Romans 13:1-2, these are verses about the government that I don’t think I’ve ever heard referenced, preached or taught. Listen to this before you put up that meme making fun of a government official.

Romans 12:1-2, Paul teaches us that we need to offer ourselves as a living sacrifice to God. That means we are giving God control, and that is something that many of us are unwilling to do. Until we accept that calling, we will never be where God wants us to be.

John 21:20-22, in these verses, Peter learns a valuable lesson, not to be overcome with wanting to know what others are doing.

John 19:38-42, these verses introduce us to Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus. Both, I believe, were disciples of Jesus, even though they may not have been public about it. These men prepared Jesus for His burial, while His disciples forsook Jesus and fled. How do you respond when things you don’t expect to happen-happen?

John 17:20-26. In these verses, Jesus is praying for the church, He is praying for us today. In this prayer, He is asking for 5 specific things. Are these things found in church today?

John 13:6-9, Jesus is teaching an important lesson in these verses, a lesson in being a servant. Are you ready to be a servant?

Luke 24:11, 1 Corinthians 1:18, 22-24.

Luke 18:35-43, We see in these verses that healing comes by this. Blind Bartimeus got his healing because he wouldn’t let the tide of public opinion change his calling out to Jesus. Because of this, he got his healing. What is this? Listen to todays episode.

Luke 13:1-9 Jesus is teaching the importance of repentance in our lives. Unless we repent of our sins, we will perish. Plain and simple.

Luke 7:18-24, in todays Bible reading, we see where John the Baptist, while in prison, sent two of his disciples to Jesus to find out if Jesus is indeed the Messiah, or if they should watch for another. Think of the magnitude of that question. We see in the Gospels the strong faith of John the Baptist as he preached repentance, as he boldly proclaimed Jesus as the Messiah. And now, while in prison, he may have faltered in that faith a little bit. Don’t let your faith slip because you are going through a time of trial.

Luke 4:13, we learn in this verse that after the time of tempting Jesus was over, the devil left him alone for a season. Trials and temptations only last a season, and we must be ready to go through them so we develop a strong, steadfast faith in God. We also learn some valuable principles to help make it though our seasons of temptation.

Luke 2:49, we see Jesus telling His parents that He must be about His Fathers business. In other words, Jesus is saying that He must do the things that God called Him to do. The fact is that you and I both need to be about the business of God. What has God called you to do today?

Mark 14:32-42, Jesus catches His disciples sleeping 3 times in these verses. While we might be quick to condemn them for that act, we are, in fact, no better than they are. It’s time we get serious about our faith, get serious about reading the Bible, get serious about prayer and get serious about witnessing.

Mark 12:41-44, we see the story of the widow and her mite. In this account, Jesus is sitting by the treasury watching as people were putting money into the church. Many came putting in large sums of money, then a widow came with her few pennies. Jesus made a statement about the giving He saw that will probably shock us. Find out what we need to learn about this account.

Mark 3:1-6, here we see Jesus challenging the Pharisees about what is right. As Jesus was teaching in the synagogue, a man with a withered hand was present. Jesus was going to heal that man, but challenged the Pharisees if it is right to do good or evil on the Sabbath. Jesus was angered at the hard hearts displayed by the religious leaders. Why? Because they focused on the outward appearance. They liked the places of prominence, they liked to “show” their religion, but in reality, their hearts were far from the Lord. Where are you focused on, looking the part, or being right where God wants you to be?

Matthew 28:11-15, these verses teach us about faith. Specifically, not to allow the lack of others peoples faith affect your faith. In the verses I read, we see the religious leaders bribing the guards at the tomb to tell people that the disciples stole the body of Jesus. What hogwash. Yet, an entire nation believes that story.

Matthew 25:1-13, These verses teaches us about 5 people who were ready, and 5 people who were not at the coming of the bridegroom. Of course, this is a picture of the return of Jesus. Are you ready? Looking at Matthew 24, we see where Jesus tells us what is going to come at the end times, and we can see much of it happening now. Are you prepared?

Matthew 24:32-42, In these verses we see the importance of watching and being ready for the end times, for the rapture and for the second coming of Jesus.

Matthew 9:9-13, we see here the calling of Matthew as a disciple. We also see Jesus teaching an important lesson. We are called to repentance, meaning we are called to ask forgiveness of our sins, then turn and walk in a different way than before. Many times, we seek forgiveness without leaving our sins behind. Is there a change in your life and how you live it compared to your life before Christ?
