Before we talk about meal planning, we asked members inside our Additive Free Lifestyle Chat Group on Facebook to share photos of their grocery shopping lists and show proof of how much they spent by sharing their receipts. One of our members Kylie shared her first meal plan and said she only spent $85 for the entire week! She used to go to the store 4 to 5 times per week and pays $50 each time (that’s about $200 per week). She says she became organised and saved money more than half of what she usually spends shopping. That is amazing! Meanwhile, another member Mandy shared a screenshot of what she planned to cook for the week using our Meals Made Easy program, and it turns out that she only spent $130, looks big but it is, in fact, her budget for two weeks -- or $65 per week! Carlyn also tried Meals Made Easy and happily posted in the gro

It takes courage to share your plastic-free lifestyle with others, but you can inspire so many people to be better! Social psychology does show that it makes a huge difference what you do, as you’re creating a new social norm. The more people we see doing something, the more acceptable it is to us, and the more likely we are to do it ourselves. This is how we create the movement. It’s so empowering when you begin to reuse simple items around the home, and it allows you to be super creative. Achie

Episode #124 - Reducing Our Plastic Loads
05/07/2018 Duración: 32minPlastic Free July is happening right now and in this episode we’re going to share some pretty scary statistics on plastics! We as humans have the power to change the plastic waste situation, rather than burying our heads in the sand, and taking an out of site out of mind approach. It’s so important to focus on how it’s going to be for the next generation and the one after that. Ultimately they are the ones that will truly suffer if we continue the way we are going. These days it seems everything is wrapped in plastic from fresh fruit to conveniently chopped vegetables and more. The keyword is convenience! All of the below tips will help you to be a better influence to your children, to teach them the importance of recycling and what actually happens to that plastic item once used. When you live additive-free, you automatically reduce your plastic load as you’re not purchasing nearly as many packaged food or drink products. Generally, you take your own home-made products, which reduces your contribution to pla

Episode #123 - How To Stay Out of The Sick Bay
28/06/2018 Duración: 27minAs we’re right in the middle of winter here in Australia, we thought it would be a great time to talk about ways in which to boost your immunity and dodge the many colds and flus that circulate around this time of the year. We also want to discuss ways to boost your kid’s immune systems, as we all know just how easy it is for them to spread their cold throughout the whole family. Feeling better all comes down to eating better, then gradually moving onto improving your cleaning products, body-care, essential oils and fermented foods. This is a huge process that doesn’t just happen overnight. Start with one thing and stick to it the best you can. Pick something that you feel you’re struggling with the most and tackle that. Perhaps it’s improving your sleep habits and doing everything you can to improve that. Take a few steps back and ask yourself if you’re doing everything you possibly can to help the problem. Educate yourself further with the oodles of information, course registrations, podcasts, recipes and g

Episode #122 - Petroleum Derived Products
21/06/2018 Duración: 19minBrace yourself because you’re going to learn so much in this episode! This question came up quite often in our Additive-Free Made Easy Group. Just why are petroleum based ingredients harmful to your health? You might want to read the back of your skincare product labels after hearing this podcast! Petroleum ingredients are found in some of the most popular skincare products. What are petroleum based products? This is likely the biggest question we get asked. In a nutshell, they are a by-product of crude oil. Yes, something you put in your car or lubricate your car engine with. That’s what’s going on your skin. It just blows our mind that health authorities allow companies to place petroleum in popular beauty care products! There are a couple of grades of petroleum to look for: Xylene Toluene Mineral oil (perhaps the most deceptive branding) Liquid paraffin Paraffin wax Petroleum jelly (has been around for 50 to 60 years as a base in makeup products) While there are no real links to major medical issues, there

Episode #121 - A Man's Perspective to Living Additive Free with Jo and Shane Ling
14/06/2018 Duración: 16minJo: Why do you believe that most of our following are women? Shane: Well I think sometimes men have that little bit of fear, that they’re going to be involved with something that’s predominately female. Jo: But why do you think that it’s so driven by females? I know that men care about their health too. We go to the gym, we see men in there, some of the best chefs in the world are obviously men and there’s plenty of men that are into healthy eating. It seems to be an alright thing online, say on Youtube and podcast shows, but then why do men not show an interest in registering for Additive Free Made Easy for example? Shane: Well I think for a long time, particularly through the generations we’ve been driven to the image of an Australian man. You know, this big-bulky man who has a beard, hair on his chest, drinks cans of VB, eats pies and goes to the footy. So I think that that’s kind of where it started from, and nowadays you see more men in the gym, more men looking after their health, more advertising on ma

However, over the last 15 years a lot has changed and advanced, and we understand so much more about alternative and complementary medicine to support hormonal health. Nat’s wildly popular masterclass Debunking ovulation is one of Nat’s top masterclasses, that teaches women to understand their ovulation cycles, and teaching them what to look for when they’re ovulating. Today we are talking with Mitch, who is making a huge difference right here in Australia, in raising awareness for mental health. Making a huge difference in the community in preventing suicide rates While Mitch admits it’s difficult to gauge the difference that he’s making in the community, and how many lives he’s truly impacting, he knows his strong message is serving well. He is constantly receiving messages of gratitude from his talks in school, and even being stopped in the street by parents acknowledging the amazing work that he’s doing. From all the positive feedback, he knows that his talks have allowed children to open up about issues, that they may not have otherwise brought up with their parents. Talk about powerful stuff! It’s all the feedback that keeps Mitch’s fire alive, and helps him to jump out in the

10/05/2018 Duración: 27minJo’s beautiful eight-year-old daughter Eva is the whole reason behind her shift towards an Additive-Free Lifestyle. We have so many questions from mums and dads around the country even the world, about what it’s like to live additive-free, we thought it was a great idea to interview Eva herself on living an additive and preservative lifestyle. We get our listeners to ask all the questions! What have some of the challenges been, in going additive-free? Jo: Wait, you were just three-years-old when food changes started to happen in our household, so you weren’t exactly at an age where you would remember these. But still have chocolate, vanilla or homemade mint ice cream so I don’t feel like I’m missing out too

03/05/2018 Duración: 28minAs you know, we do live a fairly strict additive-free lifestyle, at least compared to most of the population! This has led to a lot of DIY moments around the house to help save money, make great thoughtful gifts, protect the environment and keep in line with our additive-free values. From the early days of focusing on additive-free, due to Jo’s daughter’s serious behavioural issues, right to Tracey’s love of natural body care, DIY just seemed to fit hand-in-hand with our healthy lifestyle changes. So whether you’re wanting to look into DIY body-care products, or DIY cleaning products (or both), our focus in this podcast is to compare costs of DIY vs purchased products to inspire you to go the extra mile! We will send a word of warning on the amazing DIY cleaning products mentioned , you might find that you actually start to enjoy cleaning (in a strange way). That’s because the oils are uplifting and don’t come with the headaches, or other side-effects of chemical cleaning products. If you’re of the belief tha

Being additive-free is anything but a short-term fix rather, it’s a completely new and exciting lifestyle change. We just know that we’re leaving behind the best legacy for our children in their own positive food choices. While you might have periods of your teenagers rebelling against these changes, the knowledge is well and truly installed in their minds! It’s a great gift to be handing down to your children or even your grand-children! We know that the lifestyle that we’re living, will see us still physically able to sit on the floor with our great-grand-children with plenty of energy! It all
