." Most '80s and '90s cop movies are cheesy, unfunny, offensive, unintelligent, or a combination of the four. But 1990's "Internal Affairs" joins "L.A. Confidential" as a rare police drama that delivers on quality and thrills. Sporting the worst haircuts of their careers, Andy Garcia and Richard Gere spent two hours trading lethal glares, filthy innuendo, mind games, and silky fabrics. Listener Steve W. decided to make things right by commissioning the 1996 golf comedy classic "Happy Gilmore." Hot on the heels of "Billy Madison," this cameo-filled gut-buster hit the ground running without wasting a minute, made us question what it means to be a winner, championed the everyman, and was endlessly quotable.  Who doesn't love to hate Shooter McGavin? Who doesn't love to love Chubbs? And who ever expected to see Bob Barker kick the crap out of the hero?  "Happy Gilmore" was full of surprises in an era when we thought we'd seen it all. It took a boring game and made it exciting. The '80s gave us two major movies about shrinkage: "Honey, I Shrunk The Kids" and "Innerspace." The former was a wholesome, heartwarming, at times tragic tale of a family sticking together to survive. The latter—a sci-fi jumble of sexy Dennis Quaid, overly complicated tech, annoying Martin Short, and for some reason, a rabbit— is what we're reviewing today. "Innerspace" mixed impressive visual effects that gave us all warm fuzzies as we recalled our days at the science museum. And the chemistry between Short and Quaid led to some feel-good moments.
