In which, Tracy and staff writer Kurt Klein watch three SciFi movies and discuss how they are similar to other, more famous SciFi entertainment. Kurt reveals that he has watched Space Balls over 400 times, and Tracy discovers that it is possible to play six degrees to Alien with almost anything.

In which, Tracy and Andrew decide to bet on who can most accurately predict the Oscar winners this year. Tracy gets excited and forgets lots of actor names (Jodie Foster is the actress that people like to pretend is a man, by the way). Andrew gets sidetracked by the idea of Tangerines in Estonia. Yes, he did get his orange after the show.

Upon the 17th day of January in the Year of Our Lord 2015, Andrew availed himself of his gallant, mechanical steed of Japanese engineering and hied him to Marscon of legend. Quoth he, “I shall take upon myself to speak to comedy rock star Mikey Mason.” Tracy was sick. In this podcast episode, Mikey reveals his RPG player voice, takes on the persona of “Pedantic Man,” and gives a fantastic feminist rant about strip clubs (it’s not what you’re thinking!). Yeah… that’s just a teensy bit of the hilarity that ensues. Trust me.

In which, Andrew and Tracy ask Eryk Donovan to reprise his guest appearance from Tidewater Comicon. We discuss his work with creator owned material and with Boom! Studios, as well as delving into the differences between digital art and analog art and find out a little bit more about just how important inkers are in the world of comic creation.

In which, Tracy and Andrew talk about the WHOLE year in geekdom. Yes. The whole year. Also, we are joined by Kurt Klein, one of our new staff members. Tracy reveals her favorite numbers, and Andrew (for the first time!) avoids telling an offensive joke.

In which, a third member of the cast and crew of Game Companion, Hannah Ryan, discusses being a strong woman, typecasting, and how working on a project she loved helped her solidify her dream of writing and acting in her own project. Andrew asks insightful questions, and Tracy gets very excited.

In which, Tracy and Andrew chat with Brian and Gord, the director and one of the actors of Game Companion, a short film about a couple of middle-aged gamers who are completely surprised to find that the reward for achieving master level in their fighter-style video game is a live “game companion.”

In which, the author of A Once Crowded Sky, and current writer on one of DC Comics’ best received current books, Tom King, shares insights on his creative genius and writing process with Andrew and Tracy. We discuss comic book tropes, the philosophy of a universe in which “everyone comes back,” and why Dick Grayson is not Batman.

**** SPOILER ALERT ***** In which, Andrew has a conversation with Santana Perez and Andrew Piovane about the hottest comics on the shelves this fall. Of course, Death of Wolverine is the big one, but there is a lot that is happening in the comic book world. There is also a discussion of up-coming comic book movies–especially Marvel’s Age of Ultron. As always, hilarity ensues.

In which, Therefore I Geek goes to comicon. Lots of people stop by our booth and chat with us, including some really amazing artists, cosplayers, and some man-on-the-street conversations. Thanks to everyone who stopped by, this was one of our funnest and most interesting podcasts yet!!

In which Andrew and Tracy chat with Sam Ellis, illustrator on Frisky Dingo, lead illustrator and character designer for Archer, and most recently, writer and illustrator for Adventure Time #31, at Borderless Comics. Sam gives us some great insight into the comics and cartoon industry and tells some really interesting stories. He also makes odd mouth noises.

***** SPOILER ALERT ***** In which, Mike Federali joins Andrew and Tracy once again to discuss the world of geekdom and let us in on the latest gossip from Tidewater Comicon. We settle on the best idea for a Guardians of the Galaxy based breakfast cereal, and Mike brilliantly predicts the next placeholder for Wolverine in the Wolverine and the X-men title (which was announced the next day). He also reads everyone’s minds.

In which, Andrew and Tracy sit down with Sarah Wilde to discuss the girl who is arguably the most influential female figure in geek fandom in the past twenty years. I say “sit down” because Andrew doesn’t get many words in edgewise. From the “Spike or Angel” question, to complex plot twists and the universality of the growing up experience portrayed in the show, Sarah and Tracy cover most of it. (Let’s be honest, we can talk about Buffy for MUCH longer than this!)

In which, Andrew and Tracy have a surprisingly broad-ranging conversation with Shane McNulty, organizer of Norfolk, VA’s Can’t Stop the Serenity event, “Big Damn Shindig.” We discuss why geeks should be involved with charities, what’s so great about Equality Now and the local Samaritan House and Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia, and the effect of bullying within the geek community. That’s all on top of discussing Firefly, the greatest Joss Whedon fanboy moment that never happened, and how to put on a Browncoat event, as well as how much easier events are with entertainers like Mikey Mason.

***** SPOILER ALERT ***** In which, Andrew and Tracy are joined by Santana Perez and Anthony Mazzola to talk about the hottest new releases this summer. Our heroes cover everything from the Marvel summer event, Original Sin, to the latest Image comics, such as Mark Millar’s MPH, as well as writing styles, complex characters, and favorite art. Santana and Mazz say funny things, and Tracy laughs a lot.

***** SPOILER ALERT ***** In which, Andrew and Tracy chat about a book we both just read. There is a lot of rambling, some discussion of the word “meta” and the redundancy in Urban Dictionary, a description of a man in a crate without his pants, and some spoilers about the plot of the book. All in all, a normal Tuesday evening.

In which, Andrew and Tracy got the opportunity to talk to the brains behind Tidewater Comicon. Mike Federali, the convention’s organizer, shared how he got started with conventions and what inspired him to create a brand new convention for the Hampton Roads area. We also talked about the first TWCC event in April of this year, and how the turnout was way more than anyone expected, as well as Mike’s plans for the future of the convention.

In which, we discuss everyone’s favorite space western show, canceled too early by Fox–Firefly! Just in time for the Hampton Roads Can’t Stop the Serenity event this Saturday, we compare favorite characters, plot lines, brilliant moments, Joss Whedon’s writing, Dollhouse, Nathan Fillion’s ass, and anything else that we liked about the show.
