Therefore I Geek

In which Dude and Andrew indulge in some the awesome action flicks that are John Wick and John Wick: Chapter 2. This marks the second week in a row that the Therefore I Geek team has agreed on a movie and therefore you should all be scared for your lives. The world is probably ending. Seriously... P.S. DC next Batman film is probably in deep trouble.

The Therefore I Geek team talks The Lego Batman Movie. Everyone enjoyed themselves and recognizes that this movie is basically every Batman joke you ever thought up as a kid, compressed into a 2 hours movie with better writing.

In which, Andrew and Dude break down the 1982 Conan the Barbarian, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Dude broaches the "Jean Valjean theory of slavery," the guys agree that this is not James Earl Jones's greatest performance, and we learn that Gerry Lopez, who plays Subotai, is actually in this movie because he was the director's surfing buddy.

In which, our heroes record their 100th episode and do their annual criticism of the Oscar nominees. We also discuss quite a bit of current events, especially the recent passing of John Hurt.

In which, Tracy and Kurt take a weekend to watch Kurt Russell movies and then sit down to discuss. They cover the two Escape moves, Big Trouble in Little China, and then go way off track in their discussion of The Hateful Eight. Also, we learn that Tracy REALLY dislikes Tarantino movies.

In which, Andrew and Becky Hales discuss the new Hidden Figures movie, the role of NASA Langley in the early space program, the difficulties of being a woman in a man's world (and how much worse it must be for a black woman during the Civil Rights Era), and the nuances that make a film like this so fun to watch.

In which, Andrew, Dude, and Tracy sit down to talk about the news of the day and then discuss why people go (or don't go) to the movies these days. We also talk about geek conventions that didn't go as planned, the latest development in the ongoing Star Trek fan film Axanar, and what the Star Wars creative team is doing about Princess Leia in the wake of Carrie Fisher's passing before diving into the topic of the day.

In which, our three heroes discuss their resolutions for the 2017 new year, Dude explains what Tracy's ultimate coup would look like, and Andrew discusses his deep fear of needles. Also, Dude tells the story of how he was incrementally banned from a radio show,and in a surprising twist, ends our podcast episode on a very positive note.

In which, Andrew and the Dude (aka the Ghost of Christmas Movies) discuss Carrie Fisher's heart attack, Martin Scorsese's declaration that cinema is dead, and then break down the latest attempt at a video game movie: Assassin's Creed.

In which, Andrew and Dude start their conversation ostensibly talking about Death of Superman Lives, but devolve into a humorous conversation. An authentic peek into the lives of college roommates a decade later.

In which, Darrell Taylor, from the Taylor Network of Podcasts, joins Tracy and Dude to talk about the first nine episodes of the hit HBO show Westworld, and they then pivot into a conversation about the philosophy of AI, the desire of humanity to create intelligence in their own image, and the western paranoia about that exact desire.

In which, Andrew and Dude discuss the misadventures of a group of anime bounty hunters from the late 1990's. They talk about why they both think YOU should watch it, based on the quality of the show itself, the way the characters are very realistic and yet remain somewhat shrouded in mystery throughout the show, and the variety and scope of the backdrops as the characters visit myriad planets.

In which, Andrew, Tracy, and Kurt discuss the history and development of role playing games (RPGs) just in time for the release of Final Fantasy XV. The boys discover a similar personal history in their shared love of the genre.

In which our hosts talk about their favorite holiday movies. From classics to some that are less than classic, we take a trip down the holiday memory lane. Oh, did we forget to mention that we spend the first 20 minutes talking about SEX?

In which, Andrew and Tracy have a conversation with David Gallaher, Harvey nominee and the writer on Green Lantern Convergence, as well as Papercutz comic The Only Living Boy. An avid comic fan since nearly infancy, Gallaher uses his storytelling skills as a role playing GM as well as a writer. Also in this episode, Andrew gets a comprehensive synopsis of the Convergence concept from Gallaher, and Tracy overuses the word "brilliant."
