  • Do Good Stuff

    13/05/2019 Duración: 47min

In this week's teaching, Josh teaches about the necessity of doing good things for our city. We don't do good stuff merely to please God, we do good things so that by our good works we create a light that draws people into the truth of the good news we proclaim and profess to believe.

  • Belonging Community

    06/05/2019 Duración: 37min

Church is not a building that we go to or an event that we attend, it is a community to whom we belong. In this week's teaching, Jeremy shows us how we've been created for community, how sin makes genuine community difficult, and what we must do to know the belonging community that Jesus has saved us to experience.

  • Making Disciples

    30/04/2019 Duración: 35min

“I will build my church..." What did Jesus mean when he said this? That is the question we’re attempting to answer as we prepare our hearts to move our services into our new home base for missions. This week, Jeremy lays the foundation for what it means for us to be the church for Waxahachie. The church is who we are and disciple-making is what we do.

  • The Death of Death and the Resurrection of the Son of Man — Daniel 12

    22/04/2019 Duración: 36min

This is our Easter message and the final teaching in our series on the book of Daniel.

  • Daniel: Living as Strangers in a Strange Land — Daniel 10

    15/04/2019 Duración: 40min

In this week's teaching, as we celebrate Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem we find an interesting connection between Daniel 10 and John 12. We discovered that one of the many things that happened as a result of the glorification of the Son of Man was that the ruler of this world was cast out and his tyranny over the nations was finally ended.

  • Daniel: Living as Strangers in a Strange Land — Daniel 9

    08/04/2019 Duración: 55min

In this week's teaching, we understand more fully the reason for Israel's deportation and how their exile in Babylon was ultimately ineffective to purge their hearts of sin. Then we look at Daniel's prayer of confession and his mediation for his people. And lastly, we consider the enigmatic 70 Weeks prophecy found in the last half of the chapter and how it points us to the coming Son of Man who will finally and ultimately put an end to Israel's rebellion by offering his life as an atonement for their sin.

  • Daniel: Living as Strangers in a Strange Land — Daniel 7:27

    25/03/2019 Duración: 45min

In this week's teaching, we had some bad news, some good news, and some new news. The bad news is that this teaching does not —contrary to what was promised in the previous week— reveal the hidden identities of the 4 kings of Daniel 7, the good news is that the Son of Man and the kingdom of heaven has finally come in Jesus and his kingdom has been shared with his people, and finally, the new news is that Soma Waxahachie has a new place to call home!

  • Daniel: Living as Strangers in a Strange Land — Daniel 7:9-18

    18/03/2019 Duración: 48min

Daniel 7 is new territory in the story that Daniel is telling. Chapter 7 through 12 is different from the chapters that have come before it. We've left the familiarity of historical-narrative and found ourselves in the odd world of apocalyptic literature. It's for that reason that we have slowed our walk through Daniel down. In this week's teaching, we look at the beastly kings of Daniel's dream, the mystery of the empty throne sitting beside the Ancient of Days, and the Son of Man who is given authority over an everlasting kingdom.

  • Daniel: Living as Strangers in a Strange Land — Daniel 7:1-15

    11/03/2019 Duración: 42min

Daniel 7 is new territory in the story that Daniel is telling. Chapter 7 through 12 is different from the chapters that have come before it. We've left the familiarity of historical-narrative and found ourselves in the odd world of apocalyptic literature. It's for that reason that we have slowed our walk through Daniel down. In this week's teaching, we consider the beasts that are presented in Daniel 7 and we look to Genesis to discover why beasts are used as a symbol in Daniel's terrifying dream. What we discover is that when we sin against God we abdicate our authority to rule as God's image over the beasts to become like beasts ourselves.

Listen along with our teaching series through the book of Daniel: Living as Strangers in a Strange Land. Join us as we follow Israel through exile. We will explore how they dealt with life as a minority culture, fighting to maintain faithfulness to God despite opposition and assimilation. In this week's teaching, Josh discusses how knowing our story and the identity that our story provides us gives us what we need for life-long obedience in exile. Daniel knew his history and it kept him faithful. He knew his future and it gave him boldness. And as we come to find that Daniel's future is now our past, we have all that we need for faithful obedience and bold witness in our present.

  • From Advent to Adventure

    07/01/2019 Duración: 56min

This is the fifth and final message in our Advent series for 2018. This year we are allowing Jesus to tell us why he came. Then we are taking what he tells us and connecting it back to the tapestry of the Old Testament that provides the backdrop for his arrival and ministry.   In this teaching, we look at Acts 1, where we have the promise that Jesus will come again. We talk about what it looks like for us to wait upon his return. We find out that Jesus is the true and better Joshua who will lead his people to a certain victory. And, as his kingdom people, we discover that we are participating with him in his global gospel conquest.   Finally, there are some announcements about the direction of Soma for 2019.
