The 2014/15 NHL Regular Season is finally here!  Sheila, Dave, Geeta and Ryan all get together to run down the 30 teams in the NHL based on Rogers Sportsnet's official rankings, and although we don't agree with all of them, it gives a fairly accurate run down of where each team lies this upcoming season. We talk about the teams we like: Tampa Bay, Montreal, Chicago, Detroit, Vancouver.And the team that only looks good on paper: The Minnesota Wild. We finish off the podcast with our official Stanley Cup predictions, the great state of Florida is represented nicely!  A very fun podcast this week! Enjoy!

We've had enough of the pre-season, lets just start the regular season already. Ryan, Paul, Geeta (recovering from a cold) and the PON studio audience get together to watch a snoozer of a Canucks/Coyotes pre-season game and take the Province Sports' quiz "How prepared are you for the 2014-15 NHL season?" and keep coming back to Joe Thornton's four goal celebration and Ryan Smyth's teary farewell. None the less, Paul and Ryan test their knowledge and see just how ready they are for the upcoming season. Just in time for the NHL pre-season, Ryan, Dave & Paul run down the coaching controversies, secret injuries and professional try outs that are running rampant in the NHL right now. The guys spend a great deal of time talking about Phil Kessel's relationship with the coaching staff in Toronto and just what kind of player he is, and whether that is what the Leafs want at this point in time! They take a call from Jim Rutherford, talk Teemu, Ryan Johansen and take a look at what the Ottawa Senators are doing this upcoming season to drum up fan interest. Enjoy! And we're back! Fresh off our summer break, Ryan, Geeta and Dave are back and sit down and get ready for the NHL pre-season which is fast approaching. They cover the Montreal Canadiens' captain vacancy and take a call from Penguins' GM Ol Jim Rutherford, who fills us in with the hockey happenings in Steel Town! But the majority of this week's episode is spent covering Mike Gillis' tenure as General Manager of the Vancouver Canucks. From his trades, draft picks, free agent signings, along with his attitude and direction he took the team in, we break down is five years running the Vancouver Canucks. We interrupt our summer hiatus for a fun episode.  Ryan, Dave and Geeta sit down this week and discuss what some of us may have forgotten this summer in terms of trades and UFA signings. Ryan asks the question if Winnipeg and Ottawa are the first teams to begin tanking for Connor McDavid who's projected to go 1st overall in next years draft. Then, we dust off the VCR and break out Geeta's old hockey tapes. Ranging from the 2000 NHL Entry Draft in Calgary, the 2002 and 2003 World Junior Hockey Championships and a Coach's Corner from the 2001 Stanley Cup Finals which looks at the upcoming NHL Draft Class, including Jason Spezza, Dan Hamhuis and more. Summer's here and we're taking a few months off so we got the entire Pucks on net family together to wrap up the season, the free agent frenzy and what's in store for the Canucks in the summer. Radim Vbrata and Ryan Miller are headed to Vancouver, we discuss the terms of the deals and what they mean for the more or less rebuilding Canucks. We discuss some other free agent signings and take a call from Jim Rutherford, Pittsburgh Penguins' general manager. The gang look back at the rough Canucks season and predict where some not yet signed Free Agents could be headed. Abbotsford boy Jake Virtanen gets drafted to the hometown team on one of the busiest days in recent Canucks History. Ryan Kesler gets dealt to the Ducks in what we discuss as a fairy solid and fair deal for the Canucks, given the circumstances. This was recorded live during the 2014 NHL Entry Draft in Philadelphia, as per usual, the draft tended to get mighty boring around the 10th pick. We chime in on the events during the draft, the two players the Canucks drafted and a call from Old Man Jim Rutherford to discuss his coaching hire and the draft day trade of James Neal, and touch on the controversial Josh Ho-Sang getting drafted the New York Islanders. Darryl Sutter goes shirtless at the LA Kings Stanley Cup parade. The Vancouver Canucks don't even have a coach who can take his shirt off yet! There are still a lot of loose ends to take care of in Vancouver this off season. Will they hire Mike Keenan? They really really really really should... Geeta, Paul and Ryan discuss a wide array of topics. From the remaining candidates for the vacant coaching jobs around the league to the Canucks' possible moves on draft day. They share their favourite moments and storylines from the Stanley Cup Playoffs and have a visit from Old Man Rutherford to discuss the summer for the Penguins. Enjoy!

Geeta, Paul and Ryan gather to discuss the lackluster Stanley Cup Final and the poor showing from the AV led New York Rangers. We discuss the similarities in problems the Rangers and Canucks faced being coached by AV. There is a lot of excitement on this podcast looking forward to the Canuck summer once again, and the possibility of getting local boy Sam Reinhart in the draft. They look at old man Jim Rutherford as the new General Manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins and ask if they can get back to the glory days of the late 2000's. Enjoy!

The New York Rangers are going to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in 20 years when they broke the hearts of Vancouver Canucks fans. Now, they've rallied around Marty St. Louis to lead their captainless team to the Finals. Ryan and a returning Dave spend a while talking about the loveable New York Rangers, the coachless Vancouver Canucks and the hopeless Pittsburgh Penguins. Ryan shares his favourite mascots in sports, and they talk about the Seattle Mariners glory years of the mid 90's.  They also revist Stanley Cup predictions from Episode #3 and only Ryan is still in good shape with the Blackhawks forcing a game 7 in the Western Conference Championship. Dustin Tokarski is riding high as the Montreal Canadiens starter but a lot of hockey fans are wondering, what about Peter Budaj?  Ryan, Geeta and P Mac on the Street are on this week to talk all about the 3rd round of the NHL Playoffs. Paul tells an amazing story about an encounter with Johan Hedberg, someone who felt the same fate as Peter Budaj ten years ago while playing for the Vancouver Canucks. Ryan Miller appears to be homeless right now, with not a lot of interest in his goaltending abilities. Is this a sign of the times? Where will he wind up? They discuss the worst kept secret in hockey, Jim Benning finally being announced as the new General Manager of the Vancouver Canucks and touch on who could be the next head coach? Milan Lucic has some plans for Dale Weise next year, but in the mean time, he's got a lot of free time due to the Boston Bruins being eleminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs by the hands of the Montreal Canadiens. Ryan and P Mac on the Street discuss Milan Lucic's fall from grace and his actions following the Bruins' game 7 loss to Montreal. They bring in a character witness to defend Milan in Errol aka The Biscuit, but unfortunately, he just tells two stories of running into Lucic in and around Vancouver over the years. They also touch on Anaheim Ducks' goalie sensation John Gibson, just how likeable Dale Weise is and the new information released about just how bad John Tortorella's season in Vancouver really was. Ryan Miller's contract year turned into a contract period. The St. Louis Blues are out and the gang is not surprised. Deep in the heart of the 1st round of the playoffs, Dave, Geeta and Ryan look towards round 2 and in particular, the age old rivalry of Montreal and Boston. Pacioretty is out for revenge and the hard skating Canadiens and the hard hitting Bruins are shaping up for a classic! The gang gives predictions for the rest of the playoffs and discusses if the era of the franchise goalie is over. Geeta and Ryan make a wager on a potential game seven between Los Angeles and San Jose. Enjoy!

Its the first week of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and the gang is fired up for the Columbus Blue Jackets! After tieing up the series with the Penguins, people are starting to take notice to the hard working blue collar team made up of Kings and Rangers rejects. Geeta, Dave and Ryan discuss their dislike of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Sidney Crosby's Team Canada, pointless hockey tournaments and a look at the exciting initial games of the 2014 NHL Playoffs  And what happened to Simone Gange? The Vancouver Canucks name Trevor Linden president of the team and the black clouds over Rogers Arena are instantly replaced with glowing optimism. Ryan, Dave and P Mac get together all fired up for the mean nothing games that always fill the final weekend of the NHL regular season and the upcoming NHL Playoffs. This week's podcast starts with Stu Walters interviewing Portland Winterhawks' Brendan Leipsic about his second period power play goal. They also discuss some scary rough stuff at the end of the Victoria Royals / Portland Winterhawks second round WHL Playoff series that saw Portland's Nic Petan and Victoria's Joe Hicketts knocked out on the ice.  A lot of the podcast is discussing just what Trevor Linden as president can mean for the team and the fans and who could stay and could go regarding the coaching staff. They also rattle off their picks for the first round of the playoffs if they started today, and if the series wind up the way they are, Ryan has promised to make a big bet on the Columbus Blue

The Ottawa Senators were on the wrong side of history on March 15th. No other team ever gave up three goals in the final minute and lost. Dave, Geeta and Ryan sit and talk about the big win for the Montreal Canadiens with a table full of candy. Koala Cups, sour soothers, Junior Mints and Big League Chew, you name it, it was consumed on this week's podcast. In the hours following the Roberto Luongo vs. Eddie Lack shootout dual, the gang discusses the week that was with the Canucks and their troubles to keep momentum towards the end of the season. They talk about the Portland Winterhawks and the success they're expected to have going into the first round of the playoffs against the Vancouver Giants. Ryan discusses his love for the Victoria Royals organzation and how important an accessible team store is to a WHL franchise. The NHL Trade Deadline is over. Ryan and Paul get together to talk about the trades that happened (Roberto Luongo) and the trades that didn't happen (Ryan Kesler). They go over Roberto Luongo's time in Vancouver and take a look at the other deals made around the NHL.
