Meeple Overboard!

2018 was simpler times. We were young, dumb, and in love. And now we're older, dumb and in love. But at least  now we've got two years of time to look back on some of these games and talk about how we feel about them now!  Check out our thoughts on Photosynthesis and Charterstone ...with a little bit of Hindsight!

Ocassionally you get to sit down with a legend like one of the great designers of the last 20 years. Rob Daviau is behind games like Risk and Pandemic Legacy, Cthulhu Death May Die, Betrayal at House on the Hill, Star Wars Qieens Gambit, and Cars 2 Operation. He's here to discuss a little about the new game from Restoration Games, Return to Dark Tower and the ridiculous process it was to make that game happen. It'll be coming to Kickstarter on January 14th, so enjoy learning about this beast of a game.

It's probably time to post up our Monthly Ketchup for November 2019!  November started with a little Disney+, and ended with a lot of Disney+.  Magically we still got some sweet sweet gaming in.  Give 'er a listen!

Dominion, the original deck building game that is over 10 years old.  Why bother reviewing it? Because old beloved games deserve attention too. Why not go into a deep dive of a game we've played for a decade. I bet we have some decent thoughts on it. Also, we watched Hobbs and Shaw without having seen all 28 prior Fast and Furious movies, so we review that too. We have probably have less insight on that, but it was a movie. Oh boy it certainly was a movie. Hope you enjoy our thoughts. 

Reviewing older games? But why? Because we're awesome, that's why! Tzolk'in the Mayan Calendar is a classic from 2012 and we discuss why we still love it and have it in our collection. Whistle Stop is a fun game from 2 years ago, and we discuss why this one isn't still in our collection. We also discuss the state of nice board game components, and why they may not exactly do it for us. Hope y'all enjoy!

Also, no spoilers, but we discuss watching the first episode of The Mandalorian, the new Star Wars show. Also, we discuss something called the Highest-Lowest scoring mechanism, also known by many as Reiner Knizia scoring. Enjoy!

Today we're joined by one of our $10/month patrons, Paul Tompkins!  He chose a Top 5 List for us to do, which maybe can be best described as "Thinkers under an Hour."  We each have 5 games which provide a lot of satisfying play which can be played in a shorter time frame than many of the heavier, fuller games we often play. Many of these are great to pull out on an evening where you want a full game feel but with a shorter time frame.

How do we feel about First Martians and Pandemic Legacy 2 years later?  How about revisiting our Top 5 Worker Placement games from then as well. In our monthly ketchups, we go over our past month. September was an awesome month of gaming, including some special games with Crystal Pisano from Board Game Blitz. We're going over classic games from Nexus Ops to newer games like Cartographers, maybe even some out of print games like Glory to Rome. There's lots we played, so strap yourselves in and enjoy us talking about pneumonia and balloon animals.

Don't get swallowed by lava! And don't let your castle get raided by orcs!  in other words, let's talk co-op games with some good themes. My First Castle Panic is a game for kids roughly 4 years old. How true is that?  Also, we review a new game currently on Kickstarter: Sub Terra II by Inside the Box games. Charge into a volcano to rescue priceless treasure, but careful, the temple will try to kill you before you can make it out free.. 

Welcome to Las Vegas, a city whose schools were built on your gambling losses! Thank you to everyone who pays for our textbooks. How does Las Vegas Royale fair as the newest printing of a classic game? Pretty fantastic!  You'll have to hear why.
