The church In Laodicean: Revelation 3:14-22 This church is saying to themselves our spiritual temperature is white hot. This would've been fine if they have been using the same measuring scale as Jesus was, but they weren’t. So Jesus tells them ‘you are measuring your love for me and your devotion for me by using the wrong scale - the wrong thermometer’. He tells them 'You are neither hot nor cold, you are lukewarm, and I want to vomit'.

Faithful Philadelphia: Revelation 3:7-13 It is not the size or strength of a Church that determines it’s ministry, but faith in the call and the command of the Lord Jesus. If Jesus opens the doors, we must go through it - if he shut the doors, we must wait. But, above all, we must be faithful to him.

Thyatira - the corrupted church. Revelation 2:18-29 Those who live in victory and overcome sin are the ones who will receive all of God’s rich promises. In the end those that repent will overcome not just the sins of this life, but will come to a place where Jesus will conquer all that is evil, once and for all - For Jesus is victorious and we are called to be like Him….

99.9% isn’t enough in God’s eyes - he requires everything, 100% and he will not compromise or share you with anyone or anything else. He expects total commitment. You need to stop and ask yourself In what area are you feeling the greatest pressure to conform to this world’s standards and culture?  Are there areas especially when it comes to idolatry and immorality, that you need to repent? The bigger question is… Will you? 

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! Matthew 7v7-11

When you think of Smyrna you should think persecution! But, Christians be encourages. If you struggle to find encouragement that those who belong to Jesus are tested, or that you don’t feel much consolation that your suffering won’t last long - why not look at the prize - the crown of life, eternal life and joy and blessing that is yours though Jesus.
