Meeple Overboard!

Continuing in our unneccessary and long analysis of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, we discuss the most divisive film, The Last Jedi. Yes, there's plenty to make fun of, but there's also some fantastic insights about religion and legend we discuss. Hope you enjoy.

It's time to discuss the conclusion to the entire Star Wars saga! Until they release Season 2 of the Mandalorian, and everybody forgets what happened in this movie to make Baby Yoda chicken nugget memes. But until then, this is what we have to discuss, so let's do it. The final, epic, and long conclusion to our review of the Star Wars sequel trilogy. At least thankfully all our reviews of the three movies were shorter than The Rise of Skywalker.

Chris and Wendy sit down to discuss an upcoming game called Studies in Sorcery, or Degrees in Darkness as it was titled when we did our interview, soon to be kickstarted by Weird Giraffe Games. Chris Glein, the designer and artist, gives us a pleasant interview and teaches us about the Winston Draft used in his game. Enjoy!

Chris and Wendy review two very different games, Tybor the Builder, which we forgot to say, is a drafting game that works perfectly well for two players. But what else do the we think of this amazing game? You'll have to find out why we think it's amazing!  And we also review Star Wars Imperial Assault, as we finally got to try the game. We played it in the fully cooperative version using the Legends of the Alliance app which runs the Empire for you. It was played with our 5 year old daughter, so it is a pretty family friendly game.

Chris and Wendy give a shout out to Timm Metivier from Meepleville, Las Vegas' best board game cafe and talk about his goings on in the world of board game media now! And then we review Phil Walker-Harding and Matthew Dunstan's Adventure Games: The Dungeon.

Chris and Wendy review two VERY different games this episode.  Shaky Manor, by Blue Orange Games, is an adorable little dexterity game about sliding different meeples around a little cardboard house. Chris interviews the two designers of Jiangshi: Blood in the Banquet Hall, an upcoming role-playing game about fighting Jiangshi, or Hopping Vampires, while running a Chinese restaurant in the 1920s. Chris and Wendy review a double-feature episode, both review copies sent to us: Planet by Blue Orange Games with a quirky bit of presentation, and Abandon All Artichokes by Gamewright games. Also, we take a few minutes at the start of the episode to discuss our feelings on the Black Lives Matter movement and what we commit to do as a podcast to help people who are systematically disadvantaged. It may not be a perfect message, but we're trying, and if you have something to say to us, please do, we'll listen. If you don't want to hear anything about the situation, you can deal with less than three minutes of it before we review Coimbra.

Chris and Wendy review games that we reviewed from two years ago, Topiary, Planecrafters, Go Nuts for Donuts, and Clans of Caledonia. Some of these games are still played and some haven't been played since we reviewed them. Some have donuts, some have whiskey. We're more knowledgable on donuts than we are on whiskey, so let's see if that affects our views on the games. (Not really.)

Wendy and Chris take on Cooper Island, a newer Capstone Games release by Andread "Ode" Odendahl who also designed La Granja. Come take a dive with us as we discuss this heavier, and very tight game that might not be for everybody. Also we discuss several nonsequiters along the way. It's good.

Marc from The Thoughtful Gamer podcast joins Chris today to talk about a very famed designer with a smaller yet powerful catalogue, Vital Lacerda. They have opposite opinions on games and probably get into a fight, and Chris says "ATM Machine" like a moron. It's a great episode.

Chris takes you through one of the heaviest board games apps you'll see, Through The Ages, a game about civilization, smiley faces, and having a bigger military. Hope you enjoy it!
