Postgame 1/31: Three from the bee's knees
01/02/2021 Duración: 44minThe Philadelphia Flyers kept their winning ways intact on Saturday night as they took care of the New York Islanders 4-3 thanks to Kevin Hayes’ overtime tally to make it four straight victories. Joel Farabee produced his second hat trick in the win as he lasered a few dishes from James van Riemsdyk (three assists) past Ilya Sorokin to hand the Orange and Black their fourth win in their last five meetings with New York. The Flyers’ forecheck was effective in the first 40 minutes as two of Farabee’s markers came off plays JVR made to gain possession of the puck in the offensive zone before the second-year forward benefitted with goals. It looked as though it was going to be the Flyers’ night until the third period, when the club allowed two preventable goals before finding themselves needing extra time resulting in Hollywood Hayes’ knockout punch. Along with the usual concerns surrounding this team involving defense and toughness, we also delved into if we should be concerned about the power play, the penalty k

Postgame 1/30: Maybe looking bad is a real strategy
31/01/2021 Duración: 30minThis episode of postgame is all about the Flyers and their struggles, and the conflict between wanting to criticize them and also wanting to celebrate the 6-2-1 record. However, I'm going to use this space to talk about how awful the New York Islanders are. Their style of hockey is simply just "cheating." They get away with everything because Barry Trotz is one of the good ol' boys and since they interfere on literally every shift, the refs won't call it because it's just "how they play the game." It's bullshit. It makes for awful television and is exactly what will continue to drive down the value of the NHL's on-ice product, which needs selling pretty soon. Good luck with that. Anyway, The Flyers won in a thrilling overtime after a fairly pedestrian and often frustrating 60 minutes of regulation hockey, if you can call what the Isles play "hockey," that is. Also, Shayne Gostisbehere is back, baby! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices Learn more about your ad choices. Visit p

Postgame 1/28: However, Carter Hart
29/01/2021 Duración: 45minThe Philadelphia Flyers entered Thursday night's game against the New Jersey Devils with nine points in the standings and left the game with 11. That's good. But, like... does this look like a very good team to you right now? Philly was outshot 34-17 on the night, and 24-8 through the first two periods. The break out, defensive assignments, and actually shooting when possessing the puck in the vicinity of the opposing net continued to be issues. However, Carter Hart. The 22-year-old netminder saw his first action since his stick-smashing effort against Boston last week, and he won the game for the oranger and black. Hart stopped 33 of Jersey's 34 offerings, giving his team a chance despite a lackluster first 40 minutes of play in front of him. If nothing else, Hart's game gave fans a reason to be optimistic. Ok, that's all I've got, this is more than enough words. Listen to the podcast now. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices Learn more about your ad choices. BSH Radio #292: Chuck, plug the hole
28/01/2021 Duración: 01h21minThe Flyers have a winning record but it's been... messy, to say the least. So the gang takes a look at what's going well, what's going wrong, and what the heck needs to be done with the tire fire of a defense. Learn more about your ad choices. Postgame 1/26: Good enough, for now...
27/01/2021 Duración: 45minThe headline should be the Philadelphia Flyers beat the New Jersey Devils 5-3. The power play converted early, with James van Riemsdyk netting a pair of man-advantage goals in the game's first 21 minutes, Shayne Gostisbehere looking solid in his first action of the season, and the depth came up big in the third period, with goals from Nolan Patrick and Joel Farabee to put the game out of reach. Good stuff. But, as is always the case, context is king. After the Flyers went up 2-0 59 seconds into the second period, they found themselves tied with NJ by the end of the middle frame, and unable to reclaim momentum for a majority of the second half of the game. Still, Philly went up 5-2 on an Ivan Provorov long-range empty-netter before surrendering a goal to Pavel Zacha with 1:08 remaining in the third and earned themselves two points in the standings to rebound from their awful showings against Boston last week. This post game is a temperature check for the fanbase, unpacking the good and bad from the team's firs

Postgame 1/23: I miss the good Flyers
24/01/2021 Duración: 47minThe Philadelphia Flyers capped off a forgettable trip to Boston with a 6-1 shellacking on Saturday to create more questions than answers when it comes to deciding what to make of the Orange and Black in 2021. After Kevin Hayes leveled the score at one 1:14 into the second stanza, the Bruins rattled off the contest’s final five goals for Philly’s second game with six goals against only six tilts into the season. Carter Hart allowed six goals on 26 shots against, but as has been the case all season it’s not all on him. The skaters in front of Hart certainly had their hand in a few goals last night, especially Erik Gustafsson. The team actually did well clogging up the neutral zone early last night before the game started to unravel, as well as limiting multi-chance cycles and extended zone time against, but they still left Hart helpless on several plays. With nearly every element of the team struggling at the moment there was a lot to talk about in last night’s postgame including the defense, needing to add ano

Postgame 1/19: Would you call it a... GRITTY win?
20/01/2021 Duración: 56minThe Philadelphia Flyers rebounded from Monday’s embarrassing loss with a 3-0 win over the Buffalo Sabres at the Wells Fargo Center on Tuesday night. The Flyers collected their fifth and sixth points in the standings on the back of Brian Elliott’s 40-save shutout, and Travis Konecny’s clutch breakaway goal late in the second period, to improve their record to 3-1-0 for the season.
