  • Ep. 44- Burned by Burnley, Burden for Pellegrino, with Jake Hughes of St. Mary's Musings

    07/11/2017 Duración: 01h03min

Well, well, well. Here we are again, slightly bitter, disappointed, frustrated, yet somehow very happy to be here, talking with yet another great guest for this week’s podcast. This week, after a disappointing match against Burley, where one of our own fans, Sam Vokes, scored against us to take all three points, I’m joined by Jake Hughes (@JJHughes_ on Twitter). Jake is the editor of St. Mary’s Musings (you can also find them on Twitter @StMarysMusings) in addition to writing about MMA for various outlets. From his story of becoming a Saints’ fan, to writing about the club, listening to metal and interviewing some of the biggest names in MMA, I think you will enjoy our chat. Be sure to give both Jake and St. Mary’s Musings a follow on Twitter and check out the website, both are well worth your time!   Don’t forget to send us any feedback, subscribe and leave us a review, whenever you get your podcasts.   You can now listen to the most recent episodes on Soundcloud and YouTube. • Ep. 43- Breakdown in Brighton, with Matt Beling of the We Are Southampton Page

    31/10/2017 Duración: 01h01s

This week I am delighted to be joined by Matt Beling of the WeAreSouthampton Page on Instagram. You hear me talk about him every week but this week I got to talk to him, not just about him. It’s always a pleasure to chat with Matt and, as always, he was great. We talk about his page and some of the changes that have gone on since last February, as well as his trip down to Brighton to catch Saints’ 1-1 draw against the newest south coast team to join the Premier League. It’s not all rainbows, as Matt and I give an honest opinion of the match, the manager, and the team.   I hope you enjoy the show and, as always, thank you for listening. Be sure to check out Matt’s page- https://www.instagram.com/wearesouthampton/?hl=en if you haven’t done so already.   Don’t forget to send us any feedback, subscribe and leave us a review, whenever you get your podcasts.   You can now listen to the most recent episodes on Soundcloud and YouTube. • Ep. 42- Boufal Bags Wondergoal, Baggies, and 3 Points, with Owen Hawes

    24/10/2017 Duración: 01h05min

This week some pretty good things happened. Saints got three points, we scored from open play, The Astros made the World Series for the first time since 2005, and the Dynamo got a home playoff match by finishing 4th in the conference. Overall a pretty good sporting weekend from my perspective. It was made even better by getting to chat with Owen Hawes, @Owen_TheSaints on Twitter. Owen writes a blog- owenthesaintsblog.wordpress.com- and contributes to the 90min football YouTube Channel (his most recent video can be found here). In addition to blogging and vlogging, he’s a creative writing and drama student in Kingston. I very much enjoyed getting his perspective on the match and the team, and also appreciate him giving me so much of his time. We talk Southampton vs. West Brom, the Boufal goal, his reaction, team selection and more. I hope you enjoy the show! Be sure give Owen and 90min a follow on Twitter and visit owenthesaintsblog.wordpress.com for more of Owen’s writing. Don’t forget to send us any feed

  • Ep. 41- 2 Goals, 1 Point, and a Lucky Draw, with Richard Brereton

    17/10/2017 Duración: 45min

Link to donate to a Saints family who lost their home and possessions in the wildfires currently raging in Northern California. https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/keith-seymour-1 What to make of the return of football to St. Mary’s after the international break… we changed the system, we scored, we equalized twice and came away with a point, but we also fell behind twice to newly promoted, tight-wad Newcastle. There are definitely cracks in the team that need addressing, and supporters are becoming increasingly more worried about the lack of points on the board given the schedule we’ve had to this point.   To help me break down the match against Newcastle this week is Richard Brereton, editor of the @Saints_Panel. He was a joy to have on the show again and I wish we could have talked for longer. But, there is more to life than recording the podcast… at least that’s what my wife tells me. You can reach Richard on Twitter @RichardBrer and you can follow the Southampton Panel @Saints_Panel.   Don’

  • Ep. 40- Enjoying the Break, with James George, Post2Post Pod, and the Exiled Geordies

    10/10/2017 Duración: 01h08min

I think I made the most of my international break. I spent some time with family, ruined a family picture, jumped from a moving vehicle, and a bunch of other things I’m not willing to commit to writing. If you followed my Instagram story I’d like to apologize for what you may have seen.   I also used the break as an opportunity to talk with three different podcast hosts about their podcasts, Saints, and our upcoming match against Newcastle. First off, I spoke with James George (@mrjamesgeorge on Twitter), who hosts the the @saintsfanspod along with Marc Higgins (@MarcTR4). We talked about James and his family moving to California, what his life was like growing up playing football, doing reality TV, working at TalkSport, and winding up running two podcasts here in the US. If you haven’t listened to them yet you really should give them a shot. • Ep. 39- Stunned but Still Stoked, with Chris Hughes and Kirsty Bell

    03/10/2017 Duración: 01h16min

This week I am joined by TWO, yes TWO guests. The first is Chris Hughes, site expert at Saints Marching. He is a Saint loving journalist who brings passion and professionalism to his job and the team. I enjoyed chatting with him and, at least partly because the Stoke match was what it was, we don’t really go play-by through the game, but we cover it all and I think you’ll enjoy it. Links to Chris’ personal Twitter account, the Saints Marching account, and the Saints Marching website are all below. I encourage you to check them out when you have a chance (or now, now is also good). *Note- I recorded this interview on Sunday morning, as signs of illness were becoming apparent. I was drinking a large amount of tea during the interview to try and keep my voice from cracking, but it’s fairly obvious I was sick… I apologize for that. Also,I’m more sick today.   My second guest this week is Kirsty Bell. We’re talking with her because she is the Captain of the Southampton Women’s Football Club, but she’s really so

  • Ep. 38- To United We Fall, But Together We March On, with Dan James

    26/09/2017 Duración: 49min

Dan James (@TheDanJames) is a regular guy… if by regular guy you mean an absolute stud who hasn’t missed an away day in 3 years, who coaches and works for the Saints Foundation and who appears almost every week on the Ugly Inside Fan Cams. Dan was kind enough to find time to chat with me after the ManU match about all sorts of things. We kept the recorded conversation to Dan's background and work, Saints’ latest match, the issues we are facing, listener questions and a bit more. I think you'll enjoy it. Dan is involved in lots of things, and those things are really good. So, links to those really good things are below. Check them out! Links discussed in the show! • EP. 37- 3 Points, 3 Points, and Again I say 3 Points, with Blake Hampton

    19/09/2017 Duración: 49min

This week Saints went to Selhurst Park and refused to go Dutch, taking all three points from a Crystal Palace side playing their first match under new manager Roy Hodgson. Saints played well for most of the match, with good performances all the way up the spine of the team. I’m joined by Blake Hampton to discuss the match and take some listener questions. You can find Blake on Twitter @SFCBlake and you can get his writing @TheSaintsReport and @EIFsoccer. Blake is fantastic follow, and his writing often takes an interesting angle on what goes in within and around teams… he might even coach an academy team, but that’s none of my business. Anyway, we discuss our match against Palace, from the Davis goal to the Lemina challenges, from Forster’s reaction saves to Hoedt’s long, raking, beautiful passes and we also take some listener questions.   There are two new ways to enjoy the show. You can now listen to the most recent episodes on Soundcloud and YouTube, and you can still subscribe wherever you get your pod

  • Ep. 36- No CAM, No Shots, No Service, with Dan Hargraves

    12/09/2017 Duración: 51min

Finally, the international break is over. I was anxiously awaiting the end of the break and very much looking forward to the return of the Southampton Football Club… and then we played Watford. I read about it online before I actually saw it, and man was it tough to watch…I spoke with Dan Hargraves, who’s on Twitter @dhargravessfc and who’s YouTube Channel can be found here about it all. If you haven’t subscribed to his channel yet be sure to do so. You won’t be disappointed. Dan and I talked about his Vlogging and writing, as well as Watford, the manager, the transfer window and more. I really enjoyed chatting with Dan and I hope you find our conversation to be both pleasant and intriguing. There are two new ways to enjoy the show. • Ep. 35- He Came In Through the Transfer Window

    05/09/2017 Duración: 01h24min

The international break can be a time of boredom, but, luckily for us, the first half of it was filled with the final week of the summer transfer window. Depending on your perspective, that could make it better or worse. I, for one, am glad the window is over. VVD is ours, we’ve reinforced the backline and added to the midfield. However, we didn’t add to the attacking third. The initial results are in and, for this episode, we’re going to talk to 5 different people and get their grades on the Saints’ summer transfer business.   I’d like to thank all of my guests for their time and effort. It’s not always easy for people to do this, and I’m truly blessed to have had the opportunity to speak with each of them. Give them a follow on their various social media platforms.   This week’s guests, in order of appearance: Scott Shenton- Facebook Hasan Tariq- @HasanTariq10 John Bailey- His podcast @SaintsFCPodcast Robbie- @SAINTSINFRANCE Ben Stanfield- @BenStanners. • Ep. 34- Wolves and Terriers and Birdies (Oh My)

    29/08/2017 Duración: 01h05min

This week I had the pleasure of speaking with Nashville SC’s newest intern… he also goes to Belmont University, writes for The Saints Report, EIF Soccer, Breaking the Lines and SB Nation and answers all of the my texts. His name is Christian Candler and you can find him @_candler on Twitter. We discussed the Huddersfield match, which might possibly be the best 0-0 you’ve seen in some time. We also discuss the players we think will be here at the end of the transfer market, the international break, and talk about animals, Emma Watson and more.   I was also joined by Harry Holder, @harryhsfc on Twitter. We talked about the Wolves match and our disappointing exit in our first test in the EFL Cup. Harry writes for @TheSaintsReport and was gracious enough to come on the show semi-last minute to fill me/you/us in on the match.   As always, the guests make the show, and both Christian and Harry are great. Be sure to give them a follow and read their stuff.   The two articles discussed in this episode are lin

  • Ep. 33- A Gift from Fonte, with Luke Osman

    22/08/2017 Duración: 01h38s

Luke Osman (@LukeOsmanRS on Twitter) joined me again this week to discuss all that’s going on with the Southampton Football club, from the sale of the club and our 3-2 win against West Ham and Jose Fonte, to our dealings in the transfer window. We even took some listener questions. You can find Luke’s work across the @TheReadNetwork, but mostly@ReadSouthampton. Other links for Luke include @YahooSportUK, @MirrorFootball and @FreshPressUK. Be sure to give those accounts a follow and check them out. There are two new ways to enjoy the show. • Ep. 32- Saints News from a Different Point of View

    15/08/2017 Duración: 59min

My guest this week is Jack from Saints News and Views, on Twitter @SaintsfcViews. Jack has been running the account since its creation in November of 2012. Jack and talked about numerous aspects of the team, from our performance in the season opener against Swansea City, to our needs, wants, and desires in the transfer window. We also took some listener questions (thank you all, by the way) and, after all was said and done (even though I’m not sure all was actually said), after we called it a day and I edited and got the podcast ready for distribution… KL sold the club, we made a signing, and a bunch of other stuff happened… oh well!   I’d like to thank Jack for taking the time to chat with me and share his news and views on all things Saints FC. I really enjoyed and I hope you do too!   Don’t forget to like, subscribe, follow, review, rate, hope, pray and hit the target… or something.   There are current/new(ish) Saints’ Podcasts for you to listen to… give them a follow and try them out! • Ep. 31- Ewan Campbell is a Saint

    08/08/2017 Duración: 53min

My guest this week is Ewan Campbell, on Twitter @EwanCampbell1NI. I first saw him/heard him on @TheUglyInside’s year-end season review last year. Since then we’ve been working to try and find a time to get him on the podcast. He put up with a ton of crap from me, from audio issues to my general lack of any ability to actually host a podcast...Anyway, Ewan deserves a lot of credit for this episode and I promise that next time he is on I will do better. I really enjoyed our chat about the team, VVD, pre-season and the board, and I hope you do as well.   There are current/new(ish) Saints’ Podcasts for you to listen to… give them a follow and try them out! • Ep. 30- A Chocolate Chat with The Archers Road End

    01/08/2017 Duración: 56min

This week I had the opportunity to speak with Ben Hernandez-Stroud who owns and writes The Archers Road End blog, which you can also find on Twitter (@ArchersRoadEnd), and Facebook (facebook.com/archersroadend/). Ben works in social media, lives in London, and has been a fan of the Southampton Football club since childhood. Ben’s blog is a bit different than some in that it isn’t updated with every rumor or even with each passing week. He takes on large swaths of time with each post, which means he has to balance length and detail with readability. Something he does with great deftness, in my opinion. I encourage you to give him a follow and give his writing a read each time it comes out. On this episode Ben and I discuss Ben’s history with the club, his blog, the questions surrounding Southampton’s potential ownership sale, the current transfer window, the match against St. Etienne and more.   There are two new ways to enjoy the show. You can now listen to the most recent episodes on Soundcloud and You

  • EP. 29- A Nigerian Saint: My Conversation with Tayo Adetoye

    25/07/2017 Duración: 44min

I spoke with Tayo Adetoye in mid-June, right around the time Claude Pue was released. When we spoke, I was most interested in his story and experience. I wanted to know more about how he became a fan of the Southampton Football Club, what drew him to pick the Saints over all of the other possibilities in World Football. What became clear as we spoke was Tayo’s passion for the club. I hope you enjoy the interview, and I hope that in this time of relative uncertainty with our captain, the board, and so on, you can take some solace in knowing that we, as fans, can support one another, and that we can share in Tayo’s passion for the club.   Give Tayo a follow on Twitter @SaintsTayo and Facebook   Next week we’ll be back with @ArchersRoadEnd to talk blogs, the board, Transfers and more. Be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss out, links below.   The podcast now has a Facebook page (as do I). Be sure to like the page and follow along so you stay up-to-date with what’s going on. • Ep. 28- State of Play, A Look at the Southampton Women's Football Club

    18/07/2017 Duración: 59min

This week I had the pleasure of chatting with Lee Callender- @stateofplaylee- Assistant Manager and Goalkeeping Coach for Southampton Women’s FC @SotonWomensFC about a number of things, from his role at SWFC, their double winning season last year, Women’s football in the UK and Hampshire area, Saints FC and more. I really enjoyed the time I got to spend with Lee via Skype and hope you enjoy the conversation as well. If you are interested in sponsoring a player, coach, or the club, please use the team website (link below) to contact them!   Links for the Southampton Women’s Football Club: Twitter- @SotonWomensFC Instagram- https://www.instagram.com/sotonwomensfc/ Facebook- https://www.facebook.com/SouthamptonWomensFC/ Snapchat- https://www.snapchat.com/add/sotonwomensfc Website- https://www.southamptonwfc.co.uk/ YouTube- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3pBlzfme5_LZFVgsVhiRGg   Also, there is a new podcast about Saints FC, co-hosted by James George and Marc Higgins. • Ep. 27- Mental Health in Sport, with Kiko Rodriguez

    11/07/2017 Duración: 30min

This week’s show is a bit different. There is no talk of tactics, formations, or transfers. Instead I had the opportunity to speak with Kiko Rodriguez, @KikoRod9, who is, among other things, a founding member of @DRNSport (he also happens to be JRod’s dad, so, yeah). In light of the article on Steven Caulker a few weeks ago, Kiko and I spoke about mental health, mostly about how it is viewed in sport, specifically football, and how our battles with depression impacted our lives. I also asked a bit about JRod, but that’s not the focus of the episode.   If you are looking for a more football/Saints focused episode, we’ll have that next week (or last week, if you missed it). There wasn’t much happening this week, and some things are just bigger than what goes on inside the lines or on the training ground. I hope you understand.   Resources and Links for Mental Health NHS Depression Description and Resources- UK NHS Depression Services Locator- use this to locate NHS Depression Services near you.-UK Men

  • Ep. 26- New Coach, New Signing and a Fresh(Look at)Saints

    04/07/2017 Duración: 01h05min

This week I had the opportunity to again speak with Aidan Small of Fresh Saints, you can find him online at @MrAidanSmall, @FreshSaints or his website, freshsaints.com. We talked about the manager, the departure of JRod, the signing of Bednarek and answered some listener questions. I was also joined by Christopher Lash, on Twitter @rightbankwarsaw, to talk more about Bednarek and see what someone who lives in Poland and engages with Polish football sees and expects from him. Chris runs a website (rightbankwarsaw.com), so be sure to check it out. Also, be sure to give his podcast “Right Bank Warsaw” a listen, available on iTunes and Soundcloud. On this episode, about 38-39 minutes in, he and his co-hosts discuss Bednarek and how he fits into their team of the season. The podcast now has a Facebook page (as do I). • Ep. 25- A Real Jem, with Not the Real VVD

    27/06/2017 Duración: 58min

The mother of last week’s guest, Jamie Grant, is running the Southampton 10k and raising money for Cancer Research UK. Help Tracey get to £600! Donate to Cancer Research UK by clicking here! If every listener gave £1 we would crush the £600 goal!   This week I spoke with Jem, who’s originally from Southampton but now lives a good distance away going to college and university. I really enjoyed chatting with him a great deal and I think you’ll find our conversation interesting and informative. Jem was a fantastic guest and went along with whatever I threw his way. We talked about the manager, the Polish defender we’re rumored to be signing, the schedule and answered some listener questions as well. Hope you enjoy it and be sure to give Jem, Read Southampton, and The Saints Report a follow at the addresses below on Twitter!   Jem- @VanDxjk Read Southampton- @ReadSouthampton The Saints Report- @TheSaintsReport   *BONUS PODCAST ALERT*- I was on the @yellowcardedpod last week.
