  • Ep. 939: The Sharp End of Life and Raising Alex Honnold - Revisited - Dierdre Wolownick

    08/06/2023 Duración: 59min

Originally aired April 26, 2019Long before her son was doing some of the most incredible climbing in the world and her daughter was solo bike touring around the west, Dierdre was living a life full of adventure. From moving to different countries and starting orchestras from scratch to raising two kids by herself and working much more than fulltime, Dierdre enjoyed taking on out-of-the-box challenges and seeing what she’s made of. Never to be one to think of age as a limitation, Dierdre started running at the age of 55 and began climbing at 58.  Within a few years, she was running marathons and by 66 she became the oldest woman to climb El Capitan, the same rock that her son, Alex, would free solo. It’s evident in both her children that they were raised by someone with lots of room to live outside the box. We hope you enjoy this conversation. @dierdre_wolownick_honnold Her book: sharpendoflife.com https://www.facebook.com/DierdreWolownick Dierdrew.usSponsor messages:Outdoor VitalsCheck out the high-quality ge

  • Ep. 935: World Record Highlining - Revisited - Ari DeLashmutt

    25/05/2023 Duración: 01h02min

Originally aired April 27th, 2020The world of highlining is often misunderstood as simply walking from one point to another across a thin webbing hundreds of feet in the air. While it is that, it’s so much more. Ari does an amazing job illustrating, even for the totally unfamiliar, the thrill, focus, and adventure of being out there on the line. Most of the episode revolves around him and his friend’s ridiculous accomplishment of highlinging 2 km across an abandoned asbestos mine in (appropriately enough) Asbestos, Quebec. The project was huge, ludicrous, and completely awesome. Enjoy. Video on the project: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5W2ya3oLHaYInstagram: @ariintheairHis collaboration with KEEN Footwear: www.keenfootwear.com/ambassadors/blog-article-18043.htmlPersonal website: ariintheair.comPodcast: ariintheair.com/podcastSponsor Messages:Outdoor VitalsCheck out the high-quality gear from Outdoor Vitals that Mason knows and trusts at outdoorvitals.comRelion BatteriesPlan your next adventure with Outlaw
