  • KDMEO Episode 104 – 100 Days My Prince (100일의 낭군님) 2

    03/10/2018 Duración: 47min

How dare you not have an archery contest after that setup? Judy and Teresa are loving the plot intricacies in episode 2 of “100 Days My Prince” (100일의 낭군님), a TVN drama starring Do KyungSoo (D.O. from EXO) and Nam JiHyun. Judy and Teresa are perturbed by the advances of Investigator Jong Jaeyoon (Kim SunHo) on the moonlit bridge. Just ask any woman if they enjoy being accosted by a cop in the middle of the night and being manhandled for no reason. It's positively charming. Judy enjoys that the female characters, even the villainous ones, have personal motivations and take actions towards their goals.  Digressions:  0:46 - Teresa watched more of "Devilish Joy" 3:05 - Judy is almost done watching "Lawless Lawyer" 5:10 - Judy and Robert watched "Coco" 6:00 - Sandra Oh was nominated for an Emmy!   Audio credits: Mel Brooks - Robin Hood: Men in Tights - "Men In Tights" Daniwell-Aidn - "Nyan Cat" Quincy Jones - Kill Bill Vol. 1 - "Ironside" Please send any questions, comments or suggestions on Facebook, Twitter and

  • KDMEO Episode 103 – Devilish Joy (마성의 기쁨) and 100 Days My Prince (100일의 낭군님)

    26/09/2018 Duración: 01h07min

This week's theme is handsome amnesiacs! Judy and Teresa checked out the first episodes of “Devilish Joy” (마성의 기쁨) and "100 Days My Prince" (100일의 낭군님). Which will we pick as our next featured fall Kdrama? 5:00 - "Devilish Joy" (마성의 기쁨) is from MBN and stars Choi JinHyuk and Song HaYoon. The first episode contains so many drama tropes that if you were to make a drinking game of it, you would probably get alcohol poisoning. PLEASE DRINK RESPONSIBLY. How hard were the facilitators working in that episode? Teresa took some time to research "Cinderella Amnesia". Click here to read the case study! 35:18 - "100 Days My Prince" (100일의 낭군님) is unsurprisingly from TVN and features Do KyungSoo (D.O. from EXO) and Nam JiHyun. If you guys have been listening awhile, you know that Judy hasn't been enamoured with Nam JiHyun in "Suspicious Partners" or "Shopping King Louis", but this is definitely changing that opinion. Judy may also be ranting at some point about people needing to learn from goddamn history, FFS.    Some K

  • KDMEO Episode 102 – Dramaworld

    19/09/2018 Duración: 01h20min

Kimchi slap! Judy and Teresa are pretty sure they would be the best facilitators after watching “Dramaworld", a Viki webseries starring Liv Hewson, Sean Dulake and Justin Chon. It's also currently available on Netflix! As annoying and inept as Claire (Liv Hewson) was as a facilitator, Judy appreciated the actress being 100% committed to this bonkers series. There were truly some excellent jokes about Korean dramas, but we needed more! We wanted "Austin Powers" level of parody, dammit! If Dramaworld gods truly exist, please hire us to be facilitators! Digressions: 0:30 - Listener E-mail! 6:12 - Twilight (both book and movie series) 1:11:40 - Karaoke and Rock Band   Some Korean terms: 제사: [jeh-sa] death ritual.   Audio credits: Super Junior (feat. Leslie Grace) – "Lo Siento" Richard Gibbs – Battlestar Galactica – "Sense of Six"   Please send any questions, comments or suggestions on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (@kdramamyeyesout) or e-mail us (kdramamyeyesout(at)gmail.com). • KDMEO Episode 101 - What did we miss in 2018?

    12/09/2018 Duración: 01h33min

This week, Judy and Teresa checked out some dramas that our listeners suggested to us in 2018! 2:31 - "Come and Hug Me" (이리와 안아줘) is an MBC drama starring Jang KiYong and Jin KiJoo. In spite of the questionable portrayal of psychopathy, this drama had an intriguing premise of the son of a serial killer falling in love with the victims' family member. How can this relationship possibly work out? Judy will never find out, because she abandoned this drama as soon as there was a dog in danger.  25:21 - "Mister Sunshine" (미스터 션샤인) is a lush TVN production starring Lee ByungHun, Kim Taeri, Yoo YeonSeok and Kim MinJung. The English-speaking actors are, quite honestly, not the worst we've seen in Korean dramas. We feel embarrassed about our lack of knowledge about that time in history, but not as much as when the drama hamfistedly tells the viewers about the amazing nobility of the American soldiers and the determination of the Korean people.  52:33 - "Are You Human Too?" (너도 인간이니?) is a KBS drama starring Seo KangJo

  • KDMEO Episode 100 - Happy Anniversary - Along With The Gods: The Two Worlds

    05/09/2018 Duración: 01h50min

Happy anniversary, everyone! Judy and Teresa are joined by Robert and David to talk about “Along With The Gods: The Two Worlds” (신과 함께: 죄와 벌), the 2017 hit film starring Cha TaeHyun, Ha JungWoo, Ju JiHoon and Kim HyangGi. *SPOILER ALERT* Obviously we spoil everything that happens in thsi film, but we also spoil a scene from "Inside Out", the Pixar film.*** Next week is our "What did we miss in 2018?" episode! Thanks to our listeners' suggestions, Judy and Teresa will be talking about "Come And Hug Me" (이리와 안아줘), "Mister Sunshine" (미스터 션샤인), "Thirty But Seventeen" (서른이지만 열일곱입니다) and "Are You Human Too?" (너도 인간이니?).  Digressions: 3:21 - We talk about the "bride and groom dance" (꼭두각시춤) that we saw at the Korean Harvest Festival at Mel Lastman Square in Toronto. 7:06 - Google translate and Wikipedia 29:20 - Asian virtues and video games? 1:19:37 - Crying at movies   Some Korean terms: 한복: [han-bok] Korean traditional clothing. 누룽지: [noo-roong-ji] scorched rice.   Audio credits: Pinkfong - "꼭두각시춤" - Click to watc

  • KDMEO Episode 99 – What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim (김비서가 왜 그럴까) 15-16

    29/08/2018 Duración: 01h13min

Let's be honest. There were some nonsensical bits in this finale week. In spite of this, Judy and Teresa were pleasantly satisfied with episodes 15-16 of “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim” (김비서가 왜 그럴까), a TVN drama starring Park MinYoung and Park SeoJoon. What is this salty discharge? Judy was openly crying at multiple scenes this week, while Teresa was comparatively unaffected. We were annoyed that Miso (Park MinYoung) seems uninterested in her own damn wedding and even more that the writers didn't spend enough exploring the reasons why. How did the writers wrangle us into rooting for Newbie Secretary (Pyo YeJin) and One Suit Man (Chansung)?  If you like the song that Youngjoon (Park SeoJoon) sings for his proposal, it's a really lovely song from 1987 by Yoo JaeHa called "You in my bosom" (유재하 - 그대 내 품에). Click here to listen to it.  Next week is our 100th episode and second anniversary! We went on a double date with Robert and David to the Korean Harvest Festival for some delicious food (check out our Insta

  • KDMEO Episode 98 – What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim (김비서가 왜 그럴까) 13-14

    22/08/2018 Duración: 01h12min

Miracle of miracles! Did we actually beat the Penultimate Week Syndrome? Judy and Teresa are pretty happy with episodes 13-14 of “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim” (김비서가 왜 그럴까), a TVN drama starring Park MinYoung and Park SeoJoon. Judy is still channelling evil mother-in-law against One Suit Man (Chansung) and Newbie Secretary's (Pyo YeJin) budding relationship. Teresa is annoyed with Youngjoon's (Park SeoJoon) clinginess in episode 13 and needs him to turn down the unintended creep factor. Lipstick Lady (Hwang BoRa) is impressing us more and more. Just think about how much her character has come since the first week!    There was a cameo this week by Jung YuMi as Youngjoon's childhood friend. This actress was in a reality show called "Youn’s Kitchen 2" (윤식당2) with Park SeoJoon. It's so relaxing. Check it out on Viki, especially if you like Park SeoJoon!     Digressions: 46:54 - Teresa's childhood proposal. We want to know if any of you guys have any cute stories of proposals from your childhood!   Please send

  • KDMEO Episode 97 – What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim (김비서가 왜 그럴까) 11-12

    15/08/2018 Duración: 01h15min

Will somebody please get these characters a psychiatrist for heaven's sake? Judy and Teresa are puzzled by episodes 11-12 of “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim” (김비서가 왜 그럴까), a TVN drama starring Park MinYoung and Park SeoJoon. Secretary Yang (Kang HongSeok) and Lipstick Lady (Hwang BoRa) are our favourite relationship this week. Somehow we don't think this was supposed to happen, but how can we help it when Youngjoon (Park SeoJoon) and Miso (Park MinYoung) are regressing all of a sudden? We also worry about the potential of President Park (Kang KiYoung) and Secretary Seol (Ye Won) becoming another couple, because what else can this drama possibly throw at us? They already eliminated Morpheus (Lee TaeHwan) as the main antagonist!   Digressions: 34:10 - Kdramas keep suggesting that arm pillows are romantic for some reason. We're here to tell you that arm pillows are the worst. 43:52 - Oh wait, are lullabies even worse?   Some Korean terms: 성기: [sung-gi] genitals. 아저씨: [ah-juh-ssi] a way of addressing an older ma

  • KDMEO Episode 96 – What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim (김비서가 왜 그럴까) 9-10

    08/08/2018 Duración: 01h15min

Did you guys love that closet kiss or what? Judy and Teresa are intrigued by episodes 9-10 of “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim” (김비서가 왜 그럴까), a TVN drama starring Park MinYoung and Park SeoJoon. What is wrong with the family members of our lead characters? Youngjoon's (Park SeoJoon) shady family urgently needs a therapist, while Miso's (Park MinYoung) sisters need to check their attitudes. This week is saved by the absolutely great closet kiss (you know the one) and Secretary Yang (Kang HongSeok) making progress with Lipstick Lady (Hwang BoRa). Judy refuses to watch the new kdrama, “Time”, if only for the fact that Kim JungHyun continues to be sourfaced in it. Teresa tried the first two episodes of “Come and Hug Me” and was intrigued by it. Judy is still watching and loving “Lawless Lawyer”.   Digressions: 0:48 - Domino's in Korea 29:28 - Teresa's childhood nickname 38:08 - Judy explains the finer points of "Oppa" 47:25 - Why do Koreans love crabs in soy sauce so much? 55:23 - Traditional Korean medicine meth

  • KDMEO Episode 95 – What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim (김비서가 왜 그럴까) 7-8

    01/08/2018 Duración: 01h23min

Yaaass, take charge, Miso! Judy and Teresa start off hangry but eventually applaud episodes 7-8 of “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim” (김비서가 왜 그럴까), a TVN drama starring Park MinYoung and Park SeoJoon. Why is Morpheus (Lee TaeHwan), a famous author, such a petulant antagonist instead of a being a shady wit? Where are his versions of Shakespearean burns? Judy theorizes that absolutely no one in this universe knows how to flirt, not just Youngjoon (Park SeoJoon) and Miso (Park MinYoung). Prepare yourselves for Teresa's wacky theory about the kidnapping incident.    Digressions: 43:21 - "The Classic", 2003 film starring Son YeJin and Jo InSung. Click here to watch the music video for the movie.    Audio credits: Jajunguh Tan PoongGyung (자전거 탄 풍경) – "Me to you, you to me" (너에게 난 나에게 넌)   Please send any questions, comments or suggestions on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (@kdramamyeyesout) or e-mail us (kdramamyeyesout(at)gmail.com). • KDMEO Episode 94 – What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim (김비서가 왜 그럴까) 5-6

    25/07/2018 Duración: 01h14min

We seriously need to invest in claw machines. Judy and Teresa are feeling better about episodes 5-6 of “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim” (김비서가 왜 그럴까), a TVN drama starring Park MinYoung and Park SeoJoon. How can you go through life as a Korean and not know the simple joys of instant ramen? For shame!!! Judy realizes why she is so against Morpheus (Lee TaeHwan) and proves herself to be a terrible person. So far, the drama is doing an excellent job at balancing the mystery with romance and we're very hopeful that this continues!    Digressions: 6:00 - The finer points of ramen 44:04 - Devil's goddamn advocates 55:13 - Teresa dislikes Ted Mosby 55:38 - We need a lead for fresh pork rinds   Some Korean terms: 넌 아무것도 못해: [nun-ah-moo-gut-do-mot-heh] "You can't do anything"; Youngjoon (Park SeoJoon) uses the informal "you" instead of using the title "hyung" (older brother), which emphasizes just how little respect he has for Morpheus . 기억하개: [gi-uk-ha-geh] a play on "기억하게", meaning "(I want you to) remember" and "개"

  • KDMEO Episode 93 – What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim (김비서가 왜 그럴까) 3-4

    18/07/2018 Duración: 01h20min

Are neckties a fetish thing now? Judy and Teresa squirm through episodes 3-4 of “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim” (김비서가 왜 그럴까), a TVN Kdrama starring Park MinYoung and Park SeoJoon. Judy wants to try out a new portmanteau, "squort". It's a combination of "squeal" and "snort", to be used in situations that are corny but also make you squeal with delight. Judy and Teresa furrow their eyebrows at the physically nonsensical way that Miso (Park MinYoung) keeps falling on top of Youngjoon (Park SeoJoon), especially because if it wasn't these two characters in this exact situation, there would be lawsuits and calls to HR. Judy can't believe that a novelist is getting mobbed by fans at the airport. We are introduced to Youngjoon's older brother, Morpheus (Lee TaeHwan), and refuse to learn his actual name.    Digressions: 3:25 - Rollercoasters 11:09 - Sometimes Kdrama tropes work! 1:18:49 - Cowboy Bebop   Some Korean terms: 수고했소: [soo-go-het-so] an older form of saying "수고했다" [soo-go-het-da], meaning "You've worked ha

  • KDMEO Episode 92 – What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim (김비서가 왜 그럴까) 1-2

    11/07/2018 Duración: 01h45s

We have to learn new names now! Judy and Teresa are elated with their choice of “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim” (김비서가 왜 그럴까), a TVN drama starring Park MinYoung and Park SeoJoon. Judy loves the cadence of Youngjoon (Park SeoJoon) and Miso's (Park MinYoung) conversations. Teresa feels bad for Youngjoon, because he doesn't seem to have any social skills outside of business. Judy makes a bold prediction about the mysterious "Oppa" from Miso's childhood! Digressions: 3:14 - Nose bridge? 26:45 - Judy and Teresa pander to nonexistent sponsors 53:05 - Teresa discovers a new...fetish?   Some Korean terms: 드럽게 재수없어요: [deu-rup-geh-jeh-soo-up-suh-yo] "hella obnoxious". 끌어내: [ggeul-uh-neh] "drag him/her/it away". 꼬마야: [ggoh-mah-yah] way of calling to a "little child".   Yes, it was a tight race last week between this drama and "Lawless Lawyer" (무법변호사). We are watching "Lawless Lawyer" on the side and it's nice to just enjoy something without worrying about taking notes for recording. Please send any questions, comments

  • KDMEO Episode 91 – First Impressions Summer 2018

    04/07/2018 Duración: 01h03min

Which hot new Korean drama will get us through the summer? Judy and Teresa watched four new summer dramas!  1:15 - "Lawless Lawyer" (무법변호사) is a TVN drama starring Lee JoonGi and Seo YeJi. Judy was excited by the action scenes and Teresa loves the unfolding of the tragic backstories of the main characters. The two leads also have incredible chemistry and we vow to continue watching this drama. 13:13 - "The Undateables" (훈남정음) is a SBS drama that stars Nam GoongMin and Hwang JungEum. Unfortunately, we found this drama weirdly mean-spirited in making fun of suicide and people who don't fit into certain beauty standards.  29:24 - "About Time" (어바웃타임) is another TVN production, starring Lee SungKyung and Lee SangYoon. The portrayal of anxiety disorders was accurate, but that's about all it had going for it. Judy disliked the male lead immensely. Teresa is annoyed by the contrived use of fate. PSA: Everyone should take a CPR class. 48:05 - "What's Wrong With Secretary Kim?" (김비서가 왜 그럴까) is also from TVN and stars

  • KDMEO Episode 90 - Mother (마더)

    27/06/2018 Duración: 01h38min

Prepare yourselves for all of the feels! It's Judy and Teresa's special episode of the critically acclaimed TVN series, “Mother” (마더), starring Lee BoYoung, Heo Yool and Lee HyeYoung. This entire episode is full of spoilers, so if you haven't watched "Mother" yet, grab some kleenex and do it already! Teresa could see plot twists coming from a mile away but still found them intriguing. Judy revels in the melodrama, which allows her to be thankful for the lack of drama in her own life. As beautiful and well-crafted as this drama was, it could not escape from the Penultimate Week Curse. *shake fist* Next week, we'll be releasing a "First Impressions" episode featuring "What's Wrong With Secretary Kim?", "The Undateables", "About Time" and "Lawless Lawyer". Which one will we pick?   Audio credits: Harvey Keitel as Winston Wolfe in "Pulp Fiction" Please send any questions, comments or suggestions on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (@kdramamyeyesout) or e-mail us (kdramamyeyesout(at)gmail.com). • KDMEO Episode 89 - Go Go Waikiki (으라차차 와이키키) 19-20

    20/06/2018 Duración: 01h09min

Were there jokes this week? Judy and Teresa cackle in disbelief at episodes 19-20 of “Go Go Waikiki” (으라차차 와이키키), a JTBC drama starring Kim JungHyun, Lee YiKyung, Song SeungWon, Jung InSun, Go WonHee and Lee JooWoo. Judy mourns the loss of Hyunjoon (Kang KyungJoon), who was replaced (?!?!) by the blandest love rival, "Sol's dad", whose name we can't even be bothered to look up. Teresa just wants Donggoo (Kim JungHyun) to GTFO already and go to Dubai.  Next week, we will be doing a special episode about "Mother" starring Lee BoYoung and Heo Yool. Then we have a "First Impressions" episode featuring "What's Wrong With Secretary Kim?", "The Undateables", "About Time" and "Lawless Lawyer".  Digressions: 9:48 - David's interesting fashion choices for videogame characters 21:02 - Another one of Judy's secrets revealed!   Some Korean terms: 봉산탈춤: [bong-san-tal-choom] a traditional Korean masked dance; dancers have long white sleeves which inspires Sooah; click here to watch a clip of this dance! 우유빛깔: [oo-yoo-bit-kk

  • KDMEO Episode 88 - Go Go Waikiki (으라차차 와이키키) 17-18

    13/06/2018 Duración: 01h09min

Sound the Penultimate Week alarm! Judy and Teresa are absolutely exhausted by episodes 17-18 of “Go Go Waikiki” (으라차차 와이키키), a JTBC drama starring Kim JungHyun, Lee YiKyung, Song SeungWon, Jung InSun, Go WonHee and Lee JooWoo. Judy defies anyone to tell her that they feel love when they're watching Yoonah (Jung InSun) and Donggoo (Kim JungHyun) on the screen together. Teresa is extremely tired during recording, probably from rolling her eyes so hard. For Judy, the one bright point in these two episodes was being reminded of '90s NBC sitcom, "Frasier" and wishing she could be watching that instead. Who could have foreseen that Sooah (Lee JooWoo) and Doosik (Song SeungWon) would end up being our favourite couple? When we're done talking about "Go Go Waikiki", we will be doing a special episode about "Mother" starring Lee BoYoung and Heo Yool. Then we have a "First Impressions" episode featuring "What's Wrong With Secretary Kim?", "The Undateables", "About Time" and "Lawless Lawyer". Contact us if you have any p

  • KDMEO Episode 87 - Go Go Waikiki (으라차차 와이키키) 15-16

    06/06/2018 Duración: 01h27min

Judy and Teresa are vexed by episodes 15-16 of “Go Go Waikiki” (으라차차 와이키키), a JTBC drama starring Kim JungHyun, Lee YiKyung, Song SeungWon, Jung InSun, Go WonHee and Lee JooWoo. How is Donggoo (Kim JungHyun) the main character? How and why do his housemates endure his self-absorbed antics? Why does Yoonah (Jung InSun) like him? Teresa suggests that Yoonah is so bland because she’s supposed to be a Mary-Sue character and Judy is tremendously irritated. Is Yoonah so without personal motivation that Hyunjoon (Kang KyungJoon) has to tell her that she likes Donggoo and there's a montage that's supposed to prove this?  Here's a clip from "Community" season 2 episode, "Paradigms of Human Memory", which shows montages can be manipulated to work for anybody: Click here! Digressions: 18:00 - Korean makgeolli will mess you up 19:30 - Arrested Development 30:04 - The fine art of kimchi stew 35:44 - We speculate which video game Joonki is playing 51:55 - Judy loves when people join the dark side    Some Korean terms: 막걸리:

  • KDMEO Episode 86 - Go Go Waikiki (으라차차 와이키키) 13-14

    30/05/2018 Duración: 01h18min

    Judy and Teresa are feeling ambivalent about episodes 13-14 of “Go Go Waikiki” (으라차차 와이키키), a JTBC drama starring Kim JungHyun, Lee YiKyung, Song SeungWon, Jung InSun, Go WonHee and Lee JooWoo. The production quality is consistently excellent. Judy loves all the music references and wants to be friends with the drama's music director. We also love all the callbacks to previous episodes, which shows that the staff know how to structure the series to make it fun.  So how is it that they have to pad out all the good bits with such perplexing and/or boring crap? Donggoo (Kim JungHyun) pretending to be injured so that Yoonah (Jung InSun) has to do stuff for him is super gross. Seojin (Go WonHee) being randomly mean to Joonki (Lee YiKyung) makes us dislike her character. We suspect it's from the fact that they extended this drama from 16 to 20 episodes.    Digressions: 43:25 - Teresa's obsession with pandan (Wikipedia) 55:49 - Seojin unwittingly joins our club   Some Korean terms: 똥: [ddong] poo. 빵: [ppang] bread;

  • KDMEO Episode 85 - Go Go Waikiki (으라차차 와이키키) 11-12

    23/05/2018 Duración: 01h33min

Judy and Teresa are, for the most part, still in love with episodes 11-12 of “Go Go Waikiki” (으라차차 와이키키), a JTBC drama starring Kim JungHyun, Lee YiKyung, Song SeungWon, Jung InSun, Go WonHee and Lee JooWoo.   Teresa empathizes with Sooah's (Lee JooWoo) predicament. Judy applauds Yoonah (Jung InSun) for rejecting Donggoo’s (Kim JungHyun) confession, which was the right thing to do, considering his subsequent descent into obsession. Until now, we've been pretty forgiving of Joonki's (Lee YiKyung) shenanigans, but we were completely weirded out by him offering up Seojin (Go WonHee) for an audition.   Digressions: 10:21 - Asian ladies love David 43:49 - Korean actor, Shin HyunJoon (Wikipedia) 1:19:53 - Finger flicks (Youtube video of an example)   Some Korean terms: 싫어요: [shi-ruh-yo] "I hate it" or "I don't want to". 나쁜놈: [na-ppeun-nom] bastard; literally "bad guy". 죽인다: [jook-in-da] "I'll kill [person]". 공기: [gong-gi] Korean version of the game, jacks; homonym for "air".   Audio credits: Wanna One – "나야 나" (Pic
