04/04/2023 Duración: 53minBack in the day, Phil was a wildland firefighter in the Rocky Mountains, but after a major back injury, he moved back to where he grew up to plant his roots. Fast forward 20 years and Phill has been a passionate sales leader of teams of up to 600 people. Simultaneously, he has also been an athlete this whole time, most recently stepping up his running to multiple marathons a year. However, in early 2022 after a visit to the doctor he was forced to put his years of training and motivation into place personally when he faced the biggest fight of his life: cancer. Today we’re sitting down with Phil to hear how this diagnosis changed him, his mindset on adventure, goals, fatherhood, etc. It’s probably not what you expect. 27/03/2023 Duración: 54minMelanie Curtis is a professional skydiver who led a group of 80 women skydivers from 22 countries to make history by setting a new world record: the largest all-women head-down (“vertical”) skydive. Named Project 19 after the 19th Amendment that gave women the right to vote, the spectacle celebrated women’s rights and highlighted women’s issues.Though they aimed for a record of 100, this fantastic team still got it done (breaking the 2016 record of 65). They took 29 jumps in total, including practice and warm-ups. The ladies pulled off the only successful skydiving world record this year; there were two others mixed men/women.Melanie has completed over 12,000 jumps to date and is a sought-after speaker and consultant. 13/03/2023 Duración: 57minIn 2018 Dorien Cramer cycled solo from Singapore back to her home in the Netherlands. She had no plan of where to go and how long she would be on the road. Only that she wanted to explore and see how and where other people live.With a tent and a stove in her panniers, she had everything she needed to go wherever she wanted. In China she reached the highest point of her trip on 4,807 meters altitude. There were also lows. In Malaysia she witnessed the logging of rainforest and in Kazakhstan she ate horse brain at a wedding reception. Sometimes her experiences were so difficult she thought of giving up and taking a train back home. However, she managed to continue and after 15 months and 20,477km, she reached the doorstep of her parents house on Christmas Eve. The 1897 journey was dubbed “The Great Experiment” in national newspapers that cared to pay attention to the 41-day adventure, which crossed through some of the harshest conditions and terrain in the American West, spanning Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Missouri. To celebrate the 125th anniversary of this experiment and to start a movement to identify these brave men and bicycle travel pioneers, in 2022, Erick Cedeño, aka the Bicycle Nomad, retraced the route and history of the All-Black, bicycle-mounted 25th Infantry. Below are our application requirements:Although we fully believe in the power of adventure for the sake of adventure, through this grant we're looking to fund adventures that incorporate some sort of 'for the greater good' component. Perhaps you're raising money for a cause you care about, like conservation or hunger, or maybe you're bringing people with you who wouldn't otherwise get the chance.
