Fresco is a very sweet, very smart 3 year old male dog who is as loyal as they come! He has had quite the journey with us here at Al-Van Humane Society, and so many of us are very proud of the progress he has made. He has been at Al-Van for 216 DAYS!! Fresco loves his squishy toys more than life itself, and walks come in close second. As soon as you ask Fresco if he’d like to go for a walk, he gleams from ear to ear! He has been known to do very well with puzzle toys and any other toy that encourages enrichment. He’s got a big head to house his large brain and he’s ready to find the knee to rest it on! Fresco does have some prey drive, so he would do best in a home without cats or small animals, and he would need to meet any dogs that already reside in a home before adoption. Fresco is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and ready for his forever home! It’s Furry Friends Friday featuring “Rush” from Paws Of Hope, brought to you by The Mason Jar Cafe.   Rush is a male cat with a beautiful orange and white coat. Our veterinarian estimates Rush’s age at approximately six years old. Rush had been living outside in the cold and developed frostbite on his ears. Seeking shelter from the cold, he eventually found his way onto the porch of a Good Samaritan. Rush is extremely friendly and affectionate. Although he has only lived outdoors, Rush is quickly learning the comforts of indoor-only life and is adjusting well. Rush has been neutered, is up to date on vaccinations, tested negative for FeLV-FIV, his frostbitten ears have been treated. It’s Furry Friends Friday, brought to you by The Mason Jar Cafe, featuring Sissy from Al-Van Humane Society!   Sissy is a lovely 2-year-old dog who enjoys chew-toys, doing tricks for treats, and receiving pets from just about anyone! She has been here at Al-Van Humane Society since December of 2021 and, while she loves all of our kennel attendants and office staff, she is having a hard time living in a kennel. Sissy gets so excited when seeing people walk past her kennel that she gets “happy tail,” which has caused her minor injury. Sissy can be dog selective, so she would need to meet any current pets in the home prior to adoption. She is patiently awaiting her furever home! Apollo is an American Pitbull Terrier and Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. He is just under 3 years old and has been at our shelter for about 4 months. When he came in we were told that he is skittish around new people, however, in the time he’s been with us Apollo has begun to open up. When you spend time with Apollo, he will show you how goofy and playful he can be, as well as his desire for attention and love. Apollo would really thrive in a home with an owner who is patient and willing to show him that new things are not as scary as they seem. Apollo is house broken, crate trained, and knows basic commands such as sit and shake.  When Apollo visited the veterinarian he was very friendly with the staff, and was even well-behaved while his toenails were being trimmed. He has not had a meet and greet with another animal, however, he is very curious about other dogs. This is Melody.  She came to Animal Aid with a crushed tail and two male kittens. Both of Melody’s boys are in a wonderful home and she is now looking for her own forever home. Melody has recovered from the surgery to remove most of her tail, leaving a small nub. She has been spayed and received her vaccinations. Melody has come out of her shell and is proving to be a sweet, affectionate girl. She is good with other cats and dogs, and has been around young children. It’s Furry Friends Friday with Stella at Berrien County Animal Control – Berrien County Government, brought to you by The Mason Jar Cafe!   Stella is a 1-2 year old terrier mix, weighing 46 pounds. Stella enjoys zooming around the play yard on sunny days, and there are certain dogs here at the shelter whom she likes to romp around with. Stella would not do well in a home with cats. Sassy is an energetic one year old who loves walks, running, and playing with children and other dogs. She is a free feeder and loves to cuddle. Bootsy, an American Terrier, will put your world on TILT! What this adorable, goofy 3-5 yr old lacks in brains, he makes up for with heart. Bootsy is guaranteed to make you smile! Miso is a young female kitten who was rescued by Animal Aid of SW Michigan. She was living with her siblings under a mobile home. Boo, Ghost, and Goblin, are the most adorable ‘spooky’ kittens you’ll ever see and they’re ready to find their new forever homes!  These spooky little kittens are about seven weeks old.  At first, these young kittens are timid when it comes to new surroundings.  However, once comfortable they are ready to cause mischief!  Ghost, with his long hair, enjoys curling up to watch his siblings from a distance before sneaking up on them.
