Nascar Qualifying for the Daytona 500 pole has completed, but there is so much more to come. We take a look at how the action has been playing out with the new rules. This week we say goodbye to a great man that we lost far too soon. We share some of our memories and stories of Cliff Krause as well as talk about the impact he has had on our lives and beyond. This week we talk about dirt racing, from the new 3/8th mile track at Bridgeport in our local segment, and in Las Vegas for the K&N west series, and the idea of dirt road courses. Drivers unions take center point after the charter system and driver contracts have made a mess of thing, and the Tony Stewart case rears its’ ugly head yet again. In F1, a feel good story is shot down before could even get on the grid, while the retired Felipe Massa is all but retired. Sebastian Vettel complains that fans are complaining, and thinks that Formula 1 should be boring. Indy car has a few switch ups planned for 2018, mostly in the cockpits. In the local segment we talk about the new 3/8 mile track at Bridgeport, then we give a nod to the Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club and our condolences on the passing of treasurer Paul Hayes. This week we review the first indoor dirt race in Trenton, NJ. Full of excitement and surprises for everyone. We look ahead to the Allentown indoor race as well. In the national section, Formula E takes center stage as they began their season, we offer up some food for thought regarding their future, especially against deep rooted series like Formula 1. Nascar has been making some changes after a decidedly awkward awards ceremony, but are they the right changes. The Karting world as well as the quarter midgets are gearing up for Daytona with the WKA series running their annual event at Daytona International Speedway, and two show members will be there to participate!!! It’s the return of Rendo this week. Nascar wrapped up its season with an incredible race at Homestead Miami Speedway for both the Monster Energy, and Xfinity series. We talk about the champions and the events leading up to their victories. We discuss the points and playoff system that Nascar has implemented this year and the pros and cons, compared with the results on the track. After a two-week absence that we have no real explanation for, Josh and Sam return to get you all caught up. After we say a heartfelt goodbye to several members of our racing family we begin to look ahead to the last major races of the season. Nascar is down to the final four drivers in contention to win the cup. We state our picks and why. We review the last few very emotional races that led up to where we stand. Formula 1 crowned its 2017 drivers champion, but it was a tight battle. The past few starts have been wild with more contact than usual, and a number of penalties throughout the field. Several rules changes are expected for 2018 as well as some driver changes. Then we move on to the local scene with the final practice day for Turkey Derby at Wall Stadium Speedway!!! This week we have some very exciting topics to review. From a very emotional win for Martin Truex Jr. to Kyle Larson and Matt Kenseth being bumped out of the playoffs for wildly different reasons. A controversial pass for the win in the Xfinity series and our thoughts on the final 4 drivers. In Formula 1 it was an incredible show in Texas for the U.S. Grand Prix. This included great action throughout the event and a heated debate on a penalty for one of the top drivers. How will the championship shake out as they head to Mexico? IndyCar has been doing some testing with the 2018 style bodywork, and Eric is drooling over the new look. In local news Wall Stadium Speedway held their annual Spooky Spectacular event and had some spooky wrecks to back it up. With one of the best modified events of the year and great battles in all the divisions, it was an incredible show for the fans. We will then set our sights on Turkey Derby Weekend. It’s that time of year again. Talladega provided many scares as the number of cautions soared in both the truck and the cup race. A few things to tie up in Formula 1 as we get ready for the race at COTA in Texas. We wonder what Formula E will do to the fan base over the next few years. This affects Indycar also. With only two manufacturers, the future looks bleak to some. We gear up for our local Spooky Spectacular race with so much more than just racing, the fan experience gives everyone a treat. Sam and Eric discuss their weekend working for the World Karting Association and their upcoming events. Then we have some fun as we play our fall snack – driver association game. After a horrific wreck Saturday night, we have Joey Bailey in the studio to talk about his accident and his recovery. We also discuss the action at Dover and some controversial comments from Denny Hamlin about the drivers’ salaries. Then we address Jeff Gordons’ post-race altercation with Ryan Newman. In Formula 1 we look into the dismal state of Ferrari as well as the incredible run by Red Bull to get two cars on the podium. We wrap up with a full recap of Saturday nights’ racing at our local short track, Wall Stadium Speedway. We talk about both the racing and our 2017 champions. Of course there was plenty to argue about in NASCAR with the cup series in New Hampshire while the Xfinity series was in Kentucky of all places. Sam managed to do a better job getting onto the show while in North Carolina than Nick who is still in NJ with his silly Ferrari. Formula 1 had the week off but still had some important changes to discuss. Indycar was testing their new 2018 aero kits and Eric nearly lost his balloons over it.
