Volunteering with the British Red Cross ‘Independent Living’ project, she sees people’s independence grow, for example, after coming home from hospital. Argent agreed to provide only 40% of its housing as social housing when it signed the planning agreement in 2006, rather than the London target of 50%. That came to 750 of 2,000. With properties selling for an average of upwards of £1 million each, Argent now wants to back out after it has delivered only 650 of the agreed homes. People have taken to leaving messages on Argent’s Facebook in protest and over 11 thousand have signed on online petition. Here some of the things that protesters are saying.
