Q&A #252- Post Pandemic Youth, Talking God down, Unicorns and Angels and maybe more!
22/06/2022 Duración: 59minIn our 252nd episode, Doug, Blake and Kyle join as a team to discuss the following: 1. It appears that there is significant negative affect on some youth since the pandemic. Some youth who were outgoing and vibrant before have become fearful of leaving the house or encountering friends while out with family. Many have established comfort only interacting under "familiar circumstances" such as texting, while at school, etc. Can you speak to this? 2. In Exodus 32, Moses effectively "convinces" God to not smite us all by reminding God of his promises and his character...say what??? So God was angry and ready to do evil and Moses talked him out of it? My thoughts are maybe this was simply another test of Moses to see what he's learned so far OR was God truly so angry he really needed to be talked down? 3. If we could see them, what do you think the population density of angels and demons is on earth? Are they rare like unicorns or all around us and actively influencing human behavior?

Q&A #251- Sexual addiction, Pornography, Youth and gender identity, and maybe more!
15/06/2022 Duración: 59minIn our 251st episode, Doug, Blake and Kyle join as a team to discuss the following: 1. As a Christian man I’ve struggled with sexual addictions of lusting, pornography, and masturbation for about 10 years. Despite my disgust for it and my desire to repent from my sin I have failed hundreds of times. Now as a soon to be husband and a future father, I want nothing more than to be an example of a Christian man after God’s own heart. What advice do you have in helping me quit this pattern of sin? 2. Since the pandemic, there appears to be more youth (ages ~12-15) who are identifying with different genders than from birth. I support gender identification, when it's real, but I suspect there is also a "fad" underway since there have been far more incidents in the last year or two. Can you speak to this? Is there an awareness opportunity for families to ty and "get in front" of it? It's challenging for parents to be advised by their youth/child they suddenly identify differently when there have not be any outwar

Q&A #250- Biblically backed media, Sexual addiction, pornography, and more!
08/06/2022 Duración: 01h38sIn our 250th episode, Doug and Kyle join as a team to discuss the following: l. I’m a big fan of listening to podcasts and I’ve recently been exploring what Christian ones are available. However, I’m hesitant about picking one at random because I want to ensure the teachings are biblically backed. How can Christians guard themselves against false teachers and identify someone who is speaking the everlasting good news of the Gospel? As a Christian man I’ve struggled with sexual addictions of lusting, pornography, and masturbation for about 10 years. Despite my disgust for it and my desire to repent from my sin I have failed hundreds of times. Now as a soon to be husband and a future father, I want nothing more than to be an example of a Christian man after God’s own heart. What advice do you have in helping me quit this pattern of sin?

Q&A #248- Power dynamics within church relationships, sexual misconduct in the church, and more!
25/05/2022 Duración: 55min***Please note this episode discusses sensitive topics around sexual misconduct Please take care while listening***Pastors Blake, and Kyle return as a team to discuss the following: 1. With everything happening with big church Pastors being found guilty of inappropriate behavior or affairs/ some with victims who were seeking care. Obviously if two adults are consenting is one thing compared to if not, but can anyone truly be consenting in such a power dynamic? Example the situation with Bruxy. Thanks and appreciate this is a difficult one, disappointing news lately that's for sure2. Providing some backstory prior to my question. I am a married man in my 30's and have 2 children, I'm also straight, so I feel a bit out of my depth asking this one but was interested.. hope this is truly anonymous now LOL. A family member of mine recently came out as a member of the LGBTQ community. It's something we are wrestling with as we grow to accept/ support this journey. This is especially a confusing time though, as he i

Q&A #247- Church, State and Roe v. Wade, are Christians against everything, and more!
18/05/2022 Duración: 58min***Please note this episode discusses sensitive topics around women's rights, Please take care while listening*** Pastors Blake, and Kyle return as a team to discuss the following: 1. In your opinion, do you think since the 2016 election in the US they've further blurred the lines between church and state? Looking at the evangelical push if you will to abolish laws that protect human rights, how problematic is this in the grand scheme of things? If an overturning of laws like Roe V. Wade in the states can happen, doesn't this also give the ok for other countries to do the same? 2. When looking at what's happening with Women's rights in the states right now, in light of abolishing Roe v. Wade, do you feel this is now blurring the lines between church and state? 3. I struggle with being associated (as a Christian) with a movement away from love. Why is it that Christians are at the forefront of the anti-abortion movement, the anti-masking/mandate movement, the pro-nationalism movements, etc. I think I kno

Q&A #246- Words written in stone, is John the Baptist better than Jesus, Faith Healing, and more!
11/05/2022 Duración: 54minPastors Blake, and Kyle return as a team to discuss the following: 1. Jesus in Matthew 5:18 says that until the end of the the earth and heavens, none of Moses’ teachings will disappear until it has all come true. I think of his teachings as prescriptive rather than descriptive. Which of the teachings do you think Jesus is talking about? If it is the ten commandments, isn’t it strange wording to say “until it has all come true”? I am confused 2. In Matt 11:11, Jesus says that out of all the people ever born, no one is greater than John. But Jesus had been born. Is He not greater than John 3. Is there a problem with teaching on healing when we believe in faith we will be healed, claim God's promises about healing and yet it doesn't happen. I feel like I have a huge lack of faith and wonder if I got this all wrong. Thanks. Have a question you'd like to submit? Head to https://livingspringsairdrie.com/podcast

Q&A #245- Sexuality in adulthood, when ambition is lacking, and more!
04/05/2022 Duración: 54minPastors Doug, and Kyle return as a team to discuss the following: 1. I wanted to ask about sexuality in adulthood. God created us for more than just procreation, he created us for intimacy, connection and pleasure. I know the Bible speaks multiple times about sexual sins (adultery etc.) But does God say anything about the joy in our sexuality? Everything about his creation is on purpose so I'm curious what he says about pleasure in sex? I know as a female purity culture has caused so much damage and shame towards our bodies it's almost impossible to lean in to this aspect that God has created us for 2.If we are lacking in ambition to doing things for the Lord, is that because our hope is not strong? I have found (and perhaps it is in this Covid season), that I don’t do as much and in fact feel like I did more for the kingdom when the world was normal and I was busier. Have we lost some hope for the future because of the events in the world? Resources from this weeks episode: - The Great Sex Rescue by Shel

Q&A #244- Being a patriotic Christian, views on the kingdom, and more!
27/04/2022 Duración: 54minPastors Doug, Blake, and Kyle return as a team to discuss the following: 1. Re-submitting because I don’t think I submitted my original question. If I did, you can ignore this. We can agree - I think - that Christian nationalism is a slippery slope into idolatry of nation over Christ, living for freedoms granted by a government over serving those around us in Christ’s name. But is there any space for Christians to be patriots? What does that look like, if at all? Is the alternative hating the country? Or is there an in-between: like, can you simply be “apathetic” towards the nation? I don’t know if there’s a direct parallel to the earliest church because I can’t imagine many apostles being “pro-Rome”. 2. I'm reading through the Gospels and noticed that sometimes Jesus says the Kingdom of God is here (Mark 1) and sometime he says it's coming (Luke 21) and sometimes it seems like it means Heaven (John 3). Each writer seems to have their own view on the Kingdom so who is right? 3. Just read Luke 21:32“Trul

Q&A #243- Societal norms/ standards, speaking on the podcast, and more!
20/04/2022 Duración: 57minPastors Doug, Blake, and Kyle return as a team to discuss the following: *please note this episode briefly mentions sexual misconduct, please take care when listening* 1. My question...what does the Bible and subsequent literature based on scripture tell us about our roles as husband/wife, Dad/Mom, man/woman? Society has taught me somewhat poorly and my wife and I are rethinking as in some fundamental ways we can see society's teachings aren't working for couples or families 2. There’s a lot of questions about homosexuality and it’s probably because of Brock needing to step down a couple years ago. I know that we are all on our own journeys and beliefs change as we mature but it’s a bit hard hearing three straight men talk about homosexuality. Why not invite a gay person like Brock on the podcast to talk about the other side of the conversation? 3.u. I love this church, but I’ve been thinking about a lot since the news of Bruxy Cavey was released. You talk a lot about the importance of a diverse churc

Q&A #242- Biblical Law, Societal Norms, and more!
13/04/2022 Duración: 57minPastors Doug, Blake, and Kyle return as a team to discuss the following: 1. Romans 3: 27 says: : Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. Because of what law? The law that requires works? No, because of the law that requires faith.: So, which laws require works, and even more importantly, which laws outline faith? Is the latter more abstract? For example, if the law says not to lie, is it a law of works or faith? Don't all laws impinge on faith because if we don’t keep them, it is because we don’t trust God? 2. My question...what does the Bible and subsequent literature based on scripture tell us about our roles as husband/wife, Dad/Mom, man/woman? Q&A #241- Cherry picking God's word, Church hopping, and more!
06/04/2022 Duración: 58minPastors Doug, Blake, and Kyle return as a team to discuss the following: 1. Do you believe that the many different denominations and ideologies of the modern Christian church (even just Christianity) has made it too easy for people to cherry pick whatever interpretation of God's word that they see fit. 2. I've heard and seen of a lot of people "church hopping". It seems to me that if a pastor says something someone doesn't like, they use it as an opportunity to leave.. doesn't that make it almost impossible to grow and learn the way Jesus called us to? To me, when I see this happen it's almost as if the person leaving cares more about being right than trying to grow in their own theology. Thoughts on all of this? 3. Romans 3: 27 says: : Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. Because of what law? The law that requires works? No, because of the law that requires faith.: So, which laws require works, and even more importantly, which laws outline faith? Is the latter more abstract? For example, if the law

Q&A #240- Biblically permissible bedrooms, What happens underwater, and More!
30/03/2022 Duración: 53minPastors Doug, Blake, and Kyle return as a team to discuss the following: 1. Ok I’m going there! Within a monogamous marriage relationship, is there anything that is off limits sexually if both people are consenting? Not talking about anything that includes a 3rd party whatsoever (including porn). To keep the “marriage bed pure” whatever that even means lol is there anything that’s not biblically permissible!? Asking for a friend… 2. What major changes happen when you get baptized? I am a teenage boy and I do not understand why I should get baptized. Q&A #239 - Hypostatic Union, Communion, Does God Hate, and More!
23/03/2022 Duración: 56minPastors Doug, Blake, and Kyle return as a team to discuss the following: 1. Last week (maybe the week before?) there was a question around the idea that Jesus may not have been as poor as we often all assume He was. I can’t remember if this was his theory or something he read, but I believe it was Kyle who brought up the fact that there may be some credence to the wealth theory because it would have cost a lot for Jesus to be as well educated as He obviously was. Then on Sunday Doug threw out the idea that Jesus may not have known that Judas would betray Him when He chose him as a disciple. The idea that the son of God needed an education or didn’t know things is weird to me but the idea of Jesus being born as a walking/talking baby thus requiring no education is equally (if not disturbingly more) weird. I don’t know that I have a specific question but I’d love to hear each of your thoughts around the idea of the hypostatic union and what you think Jesus knew or didn’t know about the future, the world a

Q&A #238 - Neo- Nazism, Greg Locke, and more!
16/03/2022 Duración: 56minPastors Doug, Blake, and Kyle return as a team to discuss the following: 1. With neo-nazism moving into the public eye and holocaust literature being banned from certain school curriculums. What do you believe modern Christians should be doing to battle anti-semitism, not only within the world but also within their own religious communities? 2. What are your thoughts on Pastor Greg Locke holding massive book burning events? Q&A #237 - Can satan read minds, who do we pray to, what kind of Father is God and more
09/03/2022 Duración: 56minPastors Doug,, and Kyle return as a team to discuss the following: Lots of AER and some political climate talk 1. nn. Can Satan read our minds? I once heard it said that he can’t and so when we talk to him - like telling him to leave - we have to do it out loud. Is there any Biblical support for that? oo. Question about sermon on the Lord's prayer: Jesus asked us to pray to the Father. What instruction in the Bible allows us to now pray to Jesus? Thanks, and great job! pp. If God is the father that loves us all unconditionally.. how do you let that in? All i've been raised with is a parent who thrived on "conditional love" I guess i'm asking how i'm supposed to believe God loves me without conditions when that goes against my entire life experience thus far? Q&A #236- The Mail Bag and more!
02/03/2022 Duración: 55minPastors Doug, Blake, and Kyle return as a team to discuss the following: Lots of AER and some political climate talk 1. I understand why churches would need to avoid political bias but I've noticed that LS doesn't seem to pray or mention world events. Should we not be asking members to pray for the situation in the Ukraine? I don't think we even recognize something as simple as Remembrance Day any more. Is this an oversight or is it intentional? 2. What is the Christian response to the tragedy in Ukraine? I know Jesus loves Putin and that He weeps over the loss of life and suffering. How do we fight against evil and the powers and principalities when they’re embodied in human beings? 3. Referencing episode 235 from today. If temptation isn’t a sin (which I agree with) then can you explain how this truth applies to Matthew 5:28? If you’ve already committed a sin in your heart by temptation how does this work? Q&A #235- God's purpose continued, God's control, and more!
23/02/2022 Duración: 59minPastors Doug, Blake, and Kyle return as a team to discuss the following: 1. God's purpose continued 2. I often cringe when Christians say .., gods in control , he knows what's happening. Is this faith or fatalism? 3. I have to admit, first of all, that the book of James drives me crazy. I sometimes wonder why it is in the canon other than that he was Jesus’ brother, but I am trying to give it a chance right now. James 1:14 says that everyone is tempted by his own desires, but does that mean that when Jesus was tempted he was tempted by his own desires? In conjunction with this week's sermon (Jan 12), I don’t think so, but I will leave the question for you to answer, while also answering what on earth it is doing in the cannon. Thank you. Q&A #234- Finding God's purpose for me, is God actually in control, and more!
16/02/2022 Duración: 54minPastors Doug, Blake, and Kyle return as a team to discuss the following: 1. What are some practical ways I could try to figure out God's purpose for me? Or even what my passions are? I've been a life-long people pleaser and am realizing that I can't think of any passions or dreams of my own because I'm stuffed them away for so long in order to accommodate or care of those around me. I know God has a plan for my life and though I don't minimize the importance and value of taking care of the people in my life, I feel like I'm meant for something else too but have no idea what that would be or even how to start figuring it out. 2. I often cringe when Christians say .., gods in control , he knows what's happening. Is this faith or fatalism?? Have a question you'd like to submit? Head to https://livingspringsairdrie.com/podcast

Q&A #233- Simon the Pharisee, Conversion Therapy, Unity, and more
09/02/2022 Duración: 58minPastors Doug, Blake, and Kyle return as a team to discuss the following: 1. Im going to ask a question in the q+a! Just reading my Bible and discovered Simon the Pharisee and now I need to know if that's Simon Peter! Google doesn't know....well...they "know"; they just don't agree. 2. Conversion therapy has now been banned in Canada. What are your thoughts? Is this an infringement of churches rights? 3.When is “unity” not enough? At what point do we break communion with another Christian? I’m wondering because the world is so divided and I don’t want the church to be that way, but how we maintain unity when there are Christian’s who don’t value the image of God in someone else?
